Abstract

AbstrakBuku ini menelaah politik penggunaan bahasa dari beragam aspek. Bahasa tidak hanya digunakan sebagai media komunikasi tetapi lebih dari itu, bahasa dapat menjadi alat yang digunakan untuk memperoleh kekuasaan. Bahasa beroperasi sebagai piranti kekuasaan dan berhasil dimanfaatkan secara optimal oleh mereka yang memiliki niat berkuasa. Bahasa dapat digunakan untuk praktik dominasi, alat pergerakan, melanggengkan kekuasaan, mendulang suara dan memenangkan pemilihan, sampai meraih keuntungan materil.Kata kunci: bahasa, politik, kekuasaan, Indonesia

Abstract

Para guru menjadi aktor yang sangat krusial dalam menjamin pembelajaran tetap berlangsung di masa pandemi. Guru mengubah pola adaptasi, komunikasi, dan strategi dalam mendidik anak di masa pandemi. Guru melakukan berbagai transformasi agar anak-anak tetap memperolah hak di bidang pendidikan. Artikel ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan mewawancarai guru via media komunikasi maupun tatap muka di wilayah Jakarta Selatan, Kabupaten Bogor, Kota Depok, Kabupaten Bekasi, Kota Tangerang, dan Kabupaten Pandeglang. Selain itu penelusuran pustaka dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan hasil kajian sebelumnya, artikel media cetak maupun daring, maupun berbagai kebijakan yang dirilis oleh Kementerian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (Kemdikbud). Ada tiga hal yang hendak dipaparkan pada artikel ini. Pertama, adaptasi guru di masa pandemi sangat bergantung pada komitmen, dukungan lingkungan dan kapital yang dimiliki guru. Kedua, komunikasi dan dialog antara guru dan orangtua sangat penting dilakukan. Ketiga, pandemi membuat transformasi guru menjadi lebih cepat karena dituntut oleh kebutuhan memenuhi hak anak.

Abstract

The information and communication technology (ICT) industrial sector requires two preconditions for its workers: higher education and skills appropriate to the areas of expertise. The problem is, a high educational background owned does not necessarily correlate with the level of well-being, particularly for outsourcing and contract workers. Therefore, this paper examines the welfare of the workers on three aspects, (i) socio-economic conditions, (ii) the rights acquired, and (iii) social security. To get the portrait of welfare and fulfillment strategy for contract workers and outsourcing of ICT workers in Jakarta, in-depth interviews were conducted to ten workers, consisting of eight men and two women with the age range between twenty-three to forty years old. This paper describes the condition of contract and outsourcing workers in the ICT sector who held higher education degree that still have inadequate bargaining power and must work hard to sustain their livelihood. This condition causes them to devise strategies such as saving, selection of a place to stay, look for overtime, look for additional work, and try to live a healthy life. Given these findings, the government should actively collaborate with universities and industries so that workers who entered the industry have a better bargaining position.Sektor industri teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (TIK) mensyaratkan dua prasyarat bagi pekerjanya, yaitu: jenjang pendidikan tinggi dan keterampilan sesuai bidang keahlian. Permasalahannya, latar pendidikan tinggi yang dimiliki tidak selalu berkorelasi dengan tingkat kesejahteraan, utamanya bagi pekerja kontrak dan outsourcing (alih daya). Oleh karena itu, tulisan ini menelaah kesejahteraan pekerja dari tiga aspek: (i) kondisi sosial ekonomi, (ii) hak yang diperoleh, dan (iii) jaminan sosial. Untuk mendapat potret kesejahteraan dan strategi pemenuhan kebutuhan hidup pekerja kontrak dan alih daya bidang TIK di DKI Jakarta, dilakukan wawancara mendalam kepada sepuluh pekerja, terdiri dari delapan orang laki-laki dan dua orang perempuan dengan rentang usia dua puluh tiga tahun sampai empat puluh tahun. Tulisan ini menjelaskan kondisi pekerja kontrak dan alih daya di sektor TIK yang meskipun memiliki pendidikan tinggi tetapi tidak memiliki posisi tawar memadai. Seperti halnya pekerja sektor lain, mereka pun harus bekerja keras dalam memenuhi kebutuhan. Kondisi tersebut menyebabkan mereka harus berstrategi mulai dari berhemat, menabung, pemilihan tempat tinggal, mencari lemburan, mencari tambahan pekerjaan, dan berusaha hidup sehat. Merujuk pada temuan tersebut, pemerintah harus secara aktif berkolaborasi dengan perguruan tinggi dan industri agar pekerja yang masuk ke dunia industri memiliki posisi tawar yang lebih baik.

