Abstract

The house of worship is seen as a small part of the religious entity of Indonesiansociety. But can not hide the fact that the house of worship closed to acontacting area of conflict-prone. The discourses of religious houses of worshipshould be the object of serious discussion until they have a comfortable placein the hearts of all religious communities. It is a phenomenal fact, in whichthe establishment of the house of worship has become an area of competitionfor justice and freedom as well as tolerance among Indonesian religiouscommunities. Governments in cooperation with interfaith leaders continuallystrive to revise the law and policy products governing the religious life of thepeople, in the hope that legal production becomes a tool to connect the factsof Indonesia’s differences in many things including religion. Therefore, it’sneeded an emancipative, equalitive and inclusive law products. In 2006, thegovernment issued a legal basis for the dissemination of religious houses ofworship in Indonesia, called the “Peraturan Bersama Menteri” (PBM). Thegovernment proves the presence of the state in the matter of building a houseof worship, through PBM numb. 9 and 8 2006. But it turns out after theimplementation of the PBM, the issue surrounding the establishment of thehouse of worship even increased by almost the same reason that paradigmmajority versus minorities tend to destructive, clash of view to differences andalso even including legal formulation an sich that needs to be revised.

Abstract

This article explores the power of culture as an effort to promote a harmonious, tolerant and peaceful life between Muslims and Catholics. Likang telu is a cultural concept of the people of West Flores which is the basis for Muslims and Catholics to live in harmony, tolerance and peace. This study was conducted in Manggarai, West Flores, East Nusa Tenggara Province. The work aims to explore four elements including, 1) the differences in Muslim-Catholic relations after and before the reform era; 2) the extent to which the likang telu concept affects Muslim-Catholic relations in Manggarai; 3) the reasons for the likang telu concept being ignored by the Manggarai people and 4) the implications of the fading likang telu concept in Muslim-Catholic relations in Manggarai. The sugests that before the reform era, the Muslim and Catholic communities could live side by side in harmony and peace, while after the reform, the situation changed and conflicts were inevitable. It is apparently due to fading local wisdom, namely the likang telu concept of the Manggarai people which has 3 pillars: ase-kae (brother and sister), hae beo (fellow residents), and anak wina-anak rona (husband-giver and wife-giver). The trigger factors are the emergence of religious organizations both in the Catholic Church and in Islam; preferences of people’s knowledge sources that rely on the social media; and the unresolved trauma of the Muslim-Catholic relations in the past. The disregard for local wisdom has negative implications for Muslim-Catholic relations in Manggarai. This study recommends that all elements of the Manggarai community should revive and socialize likang telu as a local cultural treasure that had been proven in the past to be able to build a bridge of interfaith relations among different Manggarai communities.

Abstract

One of Muslim figure, Munawir Sjadzali in many of his writings talked about Islam and state administration. This paper explains Sjadzali’s views on Islam and political/state administration historically and their relevance to the NKRI which is based on Pancasila, not based on a particular religion, not a secular state nor but a religious state. Academically, Sjadzali based on the condition of the internal Muslim factions: there was a traditionalistic-integralistic group, there was also a secularistic?partialist group. An exploration history of Sjadzali’s shows that tensions and differences of opinion about Islam and politics among Muslim communities have taken place since the time of the death of the Prophet Muhammad and continues to nowdays. Sjadzali in this paper ignores two extremes and follows one golden mit which is called a symbiotic view, towards Neo-modernism Islam. According to Sjadzali, Islam has a set of principles and ethical values for community and state life as can be found in the Quran, but still has flexibility in its implementation with due regard to the situation of the times and culture. The political system/state administration Islamic when compared to Pancasila, actually there are similarities in principles and enthusiasm.

Abstract

Indonesia may be called a multi-religious country. Nevertheless, the State of Indonesia is not a State which makes religion its basis. The basis of the State of Indonesia is Pancasila and the issue of religion is placed as the number one issue in the order of Pancasila. With the above statement, it clearly affirms that the State of Indonesia is not at once a secular state or a State of religion. Likewise in all aspects of his life including family. But there is no denying the fact that the State and on the micro scale, the family has been much influenced by the flow of secularization. Today, there is also an economic awareness of the people of ASEAN region and finally forming a container called MEA (ASEAN Economic Community). This stream will in turn overwhelm the Catholic family and even urge the family to take part in the MEA flows. This context can shake the family order, including the Catholic family. Therefore, Catholic families must continue to be empowered through the radiance of the Eucharistic meaning. The family should always be reminded that the Eucharist is the culmination and source of the Christian faith. Catholic families must remain Eucharistic families

Abstract

The word disruption is increasingly familiar to the ears of these millennial and tencenial, although Clay Christensen has published the disruption theory since 1997. The background of its emergence is the changing world situation and disturbing the life order of society. Disruption theory was born amid the frenetic changes due to the technological revolution, especially the internet. The Internet affects the dynamics of human life in almost every aspect: education, economics, commerce, social, political, cultural and religious. In the field of education found the pattern and system of education is constantly changing; in the field of economy and trade found the mechanisms of market and trade economies that differ greatly from the period before millennial and tensenial. In the field of religion, a change in the way of view of religion through subjective interpretations to interfere with the understanding of the average person about the substance of religion itself. In this changing society situation, all elements of society can challenge it but can not defeat it. In the Catholic Church, for the sake of the development of the Church, in addition to pastors, laymen are required to have certain characters such as reformers, literate technology literacy, creative, innovative and critish and inclusive.

