Abstract

 Textbook is one of the material references of the English teaching at school. It is used to run English learning process. A book plays an important role in modern life. It functions to get information and knowledge. A teacher cannot deliver any instructional objectives to the students without using media in teaching and learning process. So, textbook is the main source of instructional materials. Based on the result of investigation that researcher has done, all of the writing texts especially descriptive texts in “Look Ahead an English Course X” were coherent, because the level of coherence in that text was in good and fair level, and the highest percentage level of coherence was 80%. The texts that have been analyzed from the textbook “Look Ahead An English Course X” were in good textbook because the highest total of percentage level of coherence was in good and fair level because a paragraph will be coherent or good if the type of thematic progression is constant in one type and inconstant or change from one type to others type of each paragraph, and most of thematic progression was used in the descriptive texts. Abstract

This study investigates the use of poetry in teaching pronunciation. The method used in this study was quantitative and qualitative descriptive study. The population of this study was all of the second grade students of MA Tahzibul Akhlak Sisik In Academic Year 2014/2015. The sample of this study was 40 students. The technique that was used to collect the data was test. The data that are needed in this study is the result of post-test. Based on the data gained for experimental group in gained the lowest and the highest score 32 and 88. For the control group gained the lowest and highest score 20 and 66. The result of data analysis is indicated that the figure of the means score was 47,1 for experimental group and 35,9 for control group. The deviation scores for experimental group was 156,89 and control group was 197,39. It’s means that after treatment by using poetry there was a positively significant in teaching pronunciation

Abstract

This research is aimed at finding out the improving students’ ability in reading texts by using short story at the eight grade students of MTs. AL-Madani Pelulan The kind of the research is an experimental research. The population of this research is 54 students of the eight grade students of MTs. AL-Madani Pelulan in which all of it as sample and divided into two groups that are XIIIA as experimental group and XIIIB as control group. The experimental group is taught by using short story as instrument and the control group is taught without short story or based on real object. The techniques of collecting data use multiple choise. The data collected were analyzed statistically by using t-test formula. The result of statistical analysis of t-test it was 3,13 which was higher than the critical value of t-table, it was 2,006 (0.05) and 1,675 (0.01). It means that t-test is higher than t-table in 0.05% of significance level and 52 of degree of freedom. Thus, it can concluded that the use of short story as media to improve students’ ability in reading text is enough interesting to apply in teaching reading texts. It means the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the following objectives: 1) To find out the form of traditional clothing and behavior in the Nyongkolan culture in Keruak District, 2) To find out the Islamic view of traditional clothing and behavior in the Nyongkolan culture in Keruak District. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research, namely research that seeks to describe, record, analyze and interpret the conditions that currently occur or exist. The results of the study can be concluded that from the point of view of Islamic law the implementation of the nyongkolan culture is permissible, because nyongkolan is a form of implementation of the Prophet's hadith to announce marriage, where the marriage must be accompanied by music and singing. However, in the implementation of nyongkolan, there is another tradition in it, namely in terms of dress procedures which tend to be open and that violates the Shari'a theorems of syara'. Meanwhile, in terms of behavior, for example ngibing (dancing excessively) and drinking alcohol, it is destructive and cannot be made into a good tradition that cannot be accepted by religion. Because in the Qur'an it has been explained how to dress and behave in accordance with Islamic law. So the form of clothing used in the traditional nyongkolan procession must be in accordance with Islamic law, which is closed, especially for women who are required to cover their genitals from head to toe (entire body) except for the face and palms, by combining traditional clothing with cufflinks and hijab. And for men, they are required to cover their genitals from the navel to their knees, by wearing appropriate or appropriate traditional clothes as long as their genitals are covered. Meanwhile, in terms of behavior, it must also be in accordance with Islamic law, namely by following the good example of the great prophet Muhammad SAW, and always behaving well, appropriately, and not excessively.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the influence of administering an oral test before learning on the achievement of English language learning outcomes among students at STIT Palapa Nusantara Lombok. In the teaching and learning process, administering an oral test before learning can have benefits such as enhancing learning motivation, stimulating mental preparation, and identifying students' learning deficiencies and needs. The method used in this research is an experimental method with a Posttest-Only Control Design. The study was conducted on students of the Islamic Education Study Program in the even semester of the academic year 2022/2023 at STIT Palapa Nusantara Lombok. The experimental group received treatment in the form of an English oral test before learning, while the control group did not receive this treatment. Data were obtained through the oral test before learning and the learning outcome test (final test) given to both groups. Data analysis was performed using instrument validity and reliability tests, descriptive statistics, normality test, homogeneity test, and mean difference test. The data description results showed different average values between the experimental group and the control group. The statistical analysis showed that administering an oral test before learning has a significant influence on the achievement of English language learning outcomes among students at STIT Palapa Nusantara Lombok. This research is expected to provide a better understanding of the influence of administering an oral test before learning on the achievement of English language learning outcomes among students. The results of this research can serve as a reference in the development of effective English language learning strategies at STIT Palapa Nusantara Lombok and other higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study investigates the individual and combined effects of reading interest and vocabulary mastery on students' ability to read Islamic texts in the English for Islamic Studies course. A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving 26 third-semester students from the Islamic Education Program at STIT Palapa Nusantara, selected through purposive sampling. Data were gathered using structured questionnaires assessing reading interest, vocabulary mastery, and Islamic text reading ability, and were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression via SPSS. The results revealed a significant positive correlation between reading interest and Islamic text reading ability (r = 0.574, p < 0.01), with an even stronger correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading ability (r = 0.639, p < 0.01). Descriptive statistics indicated high mean scores across variables, with reading ability (M = 83.7) ranking highest, followed by vocabulary mastery (M = 81.5) and reading interest (M = 78.3). Key performance indicators included interpreting Qur'anic texts (M = 84.2), summarizing Islamic readings (M = 83.1), and understanding basic Islamic concepts (M = 81.6). Multiple regression analysis confirmed that both reading interest (β = 0.401) and vocabulary mastery (β = 0.489) significantly predicted reading ability (p < 0.01), collectively accounting for 53.2% of the variance (R² = 0.532). The findings suggest that enhancing students’ vocabulary and fostering reading interest are effective strategies to improve their comprehension of Islamic texts in English.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Majelis Ta’lim Al-Muttaqun in enhancing the community’s religious understanding, particularly in the aspect of fiqih ibadah in Bungtiang Village, Sakra Barat District. The main focus is to analyze the contribution of the majelis ta’lim to improving the community’s understanding of daily worship practices and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in the learning process. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and documentation. The research informants consist of religious leaders, majelis ta’lim participants, community leaders, and academics relevant to the study of fiqih ibadah. The findings indicate that Majelis Ta’lim Al-Muttaqun plays a significant role as an effective medium for religious learning by delivering fiqih ibadah materials that are adapted to the community’s level of understanding. Supporting factors include the active involvement of preachers, the availability of relevant teaching materials, and the high level of religious enthusiasm among community members, while inhibiting factors comprise participants’ limited time, a lack of variety in teaching methods, and low religious literacy among some segments of the community. The study concludes that the presence of the majelis ta’lim provides a positive contribution to enhancing understanding of fiqih ibadah; however, optimization of learning strategies and strengthened institutional support remain necessary to broaden its impact on the development of the community’s religious understanding.
