Abstract

The presence of water hyacinth in waters can be a threat to aquatic ecosystems. Its naturally fast growth and excess nutrients in the waters cause its growth to become uncontrollable. So it is necessary to handle the biomass and produce it. One thing that can be done is to turn it into organic fertilizer. The problem is, water hyacinth is a lead (Pb) hyperaccumulator plant. So that the biomass produced by water hyacinth contains a large amount of Pb. This study aims to see the effect of vermicomposting on the amount of Pb contained in water hyacinth biomass. The research began by converting water hyacinth biomass into a living medium for earthworms. Changes in Pb levels were observed before and after the earthworms were added. The results found a change with an average initial content of 2.7857 ppm to 2.0477 ppm. So from this study, it was found that the decrease in Pb levels was 26.4924% Keywords: waterhyacinth, hyperaccumulator,biomass, earthworm, vermicomposting.

Abstract

Wuluh star fruit is a plant that is rich in benefits. The population of this plant is very abundant in the community both in the yard or as a shade plant in the yard. The population of this plant is not proportional to its utilization so that the star fruit usually falls and rots. Seeing this, a community service activity was carried out regarding the use of starfruit into dish soap, which besides being able to add to the economic value of starfruit, can also reduce environmental pollution. Wuluh star fruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) contains saponins, flavonoids, acetic acid, and vitamin C. Saponins have the ability to kill bacteria while flavonoids can destroy bacterial proteins by lysis method so that bacteria cannot reproduce and die. Saponins also function as a foam producer so that they can be used in the manufacture of dish soap. Keywords: Wuluh star fruit, saponin, dish soap

Abstract

Peroksida merupakan senyawa reaktif yang umumnya terbentuk pada minyak jelantah akibat interaksi antara minyak goreng dan oksigen selama proses pemanasan. Hidroksiapatit yang berasal dari tulang ayam memiliki potensi signifikan untuk menghilangkan peroksida karena struktur berporinya serta adanya gugus aktif yang melimpah yang mampu mengikat molekul peroksida. Kapasitas adsorpsi hidroksiapatit berbasis tulang ayam dapat ditingkatkan melalui penghilangan hambatan pada struktur porinya. Dalam penelitian ini, natrium hidroksida (NaOH) digunakan sebagai aktivator kimia dengan variasi konsentrasi 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, dan 25% (b/v). Nilai peroksida ditentukan sesuai dengan prosedur yang tercantum dalam SNI 2902:2011. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi NaOH optimal adalah 15%, yang menghasilkan kapasitas adsorpsi tertinggi sebesar 19,7820%.

Abstract

The ideal quality of lubricant can be obtained by adding additives. One of the functions of additives in lubricants is to maintain viscosity against temperature changes. Dithiocarbamate complexes with heavy metals have very low solubility in water so that dithiocarbamate compounds have great potential as additives in lubricants. This research was conducted in an effort to determine the effect of temperature (40 oC and 100 oC) on the viscosity of the lubricant and metal ions (Mn2+, Fe3+, Co2+) in the synthesis of dithiocarbamate complex compounds on their potential as additives in lubricants. This compound was synthesized by in situ method and to measure and compare the viscosity of the lubricant before and after the addition of the complex compound as an additive.The results showed that complex compounds from N-ethylisopropylditiocarbamate ligands could be synthesized with metal ions Mn(II), Fe(III) and Co(II). Where is the synthesis of complex compounds obtained yields Mn(II)-N-ethylisopropylditiocarbamate amounted to 49.59%, Fe(III)-N-Ethylisopropyldithiocarbamate of 41.81%,and Co(II)-N-Etilisopropil ditiocarbamate by64.12%.From the results of the characterization of the viscosity test, it can be seen that temperature and metal ions in complex compounds affect their potential effectiveness as additives in lubricants. Of the three complex compounds it is more effective at 100 oC than 40 oC, where metal ions Mn (II) are more effective than Fe(III) and Co (II).