Abstract

The text of the Scriptures is basically neutral but also dynamic. Scripture text can change in a dynamic line when entering the life space (context) of each owner of the text. The text makes a person more alive because of the text and context involved in the dialectics of human life both as individualy and society. Mohammed Arkoun contributed some of his critical thoughts about the interpretation of the text in dialectical conditions of text and context. Arkoun’s ideas belong to a revolutionary epistemological idea. On the one hand, Arkoun believes in God’s messages as the only source of truth, and singularly, on the other hand Arkoun sues the truth when ithas beenat human hands. For Arkoun, the text must always be adapted to the context. Text always has space and time. Therefore, the matter of claiming exclusive truth in each religion should not provoke the conflict. Arkouns’s idea could be an inspiration in improving dialogue interreligious in Indonesia.

Abstract

Reading the socio-historical phenomenon of moral monism in Manggarai, must be started from the expansion of Islamization and Christianization. Islamization and Christianization had an effect on the growth of Islamism and Catholicism. The main character of Islamization and Catholicism is the claim of the exclusive truth. Each of them claimed that their religion only is the most true and logic, therefore it must be adhered, then the other one is wrong and ilogic, therefore it must be left. This preaching reinforced the concept of moral monism to each individual. In this paper, the author found that the history of Islamization and Christianization in Manggarai had formed the monism moral in religious life, however, moral monism in Islamism is different from moral monism in Catholicism. The phenomenon of moral monism in religious teaching can disrupt Muslim and Catholic relations, including the Manggaraian. Prevention efforts must be made by various social elements such as the local government, the religious teachers, and Moslim-Catholic community in Manggarai. The response of the great Catholic and Moslem figures: Pope Francis and Grand Shaykh Ahmad Thayyip in the UAE, that is included, Abu Dhabi Document would be implemented in religious life.

Abstract

Religious moderation has become a trending issue in Indonesia in thelast five years. This paper attempts to answer two important questions:first, what is the basic teologic for doing religious moderation Muslimsand Catholics in Indonesia; and second, how Young Yun Kim’s theoryof cross-cultural adaptation inspires Muslims and Catholics inimplementing religious moderation in Indonesia. With literature studiesfound; first, the Quran and the Bible are authentic sources in efforts tomoderate religion in Indonesia. Second, Muslims and Catholics are tworeligions that are close to culture, therefore the theory of cross-culturaladaptation becomes an inherent part of the existence of Muslims andCatholics in facing the local tradition. The Catholic Church traditionuses the term inculturation, while the Muslim tradition calls it,culturalization. However, religious moderation is not synonymous withinculturation and culturalization. Inculturation and culturalizationare models of cross-cultural adaptation to the paradigm of religiousmoderation. Here religion and local traditions are interconnected butalso intercorroborated.

Abstract

The Process of globalization has been invading almost all aspect of human life which force ordinary Indonesian people to come to terms with this global movement. The notion of diversity is very strong among Indonesiansand eventually considered as an internal power to deal with the diversifed society. Hoever, not every Indonesian seems to grasp and live this variety or the dynamic of differences as a blessing. This article is showing us the necessity of an inculturation and that Inculturation or contextualization is deeper than adaptation. The author has smartly taken into account the importance of a fundamental rite by the Manggaraians and have it met vigorously with the catholicreligion. The authoris notabsentto putthe analogicalimagination in the whole procedure of this encounter. The author even promotes tha multicultural education as desperatelyneeded. Meanwhile, the implementation of this kind of education needs cooperation between all elements in Manggarai. The process of Inculturation of course needs a local base as “locus theologicus".

Abstract

Enterpreneurship is well kown all over the world only because it reflects perfectly an autonomy and freedom of man. Enterpreneurhip has been socially defined as way of self-responsibility and theologically is defined as an expression of a human self-trencendence, and psychologically is realized as way of being smart in relation to the others very much linked to the basic human rights. The article is a lengthydiscource about man's creativity to deal with social and psychological, ecological, and political environment as part of being faithfull to God's mandate about their being in the world. There are five theological reflections about ENTREPRENEURSHIP:Enterpreneurship is a way of participating in God's work of creation; -Enterpreneurship is an expression of man's responsibility to the world according to God's mandate;-Enterpreneurhip is an expression of man's faith to God's presence; Enterpreneurship creates people around the world as “men of God", - Enterpreneurship is surely a divine vocation as "homo faber".
