Abstract

Atherosclerosis that occurs in the heart arteries is called coronary heart disease, which is narrowing and hardening of the coronary arteries in the heart. Atherosclerosis is influenced by several factors, one of which is smoking behavior, as one of the risk factors that can worsen atherosclerosis. However, there are no studies that link smoking behavior to the severity of atherosclerosis in the invasive diagnostic space and intervention of the heart and blood vessels of the RSUD dr. Doris Sylvanus Palangka Raya. The study was to determine the relationship of smoking behavior with the severity of atherosclerosis in patients with coronary heart disease in the invasive diagnostic room and intervention of the heart and blood vessels of RSUD dr. Doris Sylvanus Palangka Raya. This study was conducted using a cross-sectional method, using accidental sampling sampling techniques through questionnaires and coronary angiography observation sheets with 30 respondents who were coronary heart patients who underwent coronary angiographic examination in the Invasive Diagnostic Room and Intervention of the Heart and Blood Vessels of RSUD from . Doris Sylvanus Palangka Raya. From this study ρ (P Value) is 0.004, which means there is a relationship between smoking behavior and the severity of atherosclerosis in coronary heart disease patients in the Invasive Diagnostic Room and Intervention of the Heart and Blood Vessels of RSUD dr. Doris Sylvanus Palangka Raya. There needs to be information about the dangers of smoking behavior that nurses can give to patients, and further research is carried out on the factors that influence the severity of other atherosclerosis both those that can be modified and those that cannot be modified.

Abstract

Obesity is a major cause of diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and other metabolic disorders. A preliminary study conducted on 15 police officers from the Central Kalimantan Police Department revealed that 9 officers (60%) were obese, while 6 officers (40%) were not. Among the 9 obese officers, 8 admitted to rarely engaging in regular physical activity and frequently consuming fast food, while 1 officer was in the process of losing weight by exercising and maintaining a healthy diet. The causes of obesity include physical activity and dietary patterns. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between physical activity and dietary patterns and the incidence of obesity among police officers at the Central Kalimantan Police Department. Methods: This correlational study used a cross-sectional approach to examine the relationship between physical activity and dietary patterns and the incidence of obesity among police officers at the Central Kalimantan Police Department. Data collection instruments included questionnaires and BMI measurements. The sample consisted of 196 police officers classified as overweight and obese, selected through simple random sampling. The data were analyzed using the Chi-Square correlation test. Results: The study found a significant relationship between physical activity (p-value = 0.000, 83.6%) and dietary patterns (p-value = 0.000, 73.8%) and the incidence of obesity among police officers at the Central Kalimantan Police Department. Conclusion: Physical activity and dietary patterns are significantly related to the incidence of obesity among police officers at the Central Kalimantan Police Department. The role of nurses in addressing obesity should begin with an accurate assessment of family care patterns, ensuring that interventions and education provided are effective, and prioritizing promotive and preventive measures to address obesity and prevent the emergence of chronic diseases.

Abstract

Hypertension is defined as an increase in systolic blood pressure >140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure >90 mmHg, often triggered by unhealthy modern lifestyles. In the Working Area of Puskesmas Tumbang Talaken, Gunung Mas Regency, there was an increase in hypertension cases in 2021. Interviews with 10 patients revealed that 5 had a family history of hypertension and poor dietary habits, 3 were active smokers, and 2 rarely exercised and often felt tense due to work-related stress. The high number of hypertension cases warrants research into the factors associated with the incidence of hypertension in this area. The aim of this study is to analyze the factors related to hypertension incidence in Puskesmas Tumbang Talaken. Method: A correlational study with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected using observation and questionnaires (physical activity, diet, Depression Anxiety Stress Scales, and smoking habits). The sample consisted of 180 respondents visiting Puskesmas Tumbang Talaken, selected using accidental sampling, and data were analyzed using the Chi-square correlation test. Results: The study showed significant relationships between genetic factors (p-value = 0.000), diet (p-value = 0.000), physical activity (p-value = 0.000), stress (p-value = 0.000), and smoking habits (p-value = 0.000) with the incidence of hypertension in the Working Area of Puskesmas Tumbang Talaken, Gunung Mas Regency. Conclusion: The focus of hypertension control programs should be integrated and include comprehensive services, such as promotive and preventive services through health promotion activities, as well as curative and rehabilitative services. Behavioral changes should focus on avoiding cigarette smoke, adopting a healthy diet, and engaging in regular physical activity.
