Abstract

Labor productivity is one of the critical success factors in a development project of construction services. This research to analyze the worker’s productivity on two projects undertaken by two contractors with different background. Labor Utilization Rate Value (LUR Value) is used in this study to determine the level of productivity of each worker. Meanwhile, to determine the factors which affect the labor’s productivity, factor analysis is used in this study supported the spread of questionnaire to the supervisors. It can be seen that the average level of worker productivity on rebar work in project A which has been undertaken by one of the foreign contractor was 71,4881% and LUR value for formwork workwas 74,3086%, while the project B which has been done by one of the BUMN contactors, LUR value on rebar work was 66,1528 % and on the formwork work was 72,5055 %. Of the same type of work, LUR value comparison shows that productivity of workers on the project A is higher. Meanwhile, factor analysis on the questionnaire shows that some factors which affect on project A are work method, work instructions, tools quality, group labor composition, working drawings, remunerations, area density of labor, labor skills, experience and teamwork. While, factors that affect labor productivity on the project B are expertise of labor, area density of labor, experience, group labor composition, work method, management and leadership skill, team work and tools quality. Keywords: productivity, labor utilization rate, productivity factor, labor, factor analysis

Abstract

According to Central Bureau of Statistics (Badan Pusat Statistik), in 2015 the population of Special Capital Region of Jakarta was 10,177,900 people with the rate of growth 1.02% per annum. Approximately, 14.7% of the population are students. In order to fulfil the demand of good quality education, the X school foundation develops and builds new schools continuously, especially in Jakarta and its suburbs. The planning of school development should be done well. One of the initial steps is to conduct a feasibility study. Conceptual cost estimation is important at this stage. There are some difficulties in estimating the cost at the conceptual stage, such as the lack of preliminary information about the project, lack of project cost data, incomplete data, et cetera. The purpose of this study is to create model using Artificial Neural Network. To determine the input variables, analysis factors were used. After that, the model was created by using Matlab software. This research was conducted by collecting 15 data of school building projects. The result of this study shows the best Artificial Neural Network model is network architecture 7-5-1 with backpropagation algorithm.

Abstract

The building façade must be carefully designed from the early planning stage. Given the wide variety of single-glazed glass types, selecting an appropriate glass façade is not a simple task. In practice, glass selection is generally based solely on cost considerations. This study proposes a glass façade selection method that incorporates comfort performance as a primary criterion. In addition to comfort, physical properties and cost factors are also considered. The comfort parameters evaluated in this study include thermal comfort and visual comfort derived from the glass properties. A total of fifty-five (55) single-glazed glass samples, consisting of float glass, tinted glass, and reflective glass, were analyzed. The results indicate that the proposed method can effectively support glass façade selection. For float glass, increasing glass thickness leads to improved comfort performance. For tinted glass, green-colored glass with a thickness of 6 mm exhibits the best comfort performance with a value of 6.6. Meanwhile, for reflective glass, classic green reflective glass achieves the highest comfort performance value of 7.0 at a thickness of 6 mm. Among all single-glazed glasses (tinted and reflective) with a thickness of 6 mm, classic green reflective glass demonstrates the best overall comfort performance.
