Abstract

The use of pesticides in agriculture especially pepper concern of residue accumulation, which may remain in the food and agricultural environment causing human health and damaging ecological balance. Beside that, pepper with high residue pesticide will be rejected by export destination countries. This study reported is based on the determination of deltamethrin and λ-cyhalothrin residue in pepper. Pepper was taken from supermarkets and pepper exporters in East Java. The pesticide residues were extracted and cleaned-up with optimalized QuEChERS method and determination was carried out on GC-ECD. Deltamethrin and λ-cyhalothrin respons have linear correlation with the concentrations at the range of 0.01 to 1.00 µg/mL (determination coefficient, r2, was 0.9993 and 0.9950). Detection and quantitation limits for deltamethrin were 0.020 µg/mL and 0.067 µg/mL, respectively, while detection and quantitation limits for λ-cyhalothrin  were 0.090 µg/mL and 0.301 µg/mL, respectively. Recoveries of these residues are between 99-143%. All pepper samples were tested, was undetected contain residues of λ-cyhalothrin and deltamethrin.

Abstract

The Surabaya Center for Seed and Plantation Protection (BBPPTP Surabaya) carried out interlaboratory comparison research to test the quality of pesticide formulations. This study aimed to determine the ability of each participating laboratory to analyze the concentration of the active ingredients’ beta-cyfluthrin, chlorpyrifos, and profenofos in test samples expressed in z-score values. A total of 15 laboratories participated in this program. The quality test method of the pesticide formulations for the beta-cyfluthrin, chlorpyrifos, and profenofos active ingredients referred to the Association of Official Agricultural Chemists (AOAC) method, which was developed and validated. A homogeneity test was carried out before the test samples were distributed. The data were evaluated using a robust z-score statistical calculation algorithm, a method under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 13528:2016. The assigned values used to calculate the z-score were obtained by statistical processing of participants’ test results. The results of the stability test calculation showed that the distributed sample data was statistically stable. Three laboratory participants were in the questionable category, and one laboratory participant was in the outlier category.

Abstract

Penggunaan pestisida yang luas pada setiap tahap tanaman di Indonesia menyebabkan banyak residu pestisida yang tertinggal pada hasil pertanian maupun pada lingkungan pertanian. Residu pestisida yang terdapat pada hasil pertanian mempunyai dampak yang buruk bagi kesehatan manusia dan lingkungan. Berbagai macam metode telah dikembangkan untuk mengurangi residu pestisida yang terdapat pada hasil pertanian, baik pada tahap prapanen maupun pada tahap pasca panen. Metode prapanen meliputi penggunaan Agen Pengendali Hayati dan sistem pertanian Pengendalian Hama Terpadu, penggunaan pestisida non persisten, pengaturan waktu aplikasi pestisida, dan penggunaan arang aktif. Sedangkan metode pasca panen meliputi pencucian hasil pertanian, penggunaan ozon dan air terozonisasi, perendaman air panas, penggunaan radiasi ultrasonik dan pengaturan pH. Metode prapanen maupun pasca panen sama baiknya dalam menurunkan kadar residu pestisida pada hasil pertanian dengan memberikan hasil signifikan pengurangan residu pestisida antara 50 - 100%.
