Abstract

Cotton plants belong to the family Malvaceae with the genus Gossypium. The genus Gossypium is very large containing 50 species. Balittas Malang has a collection of cotton germplasm, about 662 accessions consisting of 642 accessions of G. hirsutum, 14 accessions of G. barbadense, 3 accessions of G. arboreum, and 3 accessions of G. herbaceum. In addition to its ability as a producer of fiber, its seeds can also be utilized as a source of oil and is a secondary production. The purpose of this study was to measure and estimate the genetic diversity of cotton germplasm based on the character of superior quality and quantity of cotton seed oil from several cotton plant genotypes and determine which cotton plants have good quality and quantity of cotton seed oil which is subsequently used as breeding sources & national cotton development elders. To achieve this goal, the experiment was conducted with the experimental method Randomized Block Design (RBD) consisting of 2 replications, 22 germplasm accessions as treatment, and 5 samples in each genotype. The observational parameters are the parameters of oil content quality, oil boiling point, oleic content, and linoleic content. Then the cluster analysis shows that there are 3 cluster analysis groups. Extensive genetic diversity will be beneficial in developing better quality and quantity of cottonseed oil, namely in accession of CRISS-665, CRISS-667, and KANESIA-14 which contribute more than accession of other cotton germplasm to the maximum value of quantity and quality parameters cotton seed oil. Keywords: agronomic evaluation, G. barbadense, G. hirsutum, phenotypic data analysis

Abstract

In order to support the needs of the national textile industry, the necessary raw materials of high quality cotton, high grain yield and widely adaptable. To achieve these objectives, it is necessary the introduction of new cotton crop accession so that the resources can be available breeding elders. Given the genetic diversity and varieties of national cotton production stagnant. The study was conducted with the aim of getting the results of evaluation of growth of cotton plants introduced in tropical environments. Based on the analysis of variance, character growth, plant height, number of branches and monopodial simpodial, and time of harvest showed significant differences in the level of 1%. While the character of days to flowering and boll opening age showed significant differences in the level of 5%. There was variation in plant height were heterogeneous due to genetic differences. Differences in flowering dates, age boll opening and harvesting with significant variation is caused by environmental influences. Anticipated environmental factors that have the most primary role is long irradiation, recorded some sensitivity to fotoperiodisitas accession. The results of the study recommend accession CRIS-664 and CRIS-342 as source code elders with early maturity, because it has a lifespan of flowering and harvesting age equal even faster than local cultivars. Abstract

Abstract

Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is unheated coconut oil processing, which leaves the oil's composition and properties unchanged. In the process of making VCO, various methods can be used, including: Techniques such as acidification, controlled heating, centrifugation, fishing, fermentation, and enzymatic. In this study, VCO was made using the acidification method with the addition of 20% acetic acid. The approach taken was a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 2 factors and every treatmentwas carried out three times, in order for 18 experimental units to be acquired. DA variance analysis was used to examine the data and continued with BNT at a level of 5%. This study was conducted to determine the effect of the addition of acetic acid (1% and 2%) and the duration of stirring using a hand mixer with a maximum speed of 1,500 rpm for (10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes) and the interaction between the addition of acetic acid and the duration of stirring on the yield and quality produced. The VCO analysis test in this study included the yield test (%), water content (%), Free Fatty Acid (FFA) content, peroxide number, specific gravity, and organoleptic (color, aroma, taste). According to the study's findings, the highest yield was 26.84% with the addition of 1% acetic acid with a stirring time of 15 minutes.
