Abstract

The integration of ICT in learning is a component of 21st-century learning. Science and technology always develop rapidly from time to time.  The purpose of this study is to determine the knowledge and abilities of junior high school mathematics teachers in STEM learning. This research was also conducted to determine student knowledge related to STEM learning. This study used a mixed method. The results showed that most junior high school mathematics teachers in the Donggala district did not understand STEM/STEAM learning. The teacher has also not been able to apply the STEM/STEAM approach in the learning process. Therefore, it is hoped that mathematics teachers in the Donggala district can apply a STEAM-based approach combined with local wisdom in the Donggala district. And it is necessary to conduct training to improve teacher competencies related to STEM learning.

Abstract

Abstract

Kemampuan untuk mengaitkan berbagai konsep dalam matematika sangat berperan dalam membantu proses penyelesaian masalah, khususnya pada soal materi kubus dan balok yang menuntut siswa untuk mampu memvisualisasikan model dari bangun ruang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan kemampuan siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 6 Palu dalam mengaitkan konsep-konsep matematika dalam materi kubus dan balok. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan  menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Tiga subjek dipilih berdasarkan kategori kemampuan matematika tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes uraian dan wawancara, kemudian dilakukan validasi data melalui teknik member check. Proses analisis data melalui kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa berkemampuan tinggi mampu memenuhi hampir seluruh indikator koneksi matematis, meliputi kemampuan mengidentifikasi informasi, mengaitkan konsep secara logis, mengintegrasikan representasi, serta menyusun model matematika, meskipun masih terdapat kesalahan pada konversi satuan. Siswa berkemampuan sedang memenuhi sebagian indikator, namun masih kurang teliti dalam prosedur perhitungan dan pemilihan informasi penting. Adapun siswa berkemampuan rendah belum mampu menghubungkan konsep secara memadai, mengalami kesalahan dalam penggunaan rumus, serta belum dapat membangun model matematika secara tepat. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa kemampuan koneksi matematis yang dimiliki siswa dipengaruhi oleh ketelitian prosedural, penguasaan konsep dasar, dan kemampuan visualisasi bangun ruang.
