Abstract

In the context of a pluralistic society, Islamic education is required to be able to form tolerant and inclusive characters, and create a learning environment that is not only religious, but also emphasizes the aspect of diversity. And some madrasas still position da'wah as a religious ritual, whereas in essence da'wah as the core of Islamic teachings has the potential to be an integral part of the education system, not only limited to religious activities, but also as a means of character formation and creating a harmonious life in a multicultural society. The approach used is descriptive qualitative with a phenomenological research type, through in-depth interview techniques, participatory observation, and documentation. This study aims to examine the inclusive institutional development model through the integration of da'wah in the process of transforming multicultural Islamic education in Madrasah Ibtida'iyyah, with a focus on a case study at MI Ma’arif Kedung Solo, Porong, Sidoarjo, East Java. The results of the study indicate that the integration of da'wah has been substantively realized in various institutional activities in madrasas, such as in the curriculum, school culture, and the role of teachers as agents of multicultural da'wah. This study also formulates an institutional development model that places da'wah as a transformative element in creating a learning environment that is friendly to diversity and encourages the participation of all madrasah residents. Thus, madrasahs are not only centers of religious learning, but also centers of civilization that foster solidarity, respect differences, and strengthen the values of Islam rahmatan lil 'alamin.

Abstract

This paper discusses prophetic leadership in Islamic educational institutions of Pondok Pesantren Islamic University of Indonesia (PP UII). Prophetic leadership is a strategic offer in the discourse of Islamic leadership. There are three basic principles of prophetic leadership: humanization, liberation, and transcendence. These three principles are internalized in the leadership patterns applied by the leaders at Pondok Pesantren Islamic University of Indonesia (PP UII). Leadership in PP UII is different from pesantren in general. If the pesantren generally put forward the leadership of charismatic, while the leadership in PP UII put forward the style of legal leadership. The legal authorities make it more necessary to work together systemically in realizing the vision and mission of the establishment of pesantren. Leadership in pesantren with a periodization system allows for a different concept of understanding of the vision and mission of pesantren between one leader and his successor. Thus, the system and the blueprint of leadership must be clear and mature so that whoever leads the establishment of pesantren remains well done

Abstract

This study investigates the post-Hajj da'wah initiatives of the Indonesian Hajj Brotherhood Association (IPHI), with a focus on its role in fostering social cohesion and community empowerment among Hajj alumni in a pluralistic society. While existing research on Hajj pilgrimage has primarily centered on ritual dimensions or state regulation, little attention has been given to the post-pilgrimage civic and da'wah activities facilitated by community-based organizations such as IPHI. Addressing this gap, the study explores how IPHI Kapanewon Tempel functions as a local model of religious engagement and social mobilization after Hajj. Employing a qualitative case study approach, this research highlights the selection of IPHI Tempel due to its active engagement in grassroots da'wah and intergroup dialogue. The findings reveal that IPHI not only reinforces Islamic values among returning pilgrims but also contributes to broader social harmony through inclusive educational and social programs. This study offers a novel perspective by framing post-Hajj religious activism as a form of localized civic da'wah, thus expanding the discourse on pilgrimage beyond its ritual boundaries. The research contributes to understanding how religious organizations transform spiritual experiences into sustained community action in multicultural contexts.