Abstract

The situation at the beginning of the pandemic changed various patterns of education in schools that had been considered normal and moved to homes. During the beginning of the pandemic, when schools were closed, learning had to move home and parents had to provide extra assistance to accompany their children's education at home. This article explores the challenges, adaptations, and strategies of parents in urban areas in assisting children in learning at the beginning of the pandemic. Interviews were conducted with the parents of workers in urban areas to get an adequate perspective on changing education patterns during the pandemic. The results of this study increasingly show the important role of parents in the education process of their children during the pandemic. The ability of parents to face challenges during the pandemic, adapt, and strategy is highly dependent on the resources they have, ranging from academic qualifications, flexibility in working time, the ability to dialogue with children, and build communication with the school. Each parent's technical and substance abilities play a very important role in helping children through the educational process during the pandemic.Abstrak:Situasi awal pandemi mengubah berbagai pola pendidikan yang selama ini dianggap lazim, yaitu dilakukan di lingkungan persekolahan. Selama awal pandemi, sekolah-sekolah ditutup. Pembelajaran di sekolah berpindah ke rumah sehingga orangtua harus ekstra dalam mendampingi pendidikan anak-anak di rumah. Artikel ini mengetengahkan tantangan, adaptasi, dan strategi orangtua di wilayah perkotaan dalam mendampingi anak-anak belajar di awal pandemi. Wawancara dilakukan kepada orangtua pekerja di wilayah perkotaan untuk mendapatkan perspektif memadai mengenai perubahan pola pendidikan di masa pandemi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peran orangtua semakin penting dalam proses pendidikan anak- anak. Kemampuan orangtua menghadapi tantangan di masa pandemi, melakukan adaptasi, dan strategi sangat bergantung pada sumber daya yang dimiliki mulai dari kualifikasi akademik, fleksibilitas waktu kerja, kemampuan berdialog dengan anak, dan membangun komunikasi dengan pihak sekolah. Kemampuan teknikal dan substansi orangtua sangat berperan dalam membantu anak melalui proses pendidikan di masa pandemi. Komisi X DPR RI melalui fungsi pengawasan perlu memantau, mengawasi, dan memberi dukungan terhadap kebijakan pemerintah berkaitan dengan pendidikan serta memastikan tidak ada kebijakan pendidikan yang memarjinalkan anak-anak dengan kerentanan berlapis akibat pandemi Covid-19.

