Abstract

Abstract: Green architecture approach comes as a solution of solving the energy and environmental crises. Boyolali regency office became the research object by focusing on the value of embodied energy to determine and evaluate the energy consumed from the manufacturing of the material until the construction phase. This study uses a simulation method with modeling strategy at the masterplan area and the existing area to measure the embodied energy of the buildings. The results showed that the larger of the ground floor area, the greater of the embodied energy value of the building. In addition, a building which has more floors will save the value of the embodied energy compared to a one floor building with the same floor area. The existing condition showed the saving of the embodied energy value by 22.64% towards the masterplan because of its smaller total ground floor area. The impact of the floor area and floor number is used in determining the design recommendations by combining several buildings into one building to reduce the total floor area as well as to convert most buildings into two-story buildings. The simulation results from the proposed recommendation showed the efficiency of the embodied energy value, which is more optimal, by 21,76% towards the existing condition.Keywords: green architecture, embodied energy, office area, energy efficiencyAbstrak: Pendekatan arsitektur hijau hadir sebagai solusi dalam mengatasi permasalahan energi dan lingkungan. Kantor pemerintahan Boyolali dijadikan sebagai objek penelitian dengan berfokus pada nilai embodied energy untuk menentukan dan mengevaluasi energi yang digunakan dari proses pengolahan material bangunan hingga fase konstruksi bangunan. Penelitian menggunakan metode simulasi dengan strategi pemodelan pada masterplan kawasan serta kondisi eksisting kawasan untuk mengukur nilai embodied energy bangunan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin besar luas permukaan lantai bangunan, semakin besar nilai embodied energy pada bangunan tersebut. Selain itu, jumlah lantai yang lebih banyak akan menghemat nilai embodied energy jika dibandingkan dengan bangunan satu lantai dengan luas lantai dasar yang sama. Kondisi eksisting menunjukkan penghematan nilai embodied energy sebesar 22,64% terhadap masterplan karena memiliki luas total lantai dasar lebih kecil. Dampak dari luas lantai dasar dan jumlah lantai digunakan dalam menentukan rekomendasi desain dengan menggabungkan beberapa bangunan menjadi satu untuk mengurangi luasan total lantai dasar sekaligus menjadikan bangunan-bangunan yang ada menjadi gedung berlantai dua. Hasil simulasi dari rekomendasi yang diusulkan menunjukkan efisiensi nilai embodied energy yang lebih optimal sebesar 21,76% terhadap kondisi eksisting.Kata kunci: arsitektur hijau, embodied energy, kawasan perkantoran, efisiensi energi

Abstract

Abstract: Pencahayaan alami menjadi aspek penting yang harus diperhatikan dalam proses perancangan arsitektur saat ini. Selain untuk menunjang kenyamanan visual, pencahayaan alami yang baik dapat meminimalisir penggunaan pencahayaan buatan pada siang hari. Ruang perpustakaan Fakultas Ushuluddin dan Humaniora UIN Walisongo Semarang menjadi objek penelitian dengan berfokus pada evaluasi dan optimalisasi pencahayaan alami dalam ruangan. Penelitian menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan strategi penelitian pemodelan dan simulasi pada software Dialux Evo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa intensitas cahaya alami ruang perpustakaan saat ini masih kurang dari standar. Optimalisasi pada beberapa elemen ruang menjadi strategi yang digunakan untuk memaksimalkan pencahayaan alami dalam ruangan. Penambahan area bukaan dan penataan furniture interior dapat meningkatkan intensitas cahaya alami hingga mencapai standar pada SNI dan greenship GBCI. Penggunaan elemen shading horizontal dapat meminimalisir efek silau dalam ruangan meskipun intensitas cahaya alami dalam ruangan menjadi lebih kecil. Dari seluruh tahap simulasi yang dilakukan, optimalisasi pencahayaan alami tidak selalu menghasilkan intensitas cahaya ruangan yang paling tinggi. Standar-standar yang mengatur tentang pencahayaan alami dalam ruangan dapat menjadi acuan dalam proses optimalisasi ruangan. Meskipun begitu, optimalisasi dilakukan tanpa mengorbankan aspek kenyamanan yang lain seperti efek silau.Kata kunci: pencahayaan alami; kenyamanan visual; dialux evo; optimalisasi ruangan.Title: Optimization of Daylighting In The Library of Islamic State University of Walisongo SemarangAbstract: Daylighting is an important aspect that must be considered in the current architectural design process. In addition to support visual comfort, good Daylighting can minimize the use of artificial lighting during the day. The library of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Humanities UIN Walisongo Semarang becomes the research object by focusing on evaluating and optimizing Daylighting in the room. This research uses quantitative methods with modeling and simulation strategies on Dialux Evo. The results showed that light intensity in the room was less than the specified standard. Optimization of several space elements becomes a strategy used to maximize the daylighting in the room. The addition of the windows and arrangement of interior furniture can increase the intensity of daylighting until it reaches the standards on SNI and greenship GBCI. The use of horizontal shading elements can minimize the glare effect in the room although the intensity of daylighting in the room becomes smaller. From all simulation phases carried out, optimizing the daylighting does not always produce the highest light intensity. The standards of daylighting can be a reference in the process of optimizing a room. Even though, the optimization is done without sacrificing other aspects of comfort such as glare effects.Keywords: daylighting;, visual comfort; dialux evo; room optimization.

