Abstract

This research investigated the impact of nature exposure on mental health and well-being in West Bandung Regency, Indonesia, a region characterized by diverse natural landscapes. A mixed-method approach combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews was employed to gather data from residents of various communities in the area. The quantitative findings indicated that more frequent nature exposure was associated with lower levels of stress, anxiety, and depression. The qualitative insights revealed that nature exposure provided a sense of relaxation, tranquility, and rejuvenation, enhancing emotional well-being. The study underscores the restorative effects of nature and the importance of integrating green spaces into urban planning to promote mental health in rapidly developing regions like the West Bandung Regency.

Abstract

Village development is the primary foundation for inclusive and sustainable community welfare. Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) are designed to stimulate village economic activity, but their effectiveness depends on institutional governance, business unit relevance, and managerial professionalism. This study analyzes the impact of BUMDes performance on welfare in Bedahlawak, Jatiwates, Gabusbanaran, and Kepuhdoko villages, Tembelang Regency, and compares the success of these four BUMDes based on institutional factors and the Village Development Index (IPK). This research uses a qualitative comparative case study approach. Data were collected through key informant interviews, documentation of village-owned enterprise (BUMDes) financial reports and village budgets (APBDes), and secondary data from the 2015–2026 Indonesian Village Development Index (IDM). Analysis used the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014), supplemented by comparative thematic analysis. The findings show varying impacts of BUMDes: Seroja, Cahaya Gemilang, and Bung Hatta demonstrated positive welfare impacts, while Santosa stagnated due to 44.4% of unproductive capital. Benefits for vulnerable groups remain limited. Success is determined by business unit relevance, institutional accountability, and oversight free from conflicts of interest. The IDM proved to be an inaccurate proxy for BUMDes performance due to its aggregate nature. Two new propositions emerge: structural conflicts of interest as amplifying governance failures, and agricultural value chain strategies that are sectoral, not automatically inclusive. It is recommended that Seroja focus on downstream rice processing, Cahaya Gemilang digitize PPOB management and formalize standard operating procedures (SOPs), Bung Hatta codify institutional knowledge, and Santosa establish a receivables settlement team while separating oversight roles from village structures. District and regional governments should establish Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) Forums, standardize risk-based oversight SOPs, and implement capital requirements for underperforming BUMDes.

Abstract

The One Village One Product (OVOP) approach is a community-based economic development strategy that encourages villages to optimize local resources through the development of distinctive and competitive products. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the OVOP concept in Tambakrejo Village and its contribution to the development of local economy-based Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through observation, interviews with MSME actors and village stakeholders, and documentation of local economic activities. The findings indicate that Tambakrejo Village has considerable potential for developing local products based on its available natural resources, community skills, and entrepreneurial activities. The implementation of OVOP can strengthen MSME capacity through product development, improvement of product quality and packaging, utilization of digital marketing, expansion of market access, and enhancement of community participation. However, several challenges remain, including limited managerial capacity, access to financing, technology adoption, product standardization, and sustainable marketing strategies. Therefore, the successful implementation of OVOP requires stronger collaboration among the village government, MSME actors, community groups, financial institutions, and other supporting stakeholders. The OVOP approach not only has the potential to increase MSME competitiveness but also serves as an instrument for strengthening local economic independence and creating sustainable village-based economic growth.
