Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the contribution of Rohana Kudus in empowering Minangkabau women through her voice and work, both in the fields of religion, education, journalism, economics, social life, politics, and other fields. This study uses the gender deconstruction method, namely nurture. Called nurture because social and cultural factors create gender attributes and form stereotypes of a certain gender in society from generation to generation (culture). The results showed that due to the encouragement and demands to promote Minangkabau women, Rohana Kudus established the "Kerajinan Amai Setia" (KAS) school which teaches various household crafts such as sewing, cooking and so on. In addition, she managed to publish a weekly newspaper for Minangkabau women known as “Soenting Melajoe”. It is because of her struggle that Rohana Kudus can be recorded as the first woman journalist in West Sumatra.

Abstract

This study arises from the urgency of addressing the modern ecological crisis through a holistic framework for sustainable environmental preservation. Its primary aim is to integrate the concept of ecosufism into the development of green technology to foster harmony between humans and nature. Employing an interdisciplinary method, the research synthesizes perspectives from Sufism (ecosufism), ecology, and green technology. This methodological approach enables a comprehensive understanding of the interconnection between Sufi spirituality, environmental ethics, and the implementation of eco-friendly technologies. This study is based on an extensive literature review encompassing works on Sufism, ecological philosophy, and contemporary green technology research. The findings reveal that core ecosufism principles such as khalīfah, amānah, isrāf, and mīzān serve as vital ethical foundations for responsible environmental stewardship. Integrating ecosufism into green technology offers a philosophical and moral framework that reinforces humanity’s role as khalīfah in protecting and sustaining nature. Consequently, technological innovation should move beyond technical efficiency to embrace spiritual values and profound ecological accountability, creating a synergistic relationship between science and spirituality in pursuit of environmental sustainability.
