Abstract

Atma Riders is a motorcycle enthusiast community within Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia that emphasizes family values and collective leadership. However, the community has faced several internal challenges, including the absence of a clear organizational system, low member participation, weak coordination among divisions, and conflicts caused by unclear roles and decision-making mechanisms. This community engagement program aimed to develop participatory and flexible Bylaws (AD/ART) that align with the community’s characteristics to support organizational sustainability. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach through several stages, including need assessment, focus group discussions (FGDs), workshops for drafting the bylaws, and program evaluation. The intervention involved active board members, community members, alumni, faculty advisors, and a law student who supported the legal drafting process. The results demonstrated that the collaborative development of the AD/ART successfully clarified the organizational structure, role distribution, members’ rights and obligations, as well as conflict resolution and decision-making mechanisms. Program evaluation based on Dunn’s dimensions indicated positive outcomes in effectiveness, adequacy, responsiveness, and appropriateness. Furthermore, the participatory process enhanced members’ sense of ownership, emotional attachment to the community, and commitment to implementing collective leadership practices. The resulting AD/ART serves not only as a formal organizational document but also as a strategic foundation for strengthening collective leadership, transparency, and the long-term sustainability of the Atma Riders community.

Abstract

Vickery Christian Academy (VCA) is a semi-homeschooling-based community where parents who choose to educate their children at home (homeschoolers) become members of the community. Needs analysis conducted through surveys, interviews, and FGD revealed that junior and senior high school students at VCA face challenges in managing their study time independently. This training intervention aimed to enhance students’ self-regulated learning attitude, knowledge, and skills, focusing on time management, goal setting, learning styles awareness, and fostering hope. This training was conducted in person on June 5, 2025, involving 28 students. The implementation methods included interactive lectures, group discussions, and worksheet activities. Evaluation was carried out through pre-test and post-test assessments, the Online Self-Regulated Learning Questionnaire (OSLO), observations, and participant feedback forms. The results showed an average improvement of 13.06% between the pre-test and post-test scores. In addition, the average OSLQ score increased by 6.78%, indicating a positive shift in students’ self-regulated learning behaviors. The training had a positive impact by increasing students’ awareness of time management and their ability to formulate concrete learning goals. In conclusion, self-regulated learning training successfully empowered the VCA community in implementing self-regulated learning in students.

Abstract

The number of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever cases in Indonesia has reached 10,752 and remains a public health issue requiring greater attention from both the government and the community. The Mosquito Monitoring Community (Jumantik) serves as a community group responsible for monitoring and supervising local residents to ensure their environment is free from mosquito larvae. In carrying out their duties, the cadres are expected to provide education through public outreach so that residents can understand strategies to prevent mosquito larvae inside their homes. However, in practice, some residents refuse home inspections and show indifference toward cleanliness. Additionally, the importance of maintaining a larva-free home is not well understood by many residents. The communication approaches used by the cadres to engage with the community also often result in discomfort among the residents. Furthermore, Jumantik cadres do not receive training on how to properly conduct educational outreach. Therefore, an intervention in the form of assertive and persuasive communication training is necessary to improve their communication skills. Follow-up actions such as coaching and the distribution of questionnaires were also carried out to monitor progress in communication skills after the training. The results showed positive development in the communication abilities of the Jumantik cadres, especially in persuasive communication. Representatives of neighborhood associations (RT) and residents also reported improvements in the communication skills of the Jumantik cadres.

Abstract

Gita Crescentia is a Catholic youth community choir at St. Yakobus Church, Jakarta, which faces issues with the members’ low frequency of individual vocal practice. This problem affects the quality of rehearsals and overall performance during services. Through a community-based approach, a habit tracker intervention was designed and implemented over two weeks to encourage independent practice habits. The intervention involved active participation from members and committees of the community. It was evaluated formatively using Global Progress and summatively with Self Report Habit Index (SRHI). Results indicated an increase in the average frequency of independent practice from the first to the second week. These findings indicate that the habit trackers contributed to building a more consistent and autonomous rehearsal routine, the impact however was not significant. This activity highlights the importance of member participation in designing programs relevant to the community’s needs and the role of ongoing monitoring in sustaining newly formed habits.
