Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of destination image and sharia value on tourist satisfaction, with tourist loyalty as a mediating variable in the context of halal tourism in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The research used a quantitative approach through a survey of 305 Muslim tourists. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression and mediation analysis with the causal steps approach through EViews software. The research results indicate that destination image significantly influences tourist loyalty but does not directly affect tourist satisfaction. Conversely, sharia values positively and significantly impact both tourist loyalty and satisfaction. Tourist loyalty significantly influences satisfaction and acts as a mediator in the relationship between destination image and tourist satisfaction, as well as a partial mediator between sharia values and tourist satisfaction. The results of the mediation test show that tourist loyalty acts as a full mediator in the relationship between destination image and tourist satisfaction, and as a partial mediator in the relationship between Sharia values and tourist satisfaction. This finding emphasizes the importance of Sharia values and loyalty in enhancing halal tourist satisfaction

Abstract

This article seeks to examine the ideological dimensions and interests embedded within Al-Ghazali’s interpretation of the Qur’an through the lens of Hans-Georg Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics. Its significance lies in addressing the often-adversarial positioning of hermeneutic debates in Qur’anic studies vis-à-vis classical tafsir methodologies, which tend to create a dichotomy between traditional and modern approaches. Moreover, there exists a lacuna in scholarship concerning the influence of subjectivity, ideology, and historical context on Qur’anic interpretation in classical works, particularly within Al-Ghazali’s thought. Employing a qualitative methodology, this research utilises descriptive-analytical and critical-comparative approaches. The data are analysed through Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics, which foregrounds historicity, prejudice, and the interpreter’s subjectivity in the process of textual understanding. The findings indicate that Al-Ghazali applied the method of illumination to apprehend the objective meaning of God’s message. Nonetheless, his interpretation also incorporates ideological elements that delimit the text to specific meanings, endorse his own group, and position others as objects within the interpretative discourse. Furthermore, the study suggests that hermeneutics should not be regarded as a threat to the authority of classical tafsir; rather, it may serve as a reflective instrument for recognising the dimensions of historicity, subjectivity, and social context in interpretation. The contribution of this research lies in its endeavour to establish a dialogical perspective between hermeneutics and classical tafsir, thereby situating debates on hermeneutics within the framework of open, critical, and proportionate academic ijtihad, as opposed to a logic of exclusivism or mutual negation.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of halal facilities and service quality on Muslim tourists' visit intention to Taman Sari Yogyakarta, with perceived value serving as a moderating variable. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 50 Muslim tourists who had previously visited Taman Sari Yogyakarta. The sample was selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria, namely Muslim tourists who had visited the destination and were willing to participate in the study. Data were analyzed using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics 27. The results indicate that halal facilities do not have a significant effect on Muslim tourists' visit intention. Likewise, service quality does not significantly influence visit intention. In contrast, perceived value has a positive and significant effect on visit intention. Furthermore, the moderating analysis reveals that perceived value is unable to moderate the relationship between halal facilities and visit intention. However, perceived value significantly moderates the relationship between service quality and visit intention in a positive direction. These findings suggest that Muslim tourists place greater emphasis on the value derived from their tourism experience rather than on halal facilities or service quality alone. Therefore, managers of cultural tourism destinations should focus on enhancing tourists' perceived value and overall travel experience in order to increase visit intention.
