Abstract

Quality control is conducted to minimize the reject of production. Quality of bottom is one of the important factors in making shoes. The bottom quality standards are determined based on the strength of glue adhesion between the components. The study was held at one of sport shoe companies from 13th March to 13th April 2017 with the purpose to reveal the quality control of the stockfit process to the test results of running shoes bonding bottom with cementing method. The stockfit process consists of few steps, for instance outsole buffing, outsole trimming, setting bottom, primering, cementing, attaching, pressing, press pong-pong, and cooling. Finished products were tested in the laboratory by random sampling. The quality control of running-shoe bottom stockfit process uses Plan-Do-Check-Action (PDCA) method in each process and is continued by analyzing the result of bonding test by adapting quality control tools. The result of the analysis shows the cause of failure of bonding or reject due to less perfect glue adhesiveness between midsole / outsole by 71,11%, midsole / midsole2 3,33%, midsole1,2 / gel outside 3,33%, midsole1,3 / gel heel back of 18.89%, and midsole/shank is 3.33%. Quality control at this company has been well implemented.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to know the process of making outsole with injection molding machine along with the problems and solutions by observation, interview, and internship program in the company. The material used is thermoplastic rubber (TPR) with hardness 70-75. The method used is injection molding. The process of outsole production begins with machine preparation, and is followed by material preparation, injection process, checking, finishing, packing and delivery. The result shows that Chancay finished goods were tested manually with the organoleptic and physical methods in accordance with the provision of the buyers. Percentage of the outsole rejects is amounted up to 7,57 % from the results of the production; i.e short shoot and sponge. Problem solving proposed is to adjust the machine settings on optimal conditions with the temperature of the nozzle 175°C. of barrel zone I 175°C, of zone II 170°C, and of zone III 165°C. An optimal cooling time is four seconds and optimal injection time is eight seconds, in which trial was conducted and obtained improvement of outsole quality and reject product reduction as much as 4.9 %. In conclusion the outsole should be produced by both appropriate and controlled machine setting parameters in accordance with the on-time availability of materials in the injection molding process.

Abstract

As a shoe bottom component, outsole has an important role to give comfort and safety for users, therefore its quality must fulfill the standard. Defect of a product is one of quality indicator which can be directly noticed by consumers. The purpose of this study is to provide information about the application of Six Sigma method with DMAIC concept to improve the outsole quality of sports capsule shoes “Geoff”. Data of the outsole production of sport capsule shoes “Geoff” are required. The results show that the dominant defect is colour migration. The calculation shows that DPU is valued 0,2123, DPO 0,0009097, DPMO 14,2146, and sigma 3; and the result of statistic test for Chi – Square is 4,628. The analyzed result shows that the defect is caused by several factors, they are material, human, machine and method. Repairing action of the defect is done by using Poka – Yoke. The Six Sigma can be applied to Outsole Company in order to suppress the defect until it reaches the least value (Zero Defect) i.e. 3,4 ppm.

Abstract

Teknik modular cukup populer dalam perancangan produk berkelanjutan. Hal ini berkaitan dengan kemudahan untuk melakukan modifikasi atau pengembangan desain secara berkelanjutan. Teknik modular dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif cara untuk memaksimalkan pengolahan perca kulit. Perca kulit yang terdiri dari potongan – potongan kecil sisa hasil produksi produk kulit dapat dirakit menjadi produk baru menggunakan teknik modular. Perca kulit yang masih dalam bentuk abstrak dapat di transformasi menjadi bentuk tertentu dengan tambahan kaitan yang di rancang untuk menghasilkan bentuk akhir yang lebih spesifik. Pemanfaatan perca kulit ini salah satu bentuk pelestarian lingkungan serta peningkatan nilai ekonomi dari sisa produksi produk kulit tersebut. Modular dapat dibuat menjadi berbagai bentuk dan cara penyatuan antar modul. Untuk menambahkan unsur Indonesia maka dilakukan transformasi budaya dimana bentuk akhir modular dapat berupa bentuk yang memiliki unsur rupa ragam hias motif kawung. Motif kawung sendiri merupakan ragam hias klasik yang memiliki makna dalam mengenai kehidupan manusia. Pada tahapan brainstorming ditinjau secara mendalam bentuk dari ragam hias kawung serta unsur – unsur yang terkandung di dalamnya. Selanjutnya bentuk tersebut dieksplorasi untuk mencari bentuk yang tepat sesuai dengan makna dari ragam hias kawung serta kuncian yang dapat digunakan untuk menyatukan komponen – komponen modular. Dari eksperimen yang dilakukan maka akan didapatkan bentuk atau desain modular dengan bentuk yang memiliki unsur ciri ragam hias kawung
