Abstract

Research about the effect of ration containing various dosage curcuminoid in pigs rations to growth rate and the ration conversion has been held since December 2005 until March 2006 in KPBI (Koperasi Peternak Babi Indonesia), Kecamatan Cisarua, Kabupaten Bandung. The purpose of this research is to know the Wright dosage of gives curcuminoid as feed additive also effect of curcuminoid as feed additive ration to growth rate and the ration conversion. This research was using 20 starter period pigs, age 2 months with weight rate 18 kg and variation coefficient 6.33%. The method was which used in this research is Complete Randomized Design with four level dosage of curcuminoid i.e, 0, 4, 8 and 12 mg/kg/body weight with five replications. The result of the research shows that giving curcuminoid as feed additive does not give the different effect to the ration conversion, but to growth rate by gives dosage of curcuminoid which 4 mg/kg/body weight effect to increase pigs growth rate. Curcuminoid which gives 4 mg/kg/body weight has give the best effect to growth rate and the ration conversion. KeyWords : Pigs, Feed Additive, Curcuminoid, Ration Conversion, Growth ate

Abstract

Background: Worldwide, stroke accounts for 15 million cases annually. Despite improved understanding of its pathophysiology, an effective treatment is yet to be available. Objective: This review aims to expound ischemic stroke pathophysiology from a bio-molecular perspective, and present two peptides, namely Tat-NR2B9c and Tat-NR2Bct-CTM, which has been proven to attenuate neuronal tissue damage in ischemic stroke. Methods: Scoping review of several electronic databases: PubMed, Medline, Researchgate, NCBI, SpringerLink, and Google scholar. Search query included: ischemic stroke, NR2B, DAPK1, nNOS, NOX, Tat-NR2Bct-CTM and Tat-NR2B9c. Results:  It is recognizable in a sense, that the pathophysiology pivots on the NR2B-DAPK1 and PSD-95-NR2B interactions. Tat-NR2Bct-CTM and Tat-NR2B9c thwarts NR2B-DAPK1 and PSD-95-NR2B interactions, respectively. These peptides show significant reliability, with the former capable of reducing free DAPK1 by 92,85%, and the latter, the first stroke treatment in two decades to reach Phase 3 clinical trials. Conclusion: These results strongly support Tat-NR2Bct-CTM and Tat-NR2B9c as effective means to reduce neuronal tissue damage in ischemic stroke.

Abstract

Background: Sepsis is a state of organ dysfunction caused by the immune system’s abnormal response to an infection. Septic shock is sepsis complicated by circulatory and metabolic abnormalities, oftentimes resulting in death. Prompt identification and treatment of septic shock is crucial for the survival of patients. The latest international guideline recommends the administration of norepinephrine as the first line vasopressor, with the addition of epinephrine or vasopressin as an aid in achieving the target MAP (Mean Arterial Pressure). Methods: This study is a systematic review of literatures from the databases Pubmed PMC, Science Direct, and Proquest. Systematic reviews on septic shock, norepinephrine, and epinephrine or vasopressin were among the inclusion criterias. This resulted in a total of five systematic reviews to be included in the qualitative synthesis. Results: The five included studies were not in sync as to which vasopressor is best used for the treatment of septic shock patients. One of which did not compare the two combinations within the same category, two of which favored the use of norepinephrine-epinephrine, and the other two favored the use of norepinephrine-vasopressin for the treatment of septic shock patients. Conclusion: The existing evidence were insufficient to give a conclusion of the best combination of vasopressors for septic shock patients. More research, specifically randomized controlled trials, needs to be conducted on this topic with well defined administration of combinations of vasopressors as an advancement of this systematic review. The writers also recommend the delay of anymore systematic reviews until the former recommendation has been met.
