Abstract

This study aims to determine the development map of mathematic model in islamic economics and finance research that is indexed by Scopus and other reputable journal with the keyword "Mathematic model in islamic economics and finance". The data analyzed were 100 selected publications. The development map of mathematic model in islamic economics and finance research analyzed using the VOSviewer application program to find out the bibliometric map. The results showed that the number of publications on the development of mathematic model in islamic economics and finance research indexed Scopus from 1983-2019 experienced a significant increase and the most were published in Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Islamic Economics. Network visualization showed that the map of the development of mathematic model in islamic economics and finance research was divided into 3 clusters. The majority of research is related to modeling of Profit Loss Sharing (PLS) schemes. However, despite the development of using mathematical model in those researches, the approach tends to be adaptive (inductive) from conventional models that already exist. A challenge to review the mainstream model need to be further critically reviewed. Hence, it is necessary for researcher to formulate a mathematical model with a deductive approach that is reduced from Islamic norms or ethics derived from the Alquran and Sunnah.

Abstract

Indonesia's growing Hajj and Umrah pilgrim population, along with a significant number of Indonesian expatriates in Saudi Arabia, has increased the demand for accessible and efficient Sharia-compliant financial services. The purpose of this paper is to analyze strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) Indonesian sharia banking digital services for Indonesian citizens in Saudi Arabia (Hajj and Umrah pilgrims as well as Indonesian citizens living in Saudi Arabia) and finally prioritizing strategies according to expert assessments, including experts, practitioners, regulators and stakeholders. Since SWOT analysis is unable to rank the strategies developed, an analytical network process method is applied to prioritize them according to expert judgment. The results are compared with the results of the Analytic Network Process (ANP). The results of this research analysis found that the SWOT analysis found strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities in Indonesian sharia banking digital services for Indonesian citizens in Saudi Arabia. Abstract

The framework for measuring the performance of Islamic banks is related to the concept of efficiency that has been widely implemented. However, there is a deficiency of the DEA model, especially in determining the best ranking of the DMU when there are several DMU units which are equally worth 1. In this study, Islamic banks in Indonesia were used as objects of study. After calculating the super efficiency, then the research will measure the level of influence of each variable on the relative efficiency value through sensitivity analysis. The results showed that, in super efficiency the highest value was owned by BSM bank in 2016 with a relative efficiency value of 1,351, followed by Bank Mega Syariah 2016 with 1,202 and BMI 2016 of 1,175. For sensitivity analysis, the efficiency value of Islamic banks was very sensitive to value output variables, especially operating income variables.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to see the cause and effect between the Human Development Index and the Global Muslim Travel Index. This research was conducted using quantitative research methods for a dataset of five countries with low security levels. The study was analyzed by the Bayesian Vector Autoregression Panel using Eviews 10. The findings reveal that there is no interaction and contribution between the Human Development Index and the Global Muslim Travel Index in countries with weak security levels for Muslim tourists. However, according to the PBVAR estimate, the Human Development Index affects the Global Muslim Travel Index, as well as the Global Muslim Travel Index affects the Human Development Index. Then the results of the IRF test explained that the Human Development Index and the Global Muslim Travel Index had a stable response in the second period. Finally, the decomposition analysis explains that the Human Development Index and the Global Muslim Travel Index have their respective roles from the first period to the tenth period. Through this research, it is hoped that the relevant state governments can mix policies and anticipate shocks that occur. Therefore, the researcher proposes to increase security for Muslim tourists visiting their country and implement various facilities that support comfort for Muslim tourists.
