Abstract

The Brantas River is still used for bathing, washing, and toilet purposes by the community around the river located on Agung Suprapto Dalam Street, Klojen District, Malang Regency. This needs attention because from the physical conditions observed, the Brantas River is suspected to have been polluted due to waste discharges from households and Syaiful Anwar Hospital. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze pollution parameters to determine the quality of the Brantas River. This research consists of two stages, namely field and laboratory activities. Field activities are the sampling stage and laboratory activities are the sample parameter analysis stage. The analysis results show that the pH of the water body is 7.3; temperature is 27 oC; alkalinity/acidity is 64.3 ppm; hardness is 11 oD; turbidity is 006 NTU; TSS is 40 ppm; TDS is 140 ppm; DO is 12.3 mg/L; BOD is 95%; COD is 88 mg/L; and dissolved CO2 content is 74.8 mg/L. Based on these data, it can be concluded that the Brantas River is included in class 3 of water quality with a moderate pollution category according to Government Regulation Number 22 of 2021.
