Abstract

Kualitas gula sangat mempengaruhi daya saing perusahaan untuk meningkatkan hasil produksi. Dalam hal ini perusahaan harus terpacu untuk meningkatkan kualitas produk yang dihasilkannya dengan cara peningkatan teknologi, manajemen, bahan baku dan lain-lain. Hal ini dilakukan agar produk dapat diterima oleh konsumen. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kualitas gula putih kristal dengan tingkat kecacatan produk dengan menggunakan metode Six sigma. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Six Sigma. Six Sigma adalah suatu metodologi yang dipergunakan untuk melakukan upaya perbaikan dan peningkatan proses yang berkesinambungan atau terus menerus (Continuous Improvement). Six Sigma adalah DMAIC yang memberikan langkah dari menemukan permasalahan, mengidentifikasi penyebab masalah hingga akhirnya menemukan solusi untuk memperbaikinya. Ada beberapa tahapan dalam metodologi DMAIC yaitu Define (mendefinisikan masalah), Measure (pengukuran), Analysis (analisa), Improve (pengembangan), Control (pengendalian). Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh kecacatan yang terdapat di Pabrik Gula Kwala Madu setelah di lakukan perbaikan masih didalam batas normal.

Abstract

Sudden cardiac Arrest caused by cardiovascular disorders and metabolic syndrome is a significant concern in high-risk workplaces, such as the mining industry. At PT. Manggala Alam Lestari, employees' lack of preparedness for medical emergencies, coupled with high rates of metabolic syndrome, presents a critical challenge. This study aimed to enhance employee readiness through Basic Life Support (BLS) training and metabolic syndrome prevention programs. The methods implemented included hands-on CPR training, the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), routine health screenings, and health education campaigns focusing on healthy lifestyles. The training significantly improved employees' knowledge and skills, with 85% of participants mastering CPR and AED use. Annual screenings revealed hypertension prevalence at 17%, diabetes at 10%, and a reduction in obesity to 43%. Health education sessions increased employee awareness of lifestyle modifications, stress management, and early disease detection. The program demonstrated that combining BLS training with systematic health interventions effectively reduces risks and improves safety outcomes in remote and high-risk environments. It is recommended that similar programs be implemented in other high-risk industries to ensure workplace safety and enhance overall health. Abstrak Kematian mendadak akibat gangguan kardiovaskular dan sindrom metabolik menjadi perhatian besar di tempat kerja berisiko tinggi, seperti industri pertambangan. Di PT. Manggala Alam Lestari, kurangnya kesiapan karyawan dalam menghadapi keadaan darurat medis, ditambah dengan tingginya angka sindrom metabolik, menjadi tantangan utama. Pengbadian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesiapan karyawan melalui pelatihan Bantuan Hidup Dasar (BHD) dan program pencegahan sindrom metabolik. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pelatihan resusitasi jantung paru (RJP), penggunaan Automated External Defibrillator (AED), skrining kesehatan rutin, dan edukasi kesehatan terkait gaya hidup sehat. Pelatihan ini berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan karyawan, dengan 85% peserta mampu menguasai teknik RJP dan penggunaan AED. Skrining tahunan menunjukkan prevalensi hipertensi sebesar 17%, diabetes 10%, serta penurunan obesitas menjadi 43%. Sesi edukasi kesehatan meningkatkan kesadaran karyawan terhadap pentingnya pola hidup sehat, manajemen stres, dan deteksi dini penyakit. Program ini membuktikan bahwa kombinasi pelatihan BHD dengan intervensi kesehatan yang sistematis secara efektif mengurangi risiko dan meningkatkan keselamatan kerja di lingkungan terpencil dan berisiko tinggi. Disarankan agar program serupa diterapkan di sektor lain untuk meningkatkan keselamatan kerja dan kesehatan secara keseluruhan.

Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Basic Life Support (BLS) training using a mannequin and AED simulation in enhancing the technical skills and confidence of employees at PT. Manggala Alam Lestari (PT. MAL) in handling sudden cardiac arrest in a remote work environment. Research Methodology: The program employed a Community-Based Research (CBR) approach, involving active participation from employees. The training design included simulation-based exercises using a mannequin and AEDs. Data were collected using pre- and post-test questionnaires to measure knowledge and confidence levels. Results: The training resulted in a significant increase in the participants' knowledge, as evidenced by the rise in average post-test scores from 40.75 to 92.75. The standard deviation decreased from 17.74 to 8.16, indicating greater consistency in understanding among participants post-training. Conclusions: BLS training effectively enhanced both technical skills and confidence among employees, aligning with previous research findings that highlight the benefits of simulation-based training in improving clinical skills and preparedness for emergency situations. Limitations: This study was conducted at a single site with a limited sample size, which may affect the generalizability of the findings. The long-term retention of skills was not assessed beyond the immediate post-training period. Contribution: This training model can be applied to similar workplaces, particularly in remote locations with limited access to medical facilities, to improve emergency preparedness and safety outcomes.

Abstract

Purpose: This study evaluated the sobriety test as a tool for measuring physical fatigue and hypertension in shift workers at PT. Maggala Alam Lesari, with a focus on sleep duration. Research methodology: A descriptive quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted with 50 shift workers selected through purposive sampling. The Sobriety test assessed physical fatigue, and blood pressure measurements identified hypertension. A sleep duration questionnaire was used to explore its impact on fatigue and hypertension. Results: Of the 50 workers, 32 (65%) reported sleeping < 6 h per night, correlating with higher levels of physical fatigue. The average SBP of workers sleeping < 6 h per night was 141. mmHg (SD = 6.5), while those sleeping > 6 h per night had an average SBP of 133. mmHg (SD = 5.2). Forty percent of the participants were diagnosed with hypertension, with the majority reporting inadequate sleep. Conclusions: The sobriety test effectively measured physical fatigue among shift workers. Shorter sleep duration was associated with higher levels of fatigue and increased hypertension, which could elevate the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Improving sleep quality is a critical intervention to enhance the health and well-being of shift workers. Limitations: The cross-sectional design of the study limits the causal conclusions, and the sample size may not be fully representative. Contributions: This study emphasizes the importance of sleep-in managing fatigue and hypertension, and provides insights for improving worker health.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of 12th-grade students in Basic Life Support (BLS) and choking management through simulation-based health education at SMA Negeri 6 Pekanbaru. Research Methodology: A one-group pre-test–post-test community service design was conducted on 80 students using interactive lectures, group discussions, live demonstrations, and hands-on practice with BLS and choking manikins; knowledge questionnaires and skill checklists adapted from the 2020 American Heart Association guidelines were used for evaluation. Results: The mean knowledge score increased from approximately 60 (pre-test) to 90 (post-test), and most participants shifted from unskilled to skilled categories in recognizing cardiac arrest, performing chest compressions with adequate depth and rate, and applying the correct choking-relief sequence. Conclusions: Simulation-based health education effectively enhanced high school students’ basic life support and choking management competencies and has the potential to strengthen emergency preparedness within the school environment. Limitations: This study used a single-group design in one school without long-term follow-up; therefore, causal inference and skill retention over time could not be fully assessed. Contributions: The program provides a practical model for integrating simulation-based BLS and choking training into school health promotion activities and offers guidance for educators, public health practitioners, and policymakers seeking to build community first-responder capacity among adolescents.
