Abstract

Agricultural land that has low nutrient status can inhibit plant growth, so it is necessary to add nutrients to the soil without causing enviromental damage.  The research was aimed to observed growth response of kangkong on combination NPK and level doses of POC fishery wasted on Inceptisol soil. The research was aimed to observed growth response of kangkong on combination NPK and level doses of POC fishery wasted on Inceptisol soil. This research used a split plot design, the main plot consists of: V0 (without used NPK) and V1 (used NPK).Data analysis using variance with the DSAASTAT application. If the variance shows a significant effect, then it is continued with Duncan’s multiple range test (UJBD) at the 95% level of confidence. The results showed  application of POC based on fishery wasted added with NPK can provide a good responses to the heigh of the kangkong plant, the number of kangkong leaves, the fresh weight of kangkong roots and leaves, the dry weight of kangkong roots and leaves and the increase in the number of AMF spores in the rhizosphere of kangkong plants. The best responsed influence of the growth of kangkong plants was combination of NPK and 75% POC doses based on fishery wasted. Utilization of processed fishery wasted as POC can be alternative as an enviromentally friendly organic fertilizer in increasing the yield of kangkong plants.

Abstract

Microgreens are plants that are harvested very young usually when they are a few days to a few weeks old with a size between 3-10 cm or depending on the type of plant. The advantage of microgreens lies in their high nutritional content, both in terms of vitamins, minerals, and bioactive compounds. The method in this paper uses a literature study (literature review) which collects data from various scientific articles selected and analyzed articles that are relevant to the field of study. The reviewed literature sources come from journals, books, and other research reports. The growth, quantity and quality of harvested microgreens are greatly affected by the cultivation process and the plant variety itself. Many studies have found that light, growing media, nutrient availability and temperature, are components that affect the quality and quantity of microgreens. The content of microgreens itself has been studied to be at least 4 to 40 times the nutritional content of similar mature plants. Microgreens have higher concentrations of bioactive compounds, such as vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, when compared to similar mature plants. It can be concluded that the potential of microgreens is very high to become one of the materials for further studies related to agricultural and health disciplines.

Abstract

Organic fertilizers are materials derived from plant residues, and animal waste, both those that have undergone decomposition and those that are undergoing a decomposition process that functions to add nutrients. Substantially organic fertilizers are composed of humus and non-humus materials so that they can improve marginal soils and sand-dominated soils. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of various organic fertilizers on sand planting media, and to determine the growth response of pakcoy on various types of organic fertilizers. The research was conducted at the Field Laboratory I Experimental Garden and Agrotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Halu Oleo University, the research took place from September to November 2020. This study was arranged in a randomized group design (RAK) with the treatment of various organic fertilizers, which were divided into; no organic fertilizer/control (B0), cow manure (B1), chicken manure (B2), comba-sheep green manure (B3), calopogonium green manure (B4). Each treatment was repeated four times as a group, resulting in 20 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of six polybags, resulting in a total of 120 polybags of pakcoy plants. The variables observed were plant height, number of leaves, fresh weight and dry weight of pakcoy plants. The results showed that organic fertilizer had a very significant effect on all observed growth variables of pakcoy plants. Cow manure treatment in the first and second week plant height variables showed the highest value (5.04 cm, and 6.71 cm). But in general, in the third to fifth week, the average chicken manure gave the highest growth response on the variable of plant height, number of leaves, fresh weight and dry weight of pakcoy plants.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This research was conducted at Klamana, KM 14, East Sorong District, Sorong City, Southwest Papua Province, with the objective of analyzing the correlation between water, dry matter, and sugar level and measuring the sensory properties of root storage on several local Papuan sweet potato genotypes. The research used an experimental method with a Randomized Complete Block Design on 5 sweet potato genotypes (Local Sorong, Mokwam, Koya-4, Koya-5, Soribo), which were repeated 4 times, so that there were 20 experimental units. The results showed that Local Sorong and Mokwam genotypes produced the highest sugar content (14.2 and 15.2 Brix), whereas Soribo genotype produced the highest dry matter content (40.58%), followed by Koya-4 and Koya-6. The correlation coefficient results show that there is a very strong positive relationship between water content and tuber sugar content with a value of r = 0.94, whereas a strong negative correlation coefficient is shown by dry matter content and tuber sugar content with a value of r = 0.94. Based on the testing on sensory characteristics, most of the panelists liked the color of the steamed tubers of Local Sorong, Mokwam, and Koya-4 genotypes. The taste sensory were preferred more in the Local Sorong and Mokwam genotypes by the teenage or younger age category panelists, while Koya-4 was more in the category of mature age panelists. The texture and fibrous feel of the local Sorong and Mokwam steamed tubers were preferred by most of the panelists, because the tuber flesh of both genotypes are soft, easy to digest and smooth.

Abstract

Andisols have very high P retention so that soil needs to be improved through the application of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) biofertilizers. The aim of the experiment was to determine the effect of AMF and rate of NPK on the root colonization, phosphate uptake, fresh weight of shoot and root of kangkong (Ipomea reptans Poir) on Andisols, it was also aimed to reduce the use of NPK fertilizers. The experiment was conducted in screen house Lembang, West Java. The experiment was arranged with Split Plot Design with AMF as the main plot (with and without AMF) and rate of NPK as subplots (0, 25, 50, 75, and 100% recommended dose). Results showed that there was an effect between AMF and NPK on root colonization, P uptake, fresh weight of shoot and root of kangkong. In general, AMF treatment had a significant effect in increasing root colonization, phosphate uptake, fresh weight of shoot and root of kangkong compared to the treatment without AMF. AMF and 50% NPK treatment showed the best effect on yield of kangkong, hence application of AMF has potential to reduce the use of NPK fertilizer by 50% and increase the productivity of kangkong in Andisols.
