Abstract

This research is entitled Factors Influencing District/City Economic Inequality in Jambi Province in 2015-2018. This study aims to analyze the effect of Agglomeration, Labor, and Investment on Regency/City Economic Inequality in Jambi Province in 2015-2018. The analytical method used in this study is panel data regression for the 2015-2018 period which comes from the Jambi Central Bureau of Statistics. Statistical testing includes Common, Fixed, and Random tests, as well as conducting the Chow Test and Hausman Test to obtain the test to be selected. The results of the data analysis show that among the three agglomeration variables (X1) it has a sig. (0.040) < (0.05), so it partially has a significant effect on economic inequality in Jambi Province in 2015-2018. Labor variable (X2) has a sig. (0.8846) (0.05), so partially it has no significant effect on economic inequality in Jambi Province in 2015-2018. Investment (X3) Investment (X3) has a sig. (0.407) (0.05), so partially it has no significant effect on economic inequality in Jambi Province in 2015-2018. Simultaneously obtain a calculated F value of 4.460 with a Probability value (Prob F-statistic) of 0.000. Because the probability value is 0.000 <0.05 (α) and F count (358.6774) > F table (2.78), it can be concluded that all independent variables namely agglomeration, number of workers, investment together have a significant effect on economic inequality in Jambi Province from 2015 to 2018. Based on the value of the coefficient of determination, the independent variables in the equation, namely agglomeration, labor, and investment jointly affect 65.9% of economic inequality in Jambi Province in 2015-2018, while the remaining 24.1% is explained by other factors outside the model.

Abstract

Productivity and product quality are very low due to cultivation methods and post-harvest processes and gambier processing that are not optimal and the lack of technological support for gambier processing. The very low level of productivity causes the amount of production produced to also be low. The decrease in the value of gambier productivity indicates that there has been inefficiency of farmers in allocating existing production factors. This research is associative with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were 18,547 gambier farmers and the sampling technique was random sampling. So in this study using a sample of 100 respondents. This study uses Multiple Linear Regression Analysis with the help of SPSS version 25. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of the use of production factors in the form of land area, labor, gambier prices on gambier production. The results showed that the variables of land area and labor could increase the amount of gambier production positively and significantly. Gambier price variable has a positive and insignificant effect on the amount of gambier production.

Abstract

This study is situated within the growing attention to non-traditional family structures and their economic dynamics, particularly in contexts where cultural norms and religious values intersect with household decision-making. It examines how Muslim single-parent families in West Sumatra manage household economics within a matrilineal cultural setting. The study aims to understand income management, expenditure prioritization, and economic coping strategies under conditions of income instability and intensive caregiving responsibilities. A qualitative case study approach is employed, drawing on in-depth interviews with single-parent household heads and analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings reveal that these households operate as active and adaptive microeconomic units. Income management commonly relies on a single primary livelihood or a limited combination of flexible informal activities. Expenditures are structured hierarchically, prioritizing basic needs, children’s education as a long-term investment, and health care as situational spending, with halal consumption serving as a guiding principle. Coping strategies include consumption control, income diversification, and reliance on extended family and social networks as informal safety nets, reinforced by the matrilineal kinship system. Economic decisions are shaped not only by rational considerations but also by internalized Islamic values such as nafkah, amanah, moderation (wasatiyyah), and perceptions of barakah. These findings highlight the importance of integrating household economics with Islamic and socio-cultural perspectives to better understand economic behavior in Muslim single-parent households and to inform more context-sensitive policy and empowerment strategies.
