Abstract

Color variations are needed to support the development of the textile industry to increase the attractiveness of a product. Based on the sources obtained, textile dyes are divided into 2, namely natural and synthetic dyes. Natural dyes can be the best solution to replace synthetic dyes that can be harmful to the environment. One of the natural dyes that can be used as natural dyes is the secang wood. This study aims to determine how the processing of the secang wood into the secang extract and the strength of fabric absorption and color sharpness produced on cellulose fibers, proteins and synthesis of the coloring process using secang wood using alum, quicklime and tunjung fixator. The procedure of this research was carried out starting from literature review, observation, verification of data, experimentation, and processing of research results. Processing data in this study using descriptive statistical analysis. The results showed that the extraction process of secang wood included cutting small or shredding secang wood, weighing 500 grams of secang wood then cooking with 2 liters of water, cooking until the water shrank to 1 liter so it was ready to be used as natural dyes. The ability to absorb cotton cloth (cellulose fibers) against extract secang using a fixator produces sharp or strong colors but is dull and less even on the surface of the fabric.

Abstract

This research aims to determine: 1) an overview of the influence of participation in organizations at Hima PKK on student learning achievement; 2) learning achievement before and during organizing at Hima PKK; and 3) the influence of student participation in organizations on student learning achievement at Hima PKK. This research is a quantitative study using the ex post facto method. The sampling technique uses a saturated sampling technique. Data collection techniques using observation, questionnaires, and documentation The data analysis technique uses descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis to explain the influence between variables. Based on the research results, it was found that 1) the picture of the influence of student participation in organizations on learning achievement is very well presented with four indicators: level of attendance at meetings, position held, providing suggestions, criticism, and opinions for improving the organization, Willingness of members to make sacrifices and member motivation 2) Learning achievement before and during the organization at Hima PKK is that out of 30 students, there are 20 students with the highest score with a very good predicate with a percentage of 66.6%, while those with the second highest score with a good predicate are 8 people with a percentage of 26.6%. 3) Based on data analysis, it shows that the influence of participation in organizing at Hima PKK on student learning achievement is at a low percentage of 22.9%. This shows that participation in organizations does not have a bad effect on student learning achievement because there are 77.1% other variables that influence it.

Abstract

In order to revive the use of natural dyes for silk clothing, it is necessary to develop natural dyes by exploiting natural dye sources from various plants that are abundant in South Sulawesi. The purpose of this study is to qualitatively analyze the colors produced by various plants for dyeing silk fabrics. The research was conducted at the silk production center in Sengkang, Wajo Regency, Sulawesi Province, South Sulawesi from March to May 2016. The data collection methods used in this study were observation in the field, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that many types of plants spread in South Sulawesi can be used as dyes for silk materials. Exploration of Natural Dyes through the process of extracting stems, roots, leaves of flowers or fruits from plants used as coloring materials, through the process The mordanting process is carried out before the Dyeing Process with Natural Dyes so that the absorption of natural dyes against silk materials increases. The fixation process is carried out after the dyeing process with natural dyes so that natural dyes absorbed in silk materials have good fastness. The process of dyeing silk with natural dyes from plants so that it can be further developed.