Abstract

Title: The Study of Ecological Concept in the Central Library of Gadjah Mada University Ecological architecture becomes one of the concept as well as solutions in the building design which minimizes environmental damages and maintains the quality of human life. The central library of Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta is used as the research object to rate its ecological level. This study uses a quantitative method to rate its ecological level based on the ecological design principles of Sim Van der Ryn such as ecological accounting, design with nature, and making nature visible. The assessment parameters are based on some references such as the greenship of GBCI, the principles of tropical architecture, and the principle of building accessibility. The results showed that generally, the library has applied ecological concept well through some strategies such as extensive greening, energy efficiency, adequate natural lighting, slim building masses, shading elements, and some facilities for the difable. Some measurements are done to find out the ecological performance of the building such as energy efficiency by 39.17%; daylighting 300 lux at 60.67% of indoor area, visualization of solar radiation reception, and OTTV value by 19,85 watt/m2. However, there are some necessary evaluations such as leakage on the ceiling or the application of greenroof that can be further optimized.

Abstract

Isu pemanasan global akhir-akhir ini telah memberikan dampak yang besar seperti perubahan pola iklim, krisis sumber daya alam, dan pencemaran limbah. Konsep arsitektur hijau menjadi salah satu konsep yang diharapkan mampu menjadi solusi atas isu-isu lingkungan. Di Indonesia, terdapat lembaga Green Building Council Indonesia atau GBCI sebagai lembaga mandiri yang berkomitmen dalam mengawal perencanaan dan perancangan pembangunan berbasis arsitektur hijau. Untuk perangkat tolok ukur bangunan hijau di Indonesia, GBCI mengeluarkan sistem rating yang dikenal dengan nama Greenship. Greenship ini disusun dengan mempertimbangkan kondisi, karakter alam, peraturan, dan standar yang berlaku di Indonesia. Penelitian ini berfokus pada pengkajian parameter arsitektur hijau berdasarkan rumusan yang terdapat dalam dokumen Greenship terhadap kasus-kasus bangunan gedung yang disiapkan setiap mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan strategi eksperimental dan simulasi menggunakan beberapa software simulasi. Evaluasi pemahaman mahasiswa terhadap setiap kategori pada Greenship dilakukan dengan menggunakan teknik kuisioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setiap kategori yang ada pada greenship dapat membantu dalam mengidentifikasi berbagai macam faktor dalam bangunan yang menunjang konsep arsitektur hijau. Melalui kuisioner yang dibagikan, mahasiswa secara umum merasa terbantu dalam memahami konsep arsitektur hijau melalui praktek penilaian Greenship pada kasus suatu bangunan.