Abstract

Previous research has identified various challenges in the implementation of the Platform Merdeka Mengajar (PMM) among teachers, including limited internet access and technological devices, teachers' proficiency in using technology, limited understanding of PMM, and an increased digital workload that occupies teachers' time. This article aims to: (1) analyze the increase in teachers' digital workload due to extensive digitalization through PMM; (2) identify communication and instructional patterns in PMM implementation; and (3) examine how teachers utilize PMM to provide more effective and humane recommendations for improvement. A survey was conducted using a questionnaire distributed via Google Forms to 211 teachers across 27 provinces in Indonesia. The article highlights three key findings: First, digitalization through the Platform Merdeka Mengajar (PMM) significantly increases teachers' workload. A total of 55.9% of teachers reported teaching 24–30 hours per week, 19% taught 30–40 hours, and 4.3% taught 40–50 hours. Additionally, 79.1% of respondents indicated that PMM increased their administrative burden. Second, communication and instructions related to PMM were found to be hierarchical and lacked dialogue, with 70.1% of teachers using PMM due to direct instructions from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) or school management. Third, the digital workload forced 51% of teachers to complete PMM tasks outside of school hours, including 22.3% working at home and 14.7% working late at night. Moreover, a significant portion of teachers relied on personal resources, with 71.1% using their own internet and 67.3% covering electricity costs to fulfill PMM requirements. This article recommends that the government consider teachers' rights and working hours when implementing PMM.AbstrakRiset terdahulu memaparkan berbagai tantangan dalam operasionalisasi Platform Merdeka Mengajar (PMM) di kalangan guru: keterbatasan akses internet dan perangkat teknologi, kapabilitas guru dalam penguasaan teknologi, pemahaman terbatas mengenai PMM, serta meningkatnya beban digital yang menyita waktu guru. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk: pertama, menganalisis peningkatan beban digital guru akibat masifnya digitalisasi melalui PMM; kedua, mengidentifikasi pola komunikasi dan instruksi dalam pengerjaan PMM; serta ketiga, meninjau ulang mekanisme pemanfaatan PMM oleh guru untuk memberikan rekomendasi perbaikan yang lebih efektif dan manusiawi. Survei dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner yang disebarkan melalui Google Form kepada 211 guru di 27 provinsi di Indonesia. Tiga temuan utama artikel ini adalah: pertama, digitalisasi melalui PMM secara signifikan meningkatkan beban kerja guru. Sebanyak 55,9% guru mengajar 24-30 jam per minggu, 19% mengajar 30-40 jam, dan 4,3% mengajar 40–50 jam. Sebagian besar responden (79,1%) melaporkan bahwa PMM menambah beban administrasi mereka. Kedua, pola komunikasi dan instruksi terkait PMM bersifat hierarkis dan kurang dialogis, dengan 70,1% guru menggunakan PMM karena tekanan instruksi langsung dari Kemendikbudristek atau pihak sekolah. Ketiga, beban kerja digital memaksa 51% guru mengerjakan tugas PMM di luar jam sekolah dan mengerjakan di rumah (22,3%), sering hingga larut malam (14,7%), dan  sebagian besar menggunakan biaya pribadi untuk internet (71,1%) dan listrik (67,3%). Artikel ini menyarankan DPR RI mendorong pemerintah untuk mempertimbangkan hak dan jam kerja guru dalam implementasi PMM.

Singapore: ISEAS Yusuf Ishak Institute.After the New Order, religious movements become increasingly popular both offline and online. The internet has become a medium for disseminating ideas and practices of religious patterns that are different from traditional religious authorities. On the other hand, there are increasing opportunities for transnational religious movements seeking to build their influence in Indonesia. Another interesting phenomenon is the presence of New Santri coming to color the world of da’wah in Indonesia through new media. Through this book, the authors try to explain the phenomena that are happening in the struggles for religious authority in Indonesia. This book describes at least three factors that significantly influence recent religious competitions, namely: globalization, post-Reformation democratization (after 1998), and the growth of various private television channels and social media users. These three factors have a strong impact in shaping and internalizing the construction, contestation, fragmentation, and pluralization of contemporary Indonesian religious authorities.

Abstract

Amid increasing economic prospects and government support for oil palm plantations, oil palm plantations still have many social problems. The emergence of child labor in small-scale oil palm plantations (smallholders) is a fact. This article analyzes the dilemma related to the child laborers’ choice of working or continuing education in small-scale oil palm plantations in Seberu Village, Silat Hilir District, Kapuas Hulu District, West Kalimantan Province. We use an ethnographic approach to describe activities, behaviors, actions, conversations, and interpersonal interactions within social communities and small-scale farming family units. We found three main reasons why children consider education irrelevant to their daily needs and choose to work on small-scale oil palm plantations. The first factor is access, which is related to the distance to schools and inadequate road infrastructure. The second factor is the need for more imagination about the importance of going to school for the future. The third factor is lifestyle fulfillment rather than family economic difficulties.

Abstract

Dialogue is an important part of strengthening democratization. However, dialogue has not been fully practiced and prioritized in schools. Schools become important institutions to promote tolerance and dialogue from various traditions or cultural backgrounds. Strengthening dialogue is an important part of the humanist education approach. This research discussed how Kolese Gonzaga High School established a learning system that provides a large space for dialogue. In each activity, the school tries to develop communication skills, learn to understand each other, and also collaborate with various communities. This research focused on two things: (i) the practice of establishing school as a space for dialogue, and (ii) how school can promote dialogue for peace. This research was qualitative research with a case study approach. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Meanwhile, the data collection techniques used are in-depth interviews, observation, and literature study. Interviews were conducted with school principals, teachers, students, and parents. Dialogue activities are strengthened in various activities at school. Kolese Gonzaga High School establishes dialogue spaces in various fields in the school such as in classrooms, daily activities, and activities outside of school.
