Since the beginning, medical ethics always walks together with medical practices. For centuries, Hippocratic oath is the guard of the medical practices. But now medical science is growing rapidly so it can be followed by medical ethics. Bioethics is born from this concern. It wants to connect ethics and medical practices and to give ethics orientation for medical services. Bioethics does not talk just about medical practices but about all human life in the front of medical services. This essay will show us the connection between ethics and medical services. Ethics is needed to help us how to use knowledge in medical science. One of the ethics aims is respect for human being. In particular, this essay will speak about: relation between ethics and biomedic, the needs of ethics in the biomedic practices and ethics orientation in medical services.

Bernhard Hring is well known as a progressive moralist because he tries to progress moral theology as a science. Moral theology - before the Second Vatican Council - is so much controlled by Vatican so moral theology can not develop itself. According to Hring, moral theology, as a science, has to explore our faith: our relationship with God. To aim this goal, Hring stresses 3 points as locus theologicus of moral theology: Christ as Person, His redemption and our daily life. Hring believes that christian morality is never pure morality but depends on the relationship with Christ. So, this is why Hring categorizes christian morality as morality of discipleship: You do because You believe in Christ.

Liberation theology emerges as a movement within the Chatolic Church in Latin America in the 1950s and 1960s. This movement is principally as a moral reaction to the poverty and social injustice in the region. Gustavo Guttirrez gives the movement its name: theology of liberation (1971) that attempts to interpret Scripture through the plight of the poor. This essay deals with the Guttirrez concept of theology of liberation. From Gutirrez, we learn that doing theology means to seek to interpret the actions of the Catholic Church and the teachings of Jesus Christ from the perspective of the poor and disadvantaged.

Our world now is economic world because it is colored by economic activities. Economic activities occur when two parties agree to the value or price of the transacted good or service, commonly expressed in a certain currency. A modern market is based on economy where goods and services are produced without interference and let the market run according to demand and supply. This article will deals with the John Lockes concept about the economy, Adam Smiths concept about the liberal economy, critics Karl Marx to the liberal economy, business and free market. The end of this article, I will present how the Catholic Church sees the economic activities as human activity for human development.

Discussion on social-political ethics brings us to understand that democraticsystem has to give space for the peoples participation when a public policy istaken. Democracy or government by and for the people requires some form ofrepresentation and must bring the people to the welfare society. Welfare society isnot only how to fulfill the basic needs of the people but also how to empower theconducive interaction and relationship among them. For this reason, democracytakes freedom and justice to be the basic ideal for living together. Freedom andjustice will grow the personal responsibility in a society. This essay is an attemptto revive the importance and the essence of a democratic system in our societynowadays.

This article deals with Gaudium et Spes, pastoral constitution on the Church in modern World. Gaudium et Spes is the one most valuable result of the Second Vatican Council. Throughout this constitution, the Council highlights the church's willingness to be with the contemporary realm. The Council also wants to create an environment of dialogue, where the church would engage in all the forces of the modern world. The church must be involved in the world. Vatican II stirs the consciences of all Christians, reminding them of their solidarity, to fulfill the will and the prayer of Jesus Christ that all his followers be one, even as he and the Father are one (Cfr. GS 1).

Abstract. The Covid-19 pandemic has created human’s suffering. Human suffering itself has evoked many questions about God's omniscience and omnipotence, which are often known as theodicy problem. This paper is an attempt to account for God's ways of human suffering. The method used in this study was a literature study by conducting a reflective analysis of several philosophers and theologians' thoughts. The results of this study showed that faith in Jesus Christ enables people to accept suffering positively. Suffering can bring to awareness of human limitations, awareness that suffering can be turned into strength, raise a sense of optimism for a better future, and awaken solidarity.Abstrak. Pandemi Covid-19 telah membuat manusia menderita. Penderitaan manusia itu sendiri telah mengundang banyak pertanyaan terhadap kemahatahuan dan kemahakuasaan Allah, yang sering dikenal dengan persoalan teodise. Tulisan ini adalah sebuah usaha untuk mempertanggungjawabkan jalan-jalan Tuhan atas penderitaan manusia. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah studi literatur dengan melakukan analisis reflektif dari beberapa pemikiran filsuf dan teolog. Hasil kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa iman kepada Yesus Kristus membuat orang dapat menerima penderitaan secara positif. Penderitaan dapat mengajarkan kesadaran akan keterbatasan manusiawi, kesadaran bahwa penderitaan dapat diubah menjadi kekuatan, bangkitnya rasa optimis akan masa depan yang lebih baik, dan bangkitnya solidaritas.

Abstract. Postmodernism (postmo) is associated with deconstruction, skepticism and philosophical criticism of the concept of universal truth and objective reality. For postmodernist thinkers, reason and logic are merely conceptual constructions and therefore are only valid within the intellectual traditions adopted by their users. These thinkers emphasize the differences in human experience and the plurality of truth, while dogmatic theology claims God and objective reality as the only truth. Based on this, this paper attempted to analyze the influence of postmo on theology in order to build a new paradigm for the development of theology. The method used in this article was literature study. The result of this study indicates that theology must learn from postmodernism. Theology must renew itself so that its arguments can be accepted.Abstrak. Postmodernisme (posmo) dihubungkan dengan dekonstruksi, skeptisisme dan kritik filosofis terhadap konsep kebenaran universal dan realitas yang obyektif. Bagi para pemikir posmodernisme, akal budi dan logika hanyalah konstruksi konseptual dan karenanya hanya sah di dalam pendirian tradisi-tradisi intelektual yang dipakai oleh penggunanya. Para pemikir itu menekankan perbedaan pengalaman manusiawi dan kemajemukan kebenaran, sementara teologi dogmatik mengklaim Tuhan dan realitas obyektif sebagai satu-satunya kebenaran. Berangkat dari hal itu tulisan ini mencoba menganalisa pengaruh posmo terhadap teologi untuk membangun sebuah paradigma baru demi perkembangan teologi. Metode yang digunakan di dalam artikel ini adalah studi literatur. Hasil dari kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa teologi harus belajar dari posmodernisme. Teologi harus membaharui diri sehingga argumen-argumennya dapat diterima.