Abstract

Planetarium UIN Walisongo is an educational facility that not only accommodates academic needs but is also projected to become a tourism destination in Semarang. The density of activity is the main focus that must be considered. The building's existence in the middle of the campus also demands that it has good visual access. The study focused on configuration and visibility analysis by looking at their effect on accessibility around the building. The research was conducted using quantitative methods with a descriptive and simulation framework. The simulation process is carried out using a space syntax approach with Depthmap software. Macroanalysis shows that the building is located in the central area with a relatively high integration value. The high intelligence value shows that the spatial configuration is relatively easy to recognize. The wide and integrated road makes this area have relatively high visibility. Microanalysis shows that the pedestrian around the Planetarium is not well connected. Space engineering by connecting pedestrians is carried out to provide better accessibility. Achievement efficiency is the main consideration to produce a high value of integration and visibility around the building. Therefore, the area quality will be better with an accessible space on macro and micro scales

Abstract

As a new Edu-tourism in the middle of the campus environment, the Planetarium building has a strong attraction both from academics and from the general public. High activity in the area around the Planetarium needs special attention, one of which is pedestrians. The study focused on accessibility analysis by looking at its effect on the quality of the spatial configuration. The research was conducted using quantitative methods with a descriptive and simulation research framework. The simulation process is carried out using a space syntax approach with the DepthmapX software. The existing condition shows that several pedestrian sections around the building are not connected to each other. This results in the circulation not running optimally and can interfere with the comfort of pedestrians. Spatial engineering is carried out by connecting disconnected pedestrian sections with the concept of continuous footways and continuous crossing. Space engineering considers sustainability and mileage aspects to provide effective and efficient accessibility. This scenario produces a new pedestrian that is interconnected and has a high value of integration and intelligence. In general, this engineering model can at least provide a measurable picture of how to respond to dense human activities and movements, which cannot be achieved from field observations alone.

Abstract

During an art and architecture exhibition, the gallery building becomes a crowded space where the interior quality can influence visitors visual comfort. High density caused by an unstructured layout can lead to a low quality visibility. Galeri Nusantara was used as a case study in this research by focusing on visibility optimization using a space syntax approach with Depthmap application. The analysis was carried out based on the VGA (visibility graph analysis) map on the visual integration [HH] parameter. Modeling was made in several layouts that were possible to implement. The results show that the distribution of the highest and lowest visibility levels for each layout is relatively similar. Small differences occur when there is a change from pustek to panel board arrangement. The quality of visibility is reflected in the visibility area coverage and the R2 value which describes the relationship between connectivity and visual integration. The VGA map shows that the use of pustek provides optimal visibility as indicated by the high R2 value. The low R2 values are more common in panel board arrangements because there are areas with low visibility within a fairly wide coverage area. It results in overall low R2 value in the gallery.

Abstract

This study focuses on measuring the shading effect of surrounding buildings on the thermal performance of office buildings in Jakarta. It is compared with the shading effect of shading devices to optimize its use. This study uses EnergyPlus program to simulate a hypothetical 3x3block. The results showed that the H/W ratio has greater influence on building thermal performance than the surrounding building envelopes. With H/W ratio 2,7, the shading effect of surrounding buildings will be equivalent to 1,2m shading with an effective shadow angle of more than 360. For example, in a 10 floor building, the use of 1,2m shading is not required until the 8th floor based on the shadow angle in H/W ratio 2,7. At a smaller angle, the shading effect of surrounding buildings will be equal to the shading effect of shading devices with a width of less than 1,2m.

Abstract

Several strategies in reducing external heat gain sometimes have an impact on limited access to daylight in buildings. Therefore, an integrated study is needed between thermal and daylight performance of the building. This research focuses on building modeling and simulation on one of the buildings at UIN Walisongo Semarang to see these two parameters based on Standard Nasional Indonesia. The thermal performance through OTTV value is simulated using EnergyPlus, while the building daylight is simulated using Dialux. The existing condition showed that the thermal performance is not fully integrated with the building natural lighting. Further simulation is needed through the building envelope engineering. The results showed that the entire room has met the standard of natural lighting while maintaining the OTTV value according to the standard. This condition is the optimal point which represents the integration between thermal and daylight performance of the building.
