Abstract

Kenya bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is an exotic horticultural commodity belonging to the leguminous group which has quite high economic value. The demand for Kenya beans does not only come from within the country, but also from abroad. Domestic kenya beans are exported to several countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, England and Australia. In order to produce a product suitable for export, appropriate post-harvest treatment is required. This technical note aims to provide information regarding the postharvest handling of kenya bean in the Katenzo Pangalengan Farmers Group, Bandung Regency. Methods for gathering information include field observations, small seminars, interviews and literature studies. Observations showed that the post-harvest handling carried out in farmer groups included several stages consisting of harvest collection, sorting and grading, weighing, storage, packaging and labeling, and delivering.
