Abstract

The largest production of paddy is produced from rain-fed rice fields scattered in Kecamatan Pulau Laut Timur. With the Operation and Maintenance on rainfed rice field is expected to improve service to local farmers. To evaluate the Operation and Maintenance can be measured by measuring its dimensions in the form of: 1) Facility / physical infrastructure, 2) Supporting facilities, 3) Organization, 4) Documentation, institutional condition, and 5) Productivity cropping. This study aims to determine the level of farmers' perceptions of Operation and Maintenance activities, then provide recommendations for priority development and improvement of Operation and Maintenance management. By using quiz dispersion method for farmer perception and expectation in Kecamatan Pulau Laut Timur. The data were processed by quantitative descriptive analysis, TKi suitability analysis, quadrant analysis to determine the priority order of the improvement of OP. The result of the analysis of the farmers' suitability level was in the dissatisfied category, with the percentage of TKi ≤ 100%. And quadrant analysis: the main improvement priority in quadrant I (one), that is in the low priority, the variable is in (X1,1), where the channel condition is not in line with the farmer's expectation. Evaluation and development of rainfed maintenance and maintenance operations by raising awareness of farmers maintaining and maintaining channels. The need for technical / non-technical irrigation infrastructure development to support the success of agricultural activities. Keywords : Farmers perception, Irigations, Operation and maintenance, Rainfed rice field

Abstract

The power plant type turbine pelton of scale laboratory was made to be used as a practical medium of students and lecturers of mechanical engineering in the environment Politeknik of Kotabaru. The purpose of this research was to obtain an ideal design for hydropower systems as learning media; Knowing the effect of the lamp load on the generator rotation, knowing the effect of the type of 12 VDC and 24 VDC lamp loads with varying loads on the generator power output. The method used in this study is a literature study and experimental methods. The research results obtained are the design has a table height of 90 cm and a width of 100 cm, the height of the loading panel is 80 cm, the air pressure from the pump is 270 psi with a nozzle size of 1,7 mm, a 12 blade Pelton turbine, a 36 V 60 A DC generator; the type of lamp load affects of generator rotation where when the type of load is 12 VDC the generator rotation is smaller than when the lamp load is 24 VDC, while the large lamp load given to the system causes of generator rotation to decrease or the effect of the lamp load on generator rotation is inversely proportional; the greater of lamp load lower the output power of generator, both with 12 VDC and 24 VDC load types or in other words, it is also reversed.

Abstract

This study examines the performance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems with off-grid and on-grid configurations as practical learning media at Politeknik Kotabaru. The testing was conducted on AC loads with parameters including solar radiation intensity, voltage, current, and the power stored in the battery. Monocrystalline and polycrystalline solar panels were used to compare energy conversion efficiency. The results show that monocrystalline panels perform better than polycrystalline panels, with average differences in power and efficiency of 1,30 W and 0,50% in the off-grid system, and 1,11 W and 0,44% in the on-grid system. Solar radiation intensity significantly affects output power and conversion efficiency, with the highest power of 49,28 W obtained at the maximum radiation intensity of 1015 W/m². This study confirms that the PV system trainer can serve as an effective learning medium to enhance students’ competence in understanding the differences between off-grid and on-grid systems.

Abstract

The utilization of biomass as a renewable energy source represents a strategic alternative to reduce dependence on fossil fuels while promoting the sustainable use of organic waste. This study aims to evaluate the effect of varying ratios of bamboo charcoal and coconut shell charcoal, with coconut husk charcoal and binder composition kept constant, on the combustion characteristics of biomass briquettes, including ignition time, burning duration, and maximum combustion temperature. The research was conducted experimentally through biomass pyrolysis at a temperature of 300 °C for 10 hours, followed by material mixing, briquette molding, and combustion testing. The results indicate that variations in raw material composition significantly influence briquette combustion behavior. Briquettes with higher bamboo charcoal content exhibit faster ignition, whereas those dominated by coconut shell charcoal produce longer burning duration and higher combustion temperatures. The observed combustion behavior is qualitatively discussed based on differences in biomass characteristics as reported in the literature. These findings demonstrate that blending biomass with different combustion properties can achieve more balanced briquette performance.
