Abstract

Kiai Khoiron is a unique figure who has conduct-ed an intensive dakwah (religious propaganda) at the localiza-tion of Surabaya. Through his exceptional method of dakwah, there have been many prostitutes and the pimps who have repented. Preaching in an unusual environment has certainly resulted in a particular phenomenon. This article intention-ally presents Kiai Khoiron?s method of dakwah. Employing descriptive-qualitative approach, the article explores the phenomenon of dakwah promulgated by Kiai Khoiron. It deals with approaches, characteristics, and typology of dakwah conducted by Kiai Khoiron to the residents of localization, prostitutes, and pimps. The findings of this study suggest that the approach of dakwah is centered upon the objects (mad?û), i.e. the people of the localization. He seeks to change religious views held by the objects (mad?û), not only at the level of understanding, but also their attitudes and behaviors. All the elements of propaganda delivered certainly conform to the conditions of the objects, either in the form of by-speech propaganda (bi al-lisân) or by-example preaching (bi al-hâl). With reference to the materials and approaches of dakwah carried by Kiai Khoiron, it seems that he can be characterized as an adaptive, attentive, solution-giver, and humorous preacher.

Abstract

This article is the result of a study entitled Da’wa Kiai Prostitution versus Kiai Petruk in the Ex localization of Dolly in Surabaya. The research is focused on, first, how is the method of da’wa used by Kiai Khoiron Syu'aib (Kiai Prostitution) and Kiai Ngadimen Wahab (Kiai Petruk) in the Ex Localization of Dolly in Surabaya? second, what are the similarities and differences of the da’wa method used by both of them? Third, what is the role of both of them in merecavery of the ex-Dolalization community. Dolly is one of the biggest localizations in Southeast Asia, her fame succumbed to Surabaya as the icon of the City of Heroes. In the midst of the hustle and bustle of the lust business by the pimps and his cronies, there are some preachers who care about the fate of young women who sell love, namely the prostitutes who are localized with Dolly in Surabaya, they are Kiai Ngadimen Wahab (kiai petruk) and Kiai Khoiron Syu'aib (kiai of prostitution). Behind the menor's grooming and the beautiful appearance of the prostitutes, their hearts actually cry and scream, because most of them plunge as prostitutes because they are deceived and forced by pimps pimps and localization thugs and circumstances that force them to plunge into the valley of prostitution. In fact in the recesses of the hearts of CSWs there is a glimmer of hope to work as normal workers and become good women, positive empty space in the recesses of the hearts of CSWs is utilized and filled by the preachers of localization with a touch of humanist preaching with the principle of Rahmatan li al-alamin.

Abstract

This article seeks to discuss in depth the model of networking proselytising conducted by the Asociation of Preachers in Localization Area (IDIAL) and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of East Java in attempting to close down prostitution practices in East Java. Using a participatory approach, this study concluded that the IDIAL-MUI networking da'wah model used both structural and cultural approaches. The structural approach was carried out by building and strengthening power networks, namely bureaucracy, politics and the military in the process of closing the "localization". Whereas the cultural approach is carried out through building networks amongst the social, economic, community, and tertiary organization sectors by using da'wah bi al-hal. In addition, the da'wah bi al-lisan (verbal) also conducted within the cultural approach through preaching and creating majlis taklim.

Abstract

Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui tentang bagaimana praktek kewirausahaan santri dan kemandirian pesantren PP Al-Azhar Muncar Banyuwangi dan PP Mukmin Mandiri Sidoarjo. Dasar pemilihan lokus penelitian adalah sebab kedua pesantren ini mempunyai kemiripan tentang praktek bisnis di bidang jual beli Kopi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Data yang diperoleh bersifat primer yang didapat dengan mewawancari pihak pesantren dan observasi di lapangan. Selain itu juga didukung data sekunder dengan menelaah dokumen-dokumen relevan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menujukkan bahwa praktek kewirausahaan santri di PP Al-Azhar Muncar Banyuwangi tidak menjadi core aktifitas pendidikan santri sebab produksi dan pemasaran Kopi dilakukan tidak berkala. Kemandirian pesantren PP Al-Azhar Muncar Banyuwangi juga tidak bergantung pada bisnis Kopi sebab keuntungan daro praktek bisnis Kopi tidak diserap untuk kepentingan pesantren melainkan diperuntukkan untuk mendukung aktivitas organisasi santri. Sedangkan praktek kewirausahaan santri di PP Mukmin Mandiri Sidoarjo menjadi core aktifitas santri sebab produksi dan pemasaran kontrinyu dilakukan setiap hari. Kemandirian pesantren juga terbilang cukup mapan dengan adanya bisnis Kopi dan bisnis-bisnis lain yang dilakukan oleh pesantren. Kata Kunci: Santripreneur, Kemadirian Pesantren, Bisnis Kopi. Abstract: This study aims to discover how students practice entrepreneurship and self-reliance at the Al-Azhar Muncar Islamic boarding school in Banyuwangi and Mukmin Mandiri Sidoarjo. The basis for selecting the research locus is that the two Islamic boarding schools have similarities regarding business practices in the field of buying and selling coffee. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data obtained are primary in nature obtained by interviewing the leader of boarding school (Kiai) and field observations. Besides that, it is also supported by secondary data by examining relevant documents. The results of this study show that the entrepreneurship practices of students at Al-Azhar Muncar Banyuwangi are not the core of students' educational activities because the production and marketing of coffee are carried out irregularly. The independence of the Al-Azhar Muncar Banyuwangi Islamic boarding school also does not depend on the coffee business because the profits from coffee business practices are not absorbed for the benefit of the institution of boarding school but are intended to support the activities of the student organization. Meanwhile, the entrepreneurial practice of students at Mukmin Mandiri Sidoarjo is the core of the activities of the students because continuous production and marketing are carried out every day. The independence of the institution is also well established with the existence of the coffee business and other businesses carried out by the institution of boarding school.
