Abstract

This study aims to find out the predicaments encountered by the international class program students of English Medium Instruction (EMI) class. The participants of this study were ten International Class Program students in the sixth semester of the Biology Education study program of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Negeri Makassar. The method of this study was a descriptive qualitative design, and the interview was the instrument for collecting data. The result showed that the predicaments encountered by the students of the EMI class in the Biology Education study program ICP of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Universitas Negeri Makassar were: 1) Present the material by the lecturers: a) limited knowledge of vocabulary, b) unfamiliar accent in lecturer’s pronunciation, c) low listening skill; 2) Understanding the textbooks: a) limited knowledge of vocabulary, and b) no division of students’ level of ability. 3) Understanding the scientific journal to write practicum reports: limited knowledge of vocabulary. 4) Writing a practicum report: difficulty with grammar. 5) Speaking in the class of presentation: a) difficulty in pronunciation, and b) limited knowledge of vocabulary.

Abstract

Abstract. This descriptive study aims to determine: 1) the suitability of learning objectives with basic competencies (BC), 2) the distribution of cognitive process levels of learning objectives based on Bloom's taxonomy revision, and 3) the completeness of the components of the formulation of learning objectives in the lesson plan (LP) for high school biology teachers at SMA Negeri 14 Gowa. There were 11 LP studied, namely 6 LP for the even semester of class XI and 5 LP for the even semester of class XII for the academic year 2020/2021 which consisted of 22 BC, 80 indicators of competency achievement (ICA), and 80 formulations of learning objectives. The instruments used are assessment sheets and checklists. The data is processed by calculating the percentage (%) of each category. It was concluded: 1) the suitability of the learning objectives with the dominant BC (63.75%) was appropriate, 28.75% was quite suitable, and 7.50% was not suitable; 2) distribution of levels of cognitive process learning objectives based on the revision of Bloom's taxonomy dominant (53.75%) C2, each level has been represented but not proportionally; 3) the completeness of the dominant learning objective component (97.50) is incomplete, containing only audience and behavior components, some even have only behavior components.Keywords: lesson plans, learning objectives, suitability, distribution, completeness.

Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy requires universities to redesign curricula to strengthen graduate adaptability and alignment with labor market demands. The Indonesian Language Education Study Program must respond by developing a curriculum that accommodates students’ right to study outside the program while maintaining core pedagogical and linguistic competencies. This study aims to develop an MBKM-responsive curriculum design and formulate course-conversion mechanisms aligned with Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL). This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using a systematic development model. Data were collected through document analysis, Focus Group Discussions (FGD) involving lecturers, students, alumni, and graduate users, and expert validation. The findings indicate that: (1) the graduate profile was reconstructed into more flexible roles such as educators, researchers, and language entrepreneurs; (2) the revised curriculum structure accommodates 20–40 credits of off-campus learning activities, including educational internships, teaching assistance, and humanitarian projects; and (3) clear course-equivalence guidelines ensure the achievement of CPL in knowledge and specific-skills domains. In conclusion, the developed curriculum is valid and feasible, supporting flexible learning pathways while enhancing the relevance and competitiveness of Indonesian Language Education graduates in the era of disruption.
