Abstract

Degradation of morals or moral decadence has attacked young generations, especially college students. Therefore, this paper aims to find out forms of moral decadence found in college students. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach, the data were collected through direct interviews with ten informants (college students) by using the purposive sampling technique. To strengthen interview data, the writer performed passive participation observation by coming directly to the observed location. All results of the interview were analyzed using Milles and Hauberman’s pattern. The research found nine forms of moral decadence in college students. They are: i) negligent in worship, ii)sexual promiscuity,  iii) involved in drug abuse, iv) hedonism, v) revealing awrah, vi) lack of ethics,  vii) impolite speaking, viii) dishonest in academics and ix) lack of time management.  The results of this research can be used as initial data for future research investigating similar problems in different contexts and issues.

Abstract

Memorizing the Qur’an is one of the important efforts in the life of a Muslim. To create a generation that has a strong relationship with the Book of Allah, it is important for children to start memorizing the Qur’an from an early age. However, the process of memorizing the Qur’an is not easy, especially for children who are still at their stage of physical and cognitive development. the importance of motivation to start memorizing the Qur’an. This study aims to analyze children's motivation in memorizing the Qur’an. This study used a qualitative method with a case study approach, research data were taken through direct interviews with six informants. All interview and observation data were then analyzed thematically using Miles and Huberman patterns. Overall the results of the analysis show that there are four children's motivations in memorizing the Qur’an at the Rumah Tahfiz. The four motivations are i) encouragement from parents, ii) self-desire, iii) interested in memorizing the Qur'an, and iv) enjoying memorizing the Qur’an. The results of this study can be used as initial data for future researchers in examining different issues related to this problem and various other issues that are relevant to this context.

Abstract

Amal Saleh Foundation is a religious organization managed by students. Students are the future successors of a nation. Students are a benchmark for the sustainability and goodness of a country, the birth of YAS has an important role in shaping the character of students at public colleges, Padang State University, therefore this study aims to explore activities at the Amal Saleh Foundation in Shaping Student Character. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach (case study design). Data sources were taken from twenty informants through in-depth interviews. The informant is an active student of the General College of Padang State University and is also a Santri of the Amal Saleh Foundation. Data collection techniques used are interviews, observation and documentation studies. All interview results were then analyzed Thematically using the Nvivo12 qualitative analysis software. Overall the results of the analysis show that there are four activities at the Amal Saleh Foundation in Shaping Student Character, namely: i) Ta'lim, ii) Tahsin, iii) Sunday morning lectures and iv) Safari Ramadhan. The results of this study have also proven that Amal Saleh Foundation is successful and has an important role in producing students with character.
