Abstract

Most of the students got low scores in reading and understanding the material in online classes, this situation should be attention to Merdeka Curriculum. Most of the students lack interest in learning reading in an online class, because the learning methods in reading did not attract students, so the students had difficulty in answering explicit and implicit questions in reading comprehension. The purpose of this research is to determine the significant differences before and after using the brain mapping method in students' reading comprehension. This research designed as quantitative research that used one group pre-test and post-test design. sample amounted to 35 students. Collecting data used documentation and reading comprehension tests which were analyzed using Paired T-test with the help of SPSS 18 for Windows and N-Gain using Microsoft Excel. The post-test average learning outcome (77,29) was greater than the pretest (69.00). The results of the paired t-test showed the significance value (2-tailed) was 0.000 means there was significant effectiveness before and after using the Brain Mapping method toward Blogger as the online media for learning reading. The results of N-Gain showed the students’ learning outcomes improved from 35 students, 21 (60%) students got improvement in the medium category and 14 (40%) students got improvement in the low category. Brain mapping method combined with rewards and interesting materials can improve student achievement where students are more active and enthusiastic in the online teaching and learning process.,

Abstract

Studying morphosyntax is important in the study of linguistics and the topic of morphosyntax is very often considered as difficult to learn. However, several problems still occur in almost every linguistics class including problems from the students’ characteristics, learning materials, teaching strategies, etc. Therefore, the researchers conducted a preliminary study in a linguistic class. Based on the preliminary study, it was discovered that most of the students involved in the study lacked motivation to study linguistic especially in studying morphosyntax and lacked sources to study morphosyntax. The lecturer also had some difficulties in providing morphosyntax material which could motivate the students to learn morphosyntax with ease and which was suitable for the curriculum standards well as the students’ need. Because of those problems, this research aimed to develop supplementary morphosyntax materials for university students which could help them to cope with their problems in studying morphosyntax through providing the easy-to-understand supplementary material which accommodated the students’ needs. It is expected that this research can inspire the lecturers who teach linguistics to become more creative and innovative in providing materials which match the students’ need and syllabus. However, this supplementary material is only one of the alternatives that can be used to assist the learning process. Thus, it can also be combined with other resources. To achieve the aim of this study, the researcher used research and development design by following Borg and Gall model. The researcher did the preliminary study, designed the problem solving and developed the supplementary material since at the end of November 2016. The researcher also conducted expert validations for the product, revised the product draft, applied the product, revised the product again, conducted the second product implementation, had another product validation, and finally had the final product in the form of morphosyntax module.

Abstract

The target of goal in this study analyzed the instructional documents’ problem in teaching branch linguistic aspect such as morpheme, syntax, linguistic, semantic, sociolinguistic etc. The second target analyzed the lecturers’ complication to stimulate the students’ motivation in linguistic area. The last target is analyzed the students’ need to achieve their knowledge in all of linguistic area. The researchers conducted this research as Collaborative Classroom Action Research (CCAR) because the researchers do it in a team. This research is the revolution of English study toward Productive Reading Technique which combines all of the English skill such as reading, speaking, writing and listening. The researcher designed this technique based on the students’ need and the newest standard curriculum. The researchers selected the sample as purpossive technique sampling for the students who are taking the sociolinguistic subject. Getting the real information toward observations, spread out questionnaire paper and interview all of subject learning is the important instrument in this research. In this study, the researcher used some stages in collecting data, namely: collecting data from all aspect, tabulation, data analyzed, and making result based on the data collections. From the information above, the researchers got result that all of the branch of linguistic area still used old method such as speech form lecturer and boring discussion, the lecturer need renew their sources leaning based on the latest curriculum and students’ need, more than 70 % the students explain that they need the new book which relevance with the newest knowledge and method.

Abstract

The objective of this particular research and development is to produce the supplementary materials to encourage the students’ academic writing for University students in second semester. Based on the preliminary study conducted by the researcher, it was discovered that most of the learner lacked motivation to create a simple paragraph in writing skill because the instructional document problems. To achieve the aim of this study, R&D proposed by Borg and Gall (1983: 771-789) as follows the need assessment and reference, developing material, product validation, implementation of the product and final product. The product designed with Contextual Teaching Learning (CTL) method which has the challenging activities with relating, experiencing, applying, collaborating, and transferring. To collect the relevant information, the researcher used guided questionnaire for students, interviews for teachers, a checklist form and suggestions for expert validation. The results of the data analysis from expert validation indicated that there were some strong and weak points of the materials developed so that the weak ones needed to be revised. To know the applicability of material developed, it is needed to apply the product in the real field. The implication of this product was divided into three points namely, the students could achieve the writing skill around 87%, the students’ motivation also improve around 88% and around 88% of the student could give the feedback about writing problem. Finally, the researcher suggests the teachers and students to use this supplementary material in teaching writing activities for the second semester students of University to enhance students’ ability in writing.

Abstract

This study used the classroom action research (PTK) method, with a sample size of 24 students at MTs Al-Fattah Mojokerto for the 2022/2023 academic year. By using diary media to train students' writing skills, the research instruments were questionnaires, sheets, field notes, tests, and documentation. The data analysis technique in this study was the average pretest and posttest scores. if in cycle I there are several students who are not successful then the researcher holds cycle II and if in cycle II it is still not fulfilled then the researcher continues to cycle III, if it is felt that cycle III has been fulfilled then the cycle can be stopped. The results in this study the researchers completed in cycle III with satisfactory results, because in cycle I and cycle II it was felt that they did not meet the score set by the researcher Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK), dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 24 siswa MTs Al-Fattah Mojokerto tahun ajaran 2022/2023. Dengan menggunakan media buku harian untuk melatih keterampilan menulis siswa, instrumen penelitiannya adalah angket, lembar, catatan lapangan, tes, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data pada penelitian ini adalah rata-rata nilai pretest dan posttest. apabila pada siklus I ada beberapa siswa yang belum berhasil maka peneliti mengadakan siklus II dan apabila pada siklus II masih belum terpenuhi maka peneliti melanjutkan ke siklus III, jika dirasa siklus III sudah terpenuhi maka siklus dapat dilakukan. dihentikan. Hasil penelitian ini peneliti tuntaskan pada siklus III dengan hasil yang memuaskan, karena pada siklus I dan siklus II dirasa belum memenuhi nilai yang ditetapkan peneliti.

Abstract

The aims of this study were: 1. To analyze the enthusiasm of class X students before using scrapbook media in learning English functional text material at Nganjuk 2 Public High School, 2) To analyze the enthusiasm of class X students after using scrapbook media in learning English functional text material at Nganjuk 2 Public High School, 3) To determine the effectiveness of scrapbooks in increasing student enthusiasm in learning English functional text material at Nganjuk 2 Public High School. The research design uses quantitative and this type of research uses pre-experimental with one-group pretest-posttest. This research was conducted at Nganjuk 2 Public High School in the 2022/2023 academic year, using a population of all class X students of Nganjuk 2 Public High School, the sample used by the author was class X-9, the treatment class consisted of 31 students. The sampling technique used purposive sampling. Collecting data in this study using a questionnaire test. The analytical technique used to analyze the data in this study is descriptive statistics, inferential statistics using the t-test. Based on test scores. Students get an average pre-test score of 75.935 and an average post-test score of 84.193. Based on the results of the analysis, it is known that the significant level is 5% for Df = 30, the value of tcount = 6.622 and ttable = 1.697, then tcount ttable which means Ha is accepted. So that "Scrapbooks are effective in increasing student interest in learning functional texts in class X SMA Negeri 2 Nganjuk in the 2022/2023 Academic Year".
