Abstract

Coconut dregs is a waste that contain cellulose as a material for making composite paper. This study aimed to know the quality of this composite paper based on organoleptic test. Organoleptic tests were also carried out to determine the level of liking for paper based on the texture, color, and odor. Composite paper in this study made of coconut pulp and used HVS paper pulp combination. This designed experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 replications of 3 treatments and a control. The data obtained were analyzed using the Anova test and the DMRT test with a level of 5%. Organoleptic test results with the addition of 15% coconut dregs (P1) showed the highest results of liking in terms of texture, fiber appearance, color, and odor. Based on DMRT test, P1 had significant different result than others. Thus, P1 was the most liking as composite paper. Furthermore, this research has the potential to be developed for physical test for justified this composite paper has a good paper quality.

Abstract

Coconut dregs is a waste that has non-wood fiber thus it is potential as a material for making composite paper. The use of coconut dregs in this study aims to determine its potential as a raw material for making composite paper through tensile resistance and tear resistance.             The making of composite paper in this study was carried out by combining coconut pulp and used HVS paper pulp. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 replications consisting of 3 treatments and a control. The data obtained were analyzed using the Anova test and the DMRT test with a level of 5%..             The highest paper tensile resistance test results were obtained by P1 which was 0.26 kN / m smaller than 1.26 kN / m (P0 as a control), as well as the highest paper tear resistance test results obtained by P2 at 340 mN smaller than 666 , 4 mN (P0 as control). Based on the data obtained, the addition of coconut dregs or not in making composite paper shows a potential that does not have a significant effect. This research has the potential to be developed for better paper quality.

Abstract

Zalta Farma Drugstore is a health institution in selling drug. The administration system was conventional that every transaction was manually written thus causing some problems such as error in calculation, unvalidated information, and difficulties in writing report. The aims of this research were to design and to know the implementation of information system of sale product based on website at this drugstore. The development method of this system used SDLC method with application development system such as flowchart, diagram, context, DFD, and a purposed database designing (ERD). Moreover, the used Text Editor software was Visual Studio Code in PHP programming language using framework code igniter and database using MySQL. The result was an information system of sale product based on website that used by Zalta Farma Drugstore. This system helps people in transaction thus the monthly report was produced every month

Abstract

This community service initiative aimed to empower Islamic boarding school students and local farmers in Lempake, Samarinda, through the transfer of innovative biochar production technology utilizing biomass waste. The target community faces significant challenges, including poor soil fertility, land degradation from post-mining activities, and underutilization of abundant organic waste. The introduced biochar technology employs a simple pyrolysis process using Kon-Tiki Kilns to convert agricultural residues into porous, carbon-rich material, enhancing soil structure, nutrient retention, and water-holding capacity while reducing reliance on chemical fertilizers. The Program activities included field observations, awareness campaigns, hands-on training, technology demonstrations, mentoring, and evaluation, with Pesantren Rahmatullah serving as a strategic hub for education and local innovation. The results showed significant improvements in participants' knowledge and skills in producing and applying biochar, stimulating community-based business opportunities, enhancing soil.

Abstract

In this classroom context, several first-year students showed difficulty maintaining learning focus when basic economic concepts were delivered through long and continuous oral explanations. This classroom condition created challenges in Introduction to Economics, a conceptual course that requires students to understand abstract and interrelated concepts. This study aimed to improve student's understanding of basic economic concepts through the implementation of Direct Instruction integrated with formative assessment using a chunking technique. A Classroom Action Research design was employed in two cycles involving 19 first-semester Industrial Engineering students at Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Kalimantan Timur. Learning materials were presented in small, sequential conceptual units, and each unit was followed by formative assessment and immediate feedback. Data were analyzed descriptively by comparing class mean scores, the number and percentage of students achieving the minimum mastery criteria, and observed changes in student’s learning engagement. The results showed a positive improvement in the local classroom context. The percentage of students achieving the minimum mastery criteria increased from only 15.8% in the pre-action stage to 36.8% in Cycle I and 84.2% in Cycle II, with the average score of class rising from 34.3 in pre-action stage to 59.8 in Cycle I and 83.8 in Cycle II and average score of students who achieved mastery rising from 70.6 in pre-action stage to 77.4 in Cycle I and 88.8 in Cycle II. Students also demonstrated better focus, more active participation, and reduced anxiety during the learning process. These findings indicate that Direct Instruction combined with chunking and formative assessment has practical potential to support the improvement of basic economic concept learning in the class studied.

Abstract

The tofu Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector constitutes a vital agro-industrial component that significantly contributes to food security and local economic development. Nevertheless, its sustainability remains constrained by inefficient resource utilization and suboptimal waste management practices. This study aimed to develop an integrated Green Productivity–Fishbone Diagram model to optimize waste management while enhancing sustainable productivity in tofu MSMEs in Samarinda, Indonesia. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed through field observations, structured interviews, documentation, and direct measurements. Productivity performance was assessed using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), whereas environmental performance was evaluated through the Environmental Performance Indicator (EPI). The findings revealed a production capacity of 1,650 units per month, a financial productivity index of 1.1165, and an improvement in productivity from 104.9% to 107.4%. A multi-stage filtration system utilizing coconut shell activated carbon effectively reduced COD concentrations from 1,449.162 to 213.945 mg/L and BOD from 136.79 to 135.50 mg/L, achieving removal efficiencies of 85.24% and 0.95%, respectively, while increasing pH from 3.68 to 6.59, thereby complying with the applicable wastewater quality standards. The proposed model substantially improves resource efficiency, strengthens environmental performance, and supports the implementation of circular economy principles for sustainable tofu MSME development.
