Abstract

The lack of public knowledge about medicinal plants and the properties of medicinal plants to increase body resistance or immunity. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to educate the public in the form of types of medicinal plants, their properties and how to use/process them appropriately based on an evidence-based scientific approach. The approach method used in community service activities is training in making herbal drinks for the community to increase the body's immunity with herbal drinks. The location of this extension activity was carried out in Mencirim Village, South Binjai District, Binjai City as a partner. During the one week training on making herbal drinks, the people of Mencirim Village were very enthusiastic and could even spend 40-50 bottles of herbal drinks every day.

Abstract

Thermochemistry is one of the chemistry topics that students often find difficult because it involves abstract concepts and mathematical calculations, resulting in low learning outcomes and limited classroom participation. This study aimed to improve students’ learning outcomes and learning activities through the implementation of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) learning model assisted by Wordwall media in thermochemistry learning. The study employed Classroom Action Research (CAR) using the Kemmis and McTaggart model, consisting of two cycles: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research was conducted in class XI-F1 of MAN 2 Model Medan during the 2025/2026 academic year, involving 35 students. Data were collected through achievement tests, observation sheets, and documentation. The results showed that the implementation of the TGT learning model assisted by Wordwall media improved students’ learning outcomes and learning activities. The average posttest score increased from 69.29 in Cycle I to 91.71 in Cycle II. Furthermore, the average N-gain score increased from 0.35 (medium category) to 0.87 (high category). Students’ learning activities also improved from 64% in Cycle I to 82% in Cycle II. These findings indicate that the integration of the TGT learning model and Wordwall media is effective in enhancing students’ understanding of thermochemistry concepts and encouraging active participation in the learning process.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve students' learning outcomes on acid-base material through the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) model integrated with batik-making activities. The study employed Classroom Action Research consisting of two cycles, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were students of class XI-4 SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Morawa. Data were collected through pretest and posttest instruments and analyzed using normalized gain (N-Gain). The results showed that the average score increased from 57.50 to 70.60 in cycle I with an N-Gain value of 0.46 (moderate category). In cycle II, the average score increased from 55.42 to 91.04 with an N-Gain value of 0.76 (high category). These findings indicate that Project Based Learning integrated with batik activities can effectively improve students' learning outcomes and create a contextual and meaningful learning process.
