Abstract

Contrastive analysis as a synchronic method in language analysis used in this study to show similarities and differences between languages or dialects in order to solve practical problems related to languages, such as language teaching and translation. Every language has its own rules, which is unique as well as common features. A language shares some the same rules to some extent which benefit English learners to better understand the rules of the target language by knowing the similarities between the language and their target language. This research deals with the descriptions and analyses on Subject-Predicate systems of English and Acehnese languages which shows several similarities and differences. The similar structure found in both language is subject and verb in both languages need an agreement depending on the subject of the sentence.  While the differences can be seen in the position of enclitic of both languages. In Acehnese, the clitics position be found within a verb or a noun. While in English, it appears only within a verb. The example sentences of the two languages have been compared with sufficient examples, making it clear where and how they are identical and different.

Abstract

Depresi merupakan masalah yang muncul karena adanya ketidakseimbangan antara tuntutan dan kemampuan sehingga terjadi gangguan baik Rohani maupun jasmani. Seorang yang mengalami depresi akan mengalami perasaan sedih yang berkepanjangan, sehingga muncul gejala emosional yang tidak stabil, rasa putus asa dan kehilangan minat dalam beraktivitas. Seni merupakan salah satu media terapi yang banyak digunakan dalam menjaga mental seseorang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektifitas tari kreasi Aceh sebagai media terapi yang dapat dilihat dari angka penurunan skor depresi pasien gangguan jiwa di IPWL Yayasan Kayyis Ahsana Aceh pasca terapi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Adapun subjek penelitian yakni pada pasien rawat jalan yang mengalami depresi. Penilaian masing-masing pasien rawat jalan memiliki Skor depresi yang berbeda, dimulai dari gejala depresi, depresi ringan, depresi sedang dan depresi berat. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah pasien depresi di IPWL Yayasan Kayyis Ahsana Aceh yang dipilih menggunakan teknik Cluster Random Sampling dengan gerak tari kreasi Aceh sebagai instrumen. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen pendukung seperti observasi dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa efektifitas tari Kreasi Aceh beserta musik iringan sebagai media terapi terhadap pasien gangguan jiwa mampu melepaskan stress dan menghadirkan kebahagiaan dengan aktivitas gerakan fisik yang dilakukan. Hal-hal yang didapatkan pasien diantaranya relaksasi dan pengurangan stress, ekspresi emosi, penyembuhan diri, keterlibatan sosial pembelajaran dan pertumbuhan pasien.

Abstract

This article presents a theoretical analysis of Generative Grammar and its relevance in contemporary linguistics. The discussion begins with an overview of the origins of Generative Grammar, particularly the contributions of Noam Chomsky, who introduced the idea that language is a mental capacity governed by an internal system of rules known as Universal Grammar. Utilizing a qualitative analytical method, the article synthesizes and compares primary theoretical contributions and critiques from various linguistic schools to assess the current status and applicability of Generative Grammar. The analysis reveals that Generative Grammar continues to play an important role in linguistic theory, especially in understanding syntactic phenomena and language acquisition.

Abstract

The ASEAN Summit has become an interesting momentum and is in the spotlight because the views and attitudes of Southeast Asian leaders will be greatly reflected in the event. The 42nd ASEAN Summit is an attractive momentum considering Indonesia's status as the current Chairman of ASEAN, that this activity was also carried out in post-COVID-19 Pandemic conditions and Timor-Leste's first involvement as a candidate for a new ASEAN member. Focusing on the welcoming speech by President Joko Widodo at the Summit, this study uses a descriptive qualitative method using the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) model developed by Norman Fairclough. This study conducts discourse analysis using three dimensions: text, discursive, and sociocultural analysis. The results of the analysis show that textually the speech delivered by President Joko Widodo uses the words 'I' and 'ASEAN' repeatedly. The term 'I' is generally in the function of hosting activities, and 'ASEAN' indicates a collective effort. Modality in the speech is also used to reinforce the vision of ASEAN. The socio-cultural analysis shows that the speech delivered by President Joko Widodo has characteristics to emphasize the current condition in the form of internal and external challenges. On the other hand, ideologically, President Joko Widodo stresses the message of exploring the potential in accordance with ASEAN's vision.

Abstract

Background: The use of the Acehnese language among young generations has significantly declined in recent years, particularly at the primary school level. One of the main contributing factors is the lack of engaging, interactive, and contextually relevant learning resources for teaching the Acehnese language. Purpose: This study aims to design and develop a web-based illustrated Acehnese–Indonesian dictionary as an innovative learning resource to support Acehnese language learning in primary schools. The dictionary is designed to be child-friendly, culturally contextual, and accessible through various digital devices, and is expected to address the scarcity of Acehnese language learning media that teachers have long faced. Method: This research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D model (define, design, development, disseminate). Data were collected through observations, interviews, and questionnaires involving 6 primary school teachers, 3 Acehnese language experts, 3 information technology experts, and 30 students as end users. The data were analysed using qualitative descriptive methods to examine the content and technical feasibility, and quantitative descriptive methods to assess user responses towards the developed dictionary prototype. Results and Discussion: The results indicate that the web-based illustrated Acehnese-Indonesian dictionary is feasible for use as a learning medium for the Acehnese language in primary schools. Validation by language experts received an average score of 89%, IT experts 83%, limited trials with students 92%, and teachers 94%. Conclusions and Implications: These findings suggest that the developed dictionary is effective, user-friendly, and has strong potential to support the revitalisation of the Acehnese language through formal learning in primary schools. The developed dictionary is feasible and recommended for classroom use, yet requires continuous content updates and training for teachers.

Abstract

The Acehnese language constitutes an essential element in the formation of cultural identity, transmitted across generations. However, the ability of the younger generation to write in Acehnese in accordance with orthographic conventions has shown a declining trend. The Meusare Teumuleh program was implemented at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 5 Aceh Besar as a revitalization effort through training based on the local wisdom of Hadih Maja, particularly in the absence of formal Acehnese language instruction at the institution. The implementation methods included socialization, material development, training, mentoring, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The results indicated a significant improvement in students’ competencies, with scores increasing from an initial range of 10–20 to 45–75. The program not only enhanced students’ understanding of Acehnese orthographic systems but also fostered awareness of local cultural values, while encouraging the sustainability of culture-based learning within the school environment.
