Abstract

In 2023, Palembang city have four grade-separated intersections. One of the types of research is Polda intersection. The intersection has flyover infrastructure. Initially, this flyover was built in 2006 until 2008 to provide a solution to reduce congestion. Along with the growth of traffic in Palembang city until now, in fact it often causes congestion. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the performance of grade-separated intersection using the microsimulation PTV Vissim program. Performance evaluation is carried out by simulating traffic flow with current conditions. The results showed that microsimulation modelling at the Polda intersection Palembang experienced a queue of vehicles on the Demang Lebar Daun street along 297 meters/10 minutes during weekday peak hours and 217 meters/10 minutes during weekend peak hours. The results of evaluation and visual analysis can be used as references for the development of further research and optimization in the intersection area.

Abstract

Flexible pavement planning methods can be classified into five categories, namely empirical methods, methods for limiting shear failure, methods for limiting deflection, regression methods based on pavement performance or road tests and empirical mechanistic methods. Pavement design procedures can be modeled as several layers or viscoelastic structures in an elastic band. By estimating that the pavement structure is like this, it is possible to calculate the stresses, strains, or deflections caused by traffic loads and environmental factors. This research will evaluate the construction structure of a porous asphalt mixture using cariphalte modified asphalt and the addition of gilsonite on a road section with a high traffic volume with an LHR above 50,000 pavement vehicles so that the thickness of the pavement structure layer will be obtained and then evaluated using the KENPAVE program. The results of this study show that the structural performance of porous asphalt mixtures with the addition of gilsonite in the pavement structure increases not significantly with increasing permit repetition loads at fatigue crack damage criteria of 0.5% and 0.45% for segment 4 and segment 5 respectively. Segment 3 showed a significant increase in the permit repetition load of 26.3% compared to the normal mixture. The structural performance of porous asphalt mixtures with the addition of gilsonite in the pavement structure increases insignificantly with the increase in the repetition permit load on the criteria for used grooves from vehicle wheels by 0.42% and 0.74% respectively for segment 4 and segment 5. However, in segment 3, there was a significant increase in the permit repetition load of 30.5% compared to the normal mixture.

Abstract

The new technology that is being developed is porous asphalt pavement structures, which are made for road segments with less dense traffic. This structure is designed to include facilities such as parking lots, bicycle lanes, pedestrian sidewalks, and tennis court areas. This study involves the analysis of calculation results based on secondary field data and experimental data from laboratory-scale experiments. The design of the road pavement is based on the AASHTO 1993 method. The field data used includes information on the LHR (Load History Record) of the Dawuan Highway (Cikampek) section, the CBR (California Bearing Ratio) value of the subgrade, and the existing pavement conditions (including existing pavement structures and deflection data). Meanwhile, experimental data comes from testing the resilient modulus of porous asphalt mixtures using Cariphalte asphalt and additional gilsonite material with optimal levels. The resilient modulus value was obtained from laboratory testing using the Universal Material Testing Apparatus (UMATTA). The results of this study produced a pavement design using a gilsonite mixture that produced a thinner thickness than standard AC-WC materials. For example, for segment 3 with a modified mixture, the pavement thickness is 13 cm, while the standard AC-WC produces a thickness of 20 cm. It can be seen that using a modified Gilsonite mixture requires an overlay layer 7 cm thinner than using a standard AC-WC mixture.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah 6 Elementary School, Palembang City, is one of the schools located on Jalan Jendran Sudirman, which is right in front of the main road. As a result, many parents dropping their children off at school stop on the roadside. Parking on the roadside around Muhammadiyah 6 Elementary School, Palembang, has caused significant traffic congestion, especially during the morning rush hour (6:00–7:00 AM) and afternoon rush hour (2:30–3:00 PM). This is because the existing parking facilities at the school do not meet the parking needs of vehicles. Therefore, an evaluation is needed regarding the parking capacity needs at the elementary school. The method used is a descriptive method with an inductive approach, through a field survey at 6:30–3:00 PM. The survey results show that the average daily number of vehicles entering and leaving the location is 1,472 motorcycles and 567 cars. The need for parking space reaches 149,3184 m² for motorcycles and 322,368 m² for cars, but the available land is only 105.75 m² for motorcycles and 280 m² for cars. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a need for additional parking space or a pick-up and drop-off system by parents/guardians of students to prevent vehicles from stopping on the road and allow for smooth and orderly traffic flow
