Abstract

Berbicara tentang proses komunikasi, perlu kita ketahui bersama bahwa komunikasi yang efektif ialah komunikasi yang melibatkan pertemuan secara tatap muka atau yang biasa disebut dengan komunikasi langsung. Dengan melakukan komunikasi langsung dengan lawan bicara, efek atau umpan balik bisa didapatkan secara real-time atau langsung pada saat itu juga. Permasalahan yang sering dialami adalah ketika mahasiswa yang sedang melakukan tugas perkuliahan yang melibatkan informan di daerah sekitar menjadi terhambat karena tidak ada media yang pas untuk mendapatkan informan. Selain itu, masih banyak orang yang menganggap MiChat sebagai aplikasi yang bermuatan negatif, padahal fitur yang disediakan bisa membawa kita pada hal-hal positif. Solusi yang ditawarkan dari permasalahan tersebut adalah mengedukasi peserta sosialisasi tentang bagaimana cara bijak menggunakan aplikasi MiChat dengan memanfaatkan fitur-fitur yang tersedia. Tujuan tersebut dilaksanakan dengan metode sosialisasi serta pendampingan kepada para peserta. Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan perubahan pengetahuan dan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam menguasai salah satu bentuk perkembangan teknologi.

Abstract

Obsession with books often reflects broader social and cultural values. This research aims to understand the phenomenon of book obsession through a New Historicism approach, focusing on the cases of John Charles Gilkey and Ken Sanders. The method used is a qualitative case study with textual and contextual analysis of the book "The Man Who Loved Books Too Much" by Allison Hoover Bartlett. The findings show that Gilkey's obsession with books was driven not only by a love of literature, but also by a desire for social recognition and status. Gilkey's behavior, often breaking the law to acquire rare books, reflects how individuals can sacrifice social norms to achieve personal goals influenced by historical and cultural contexts. In contrast, Sanders' dedication to protecting and preserving rare books shows the positive side of book obsession, where it contributes to the preservation of knowledge and cultural heritage. This research provides insight into the dynamics of book obsession and how social and cultural values can influence individual behavior. Keywords: Culture, Books, New Historicism, Obsession

Abstract

This study evaluates the satisfaction of student users of the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) at the Modern Library of Southeast Sulawesi using the End User Computing Satisfaction (EUCS) method. The research measures five variables: content, accuracy, format, ease of use, and timeliness. A descriptive quantitative method was used in this study with a sample of 81 respondents from a population of 102, selected randomly. Observations were conducted directly by the researcher using a Likert scale questionnaire as the instrument. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 29. The results showed a very high level of user satisfaction, with scores for each variable exceeding 75%. The conclusion of this study is that student users are satisfied with the implementation of OPAC at the Southeast Sulawesi Modern Library, indicating that the library information system is functioning well.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of using WhatsApp as a tool for archival management by applying the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The research measures four variables: Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Attitude Toward Using, and Behavioral Intention to Use. A quantitative approach using a survey method was employed, involving 88 students from the Library and Information Science program at Universitas Halu Oleo, class of 2024. The research instrument consisted of a questionnaire utilizing a Likert scale to evaluate students' perceptions of the ease and benefits of using WhatsApp. The findings indicate that the Perceived Usefulness and Perceived Ease of Use variables have an average score of 3.7, categorized as optimal. Meanwhile, the Attitude Toward Using variable achieved a mean of 3.5, also classified as optimal. However, the Behavioral Intention to Use variable showed an average score of 3.4, which has not yet reached the optimal category. Overall, WhatsApp is perceived as a beneficial and easy-to-use tool, though there is room for improvement in fostering a stronger intention to use it consistently.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors influencing service quality at the Library of Halu Oleo University by employing the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method supported by LISREL 8.80 software. The variables examined include service quality (X1) and library facilities (X2) as exogenous variables, as well as perceived quality (Y) as the endogenous variable. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 100 library users from various faculties and academic years who visited the library. Each indicator was measured using a five-point Likert scale. The data were analyzed through several stages, including tests of normality, validity, reliability, measurement model estimation, and structural model evaluation. The results of the validity and reliability tests showed that the indicators used met the required criteria for loading factor, t-value, Construct Reliability (CR), and Variance Extracted (VE). The structural model analysis revealed that service quality had a positive and significant effect on perceived quality, with a coefficient of 0.78. Meanwhile, library facilities also had a positive and significant effect, with a coefficient of 0.29. The R² value of 0.89 indicates that 89% of the variance in perceived quality can be explained by these two variables. This study demonstrates that service quality plays the most dominant role in enhancing users’ perceptions of library service quality, followed by library facilities. These findings emphasize the importance of improving service performance and managing library facilities effectively to create an optimal service experience for users
