Abstract

Ikatan kimia merupakan salah satu materi yang bersifat abstrak. Materi ikatan kimia penting dipelajari oleh mahasiswa tadris biologi karena berhubungan dengan sifat fisika dan kimia suatu zat seperti titik didih, titik leleh, dan kepolaran molekul. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pemahaman konsep mahasiswa Tadris Biologi tahun pertama pada topik ikatan ionik dan kovalen. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian deskriptif. Sampel penelitian adalah 87 mahasiswa Tadris Biologi tahun pertama. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa soal pilihan ganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menentukan contoh senyawa ionik dan kovalen serta jenis ikatan kimia yang terjadi pada suatu senyawa. Mahasiswa juga mengalami kesulitan untuk menentukan jenis ikatan suatu senyawa berdasarkan kemampuannya menghantarkan listrik. Level pemahaman mahasiswa tergolong sedang yaitu dengan jumlah persentase mahasiswa yang menjawab benar pada topik ikatan ionik dan kovalen masing-masing sebesar 42,91% dan 40,18%.

Abstract

Implementation of Value Education in Chemistry as an Effort to Develop Character. It has been indicated that there are moral setbacks for the nation's next generation. Therefore, it is necessary to instill values to shape character through education in schools and colleges. This study aims to analyze the values of learning chemistry, find out how educators embed values in learning chemistry and determine the obstacles faced in adding values in chemistry learning. The method in this research was descriptive qualitative using interviews as data collection techniques. The subjects interviewed were six lecturers who taught chemistry at five different colleges and two chemistry teachers who taught at High Schools and Vocational High Schools. The results showed that the character values in learning chemistry can be grouped into religious values, social values, and scientific values. Chemistry teachers or lecturers instill character values by getting them used to reading scriptures before learning, presenting phenomena in daily life related to the chemistry concept, giving independent or group assignments in learning and practicum, and be a good role models. Both teachers and lecturers faced some obstacles in instilling character values in chemistry learning.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the misconceptions experienced by students using a five-tier diagnostic test instrument on the concept of reaction rate and to determine the factors that cause misconceptions experienced by students on the concept of reaction rate. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study consisted of 30 students of class XI IPA 5 MAN 2 Lamongan for the 2021/2022 academic year. The instrument used in this study was a five-tier diagnostic test consisting of 26 questions. Analysis of the trial data results obtained a reliability coefficient of 0.846 with high criteria. The results showed that students experienced misconceptions about the reaction rate sub-concept of 26.67%, the collision theory sub-concept of 63.34%, the effect of temperature on the reaction rate sub-concept was 57.78%, the catalyst and activation energy sub-concept was 12.21%, the reaction order sub-concept was 18.90%, the sub-concept was preventing physical and chemical changes by 26.66%. Factors that cause students' misconceptions come from preconceptions, low basic abilities of students, students' interest in learning the concept of reaction rate, and student learning resources from the internet.

Abstract

Natural clay is a material that has various benefits and is abundant in the environment. This research will study about the characteristics of natural clay from Tulungagung, East Java, Indonesia. This research used two samples of Natural Clay-1 (NC-1) and Natural Clay 2 (NC-2) from Tulungagung, Sidem village, Gondang district. The natural clays were dried at room temperature for 2 days then pulverized and sieved using 100 mesh sieves. X-ray diffraction (XRD), x-ray fluorescence (XRF), infrared spectroscopy (IR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) have been utilized to characterize the natural clay. XRF analysis revealed that the primary components of Tulungagung's natural clay are Fe, Si, and Al. Montmorillonite, quartz, and anatase are the primary natural clay minerals, as determined by XRD and FTIR. The results of the SEM indicate a non-uniform material surface.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa pada setiap aspek multirepresentasi pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit dan untuk mengetahui faktorfaktor yang mempengaruhi miskonsepsi siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 64 siswa kelas X MIPA SMAN 1 Tulungagung tahun ajaran 2021/2022 yang ditentukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah tes diagnostik four-tier terintegrasi multirepresentasi berbasis piktorial sebanyak 22 butir soal. Koefisien reliabilitas soal yang diperoleh dari analisis data hasil uji coba soal sebesar 0,879 dengan kriteria sangat tinggi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa miskonsepsi yang dialami siswa pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit terjadi pada semua aspek multirepresentasi dengan persentase miskonsepsi pada representasi makroskopik-submikroskopik sebesar 28,45%, pada representasi simbolik-submikroskopik persentase miskonsepsi sebesar 22,20%, sedangkan pada representasi makroskopik-simbolik persentase miskonsepsi sebesar 20,85%. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi miskonsepsi siswa adalah karakteristik dan keterkaitan materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit dengan materi sebelumnya, minat dan gaya belajar siswa, sistem pembelajaran jarak jauh, dan rendahnya kemampuan serta penalaran siswa dalam memahami materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit.
