Abstract

PT. XYZ is a manufacturing company that produces the constituent components of HDD (Hard Disk Drive) products. One of the products produced by PT. XYZ made from rubber. The product has a strict specification, both for the accuracy of size and for display. One of the problems faced by PT. XYZ is the output of a 100% unstable check section even though the amount of human resources used is the same every day. There is a variation of the output / clock / operator from 650 to 714.4 pieces. This study aims to analyze the cause of the variation of output / hour / operator and to find solutions to minimize the output variation. The result of this research can be concluded that the cause of variation of output / hour / operator is the number of product type checked by operator not always the same every day. Where more and more types of products are checked then the smaller the output on that day. To get maximum results then the operator only do one type of product every day. If not possible then cultivated to a minimum operator change the type of product checked. It requires expertise from the supervisor to manage the work of the operator in an effort to get the maximum output.

Abstract

Abstract

Research on the topic of lean Manufacturing (LM) has a good trend at the international level. Bibliometric analysis with VOSviewer has been widely applied by researchers to see research trends in a topic, quantitatively assess the current status and quickly identify future research directions based on unique publication parameters. Bibliometric analysis was conducted on 548 articles from ScienceDirect for the topic of LM in the period 2014 to 4 June 2023. From 29 journals it detected the names of journals that frequently published and names of journals that provided opportunities for authors to submit articles. Detected 1449 authors, 591 were the main authors and 858 were co-authors. The majority of the top-30 productive researchers are co-authors. Detected 53 names of countries of the main author, 8 countries that occupy the top-10 are developed countries and only 2 countries are developing countries. In writing articles, the author has a majority team of 2-4 people in one team. Based on the results of the VOSviewer mapping, there is a novelty in research for the keywords additive manufacturing and OEE. Recommendations for further research are that LM research carries manufacturing, focusing on engine performance using OEE indicators and the industry 4.0 approach.

Abstract

The research aims to analyze the effect of the primary pulley slope angle on engine torque and fuel consumption of the Mio Sporty 115 CC motorbike. The inclination angle of the primary pulley based on factory standards is 14º. Changing the slope angle of the primary pulley using a lathe for angles of 12º, 13º and 13.5º. Testing was carried out using a dyno test machine, 3 data for each slope angle. The dyno test results consist of engine speed, torque, and power. Fuel consumption is obtained using calculations based on test data. Based on the analysis of test results and calculations, it is known that the slope angle of the primary pulley affects engine torque and fuel consumption of the Mio Sporty 115 CC motorbike. The 14º slope angle produces 6.35 torque, the 13.5º slope angle produces 6.47, the 13º slope angle produces 6.29 and the 12º slope angle produces 6.02. Meanwhile, for fuel consumption, slope angle 12º and 14º require fuel consumption of 0.19 l/hour, slope angle 13º & 13.5º require fuel consumption of 0.18 l/hour. Based on the highest torque and the lowest fuel consumption results, a slope angle of 13.5º is recommended.

Abstract

Despite the widespread adoption of Lean Manufacturing (LM), its effectiveness in the food industry remains underexplored, particularly regarding the integration of the Quality System (QS). The purpose of this research is to compare QS placement and LM implementation strategies in the food industry. This study utilized a comparative approach, analyzing empirical data from four food processing companies in Indonesia over six months, employing qualitative methods (expert interviews, document analysis) and quantitative analysis. Response Surface Methodology (RSM) with the Box-Behnken design was applied for optimization, while Principal Component Analysis (PCA) identified key variables influencing Lean Manufacturing success. Two implementation strategies were compared: phased implementation with a separate Quality System (Companies A and B) and simultaneous implementation with an integrated Quality System (Companies C and D). The findings revealed that Company A achieved the highest performance, with 88% in 5S and 85% in Just-In-Time (JIT), followed by Company B with 80% in JIT and 75% in 5S. In contrast, companies C and D exhibited lower performance. PCA results indicated that PC1 (80.40%) was associated with on-time delivery and sales growth, whereas PC2 (14.47%) was linked to rejection factors. Companies A and B excelled in PC1, while Companies C and D were more dominant in PC2. These findings suggest that phased implementation of LM tools is more effective than simultaneous application. This research not only addresses a critical gap in the literature but also provides practical insights for food industry practitioners seeking to enhance operational efficiency through Lean Manufacturing.
