Abstract

This research was aimed to find out the student error in pronouncing English post alveolar consonants sound at the eleventh grade of Senior High School 1 Jambi City. The research methodology of this study was qualitative descriptive research which involved the subject. The subject of this research is XI MIPA 2 of Senior High School 1 Jambi City which contains of 36 students. In collecting the data, the researcher gave test and collected the student transcript. The result of the research showed that the eleventh grade students of Senior High School 1 Jambi City got a high percentage of error in pronouncing English post alveolar consonant sounds. The type of error that have very high significance to pronounce by the students is /ӡ/ sound which is 86%. In contrast with /∫/ sound where the students just made low percentage of an error pronunciation in 14%. From four categories of errors which is addition. Omission, substitution and ordering, the most dominant error made by the students are substitution with percentage 97,7%.

Abstract

Main problem of this research are Covid-19 and Online learning that impact the learning process and psychological of EFL. The aim of this study is to determine how psychological issues related to the COVID-19 epidemic affect students who learn by online. The researcher will employ field research as the method of inquiry, observation and interviews. Research participants are 6 students who in twelfth grade. The findings lead to the psychological problems that indicated as Behavioural Apathy. Which are linked to the Cognitive psychology and Neuropsychology. Based on the findings, Students lost their interested in study by online learning, even lost their spirit in learning. Their feel so bored and tired, too much assignment and no explanation with bad signal (some of them) made theirs doesn’t really care about the lessons. The students being lazy to think and loves to be procrastinating of work. Some of them suffering by this situation but others not. The laziness of thinking and studying has persisted to this day.

Abstract

This research was made to find out whether there is any good impact after the Three-Step Interview Method was applied to the students of the eleventh grade of Senior High School Adhyaksa 1 Jambi. This research used quantitative method, and true experimental design to approach the students with pretest-posttest control group design. Through simple random sampling technique, the researcher took 48 students as the sample of this research, with the total population of 140 students. XI MIPA 1 was chosen as the control class and XI MIPA 2 as the experimental class. The technique of distributing the data was speaking test where the students were asked to give their opinion using English through the given case, with pre-test, treatments, and post-test. This research used t test as the data analysis technique with Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) for Windows version 21 program. The results that were found in this research are: (1) students’ speaking skill taught by using the Three-Step Interview method reached the mean of 20,00; (2) students’ speaking skill taught by using the normal group discussion method reached the mean of 19,21; (3) students’ speaking skill taught by using the Three-Step Interview method is higher than students’ speaking skill taught by using the normal group discussion method with a value of Sig. 0.000 > 0.05. Therefore, there is a significant impact in using Three-Step Interview for the students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out whether or not there was any significant effect of kahoot toward students’ reading comprehension at tenth grade students of SMAN 8 Muaro Jambi. This research used quantitative research method with quasi-experimental research design which implicated experimental class and control class. The total population in this research was tenth grade students of SMAN 8 Muaro Jambi which consisted of 253 students. The samples of this research were chosen by using cluster sampling. The samples were divided into two classes, experimental class which consisted of 35 students and control class which consisted of 36 students. The technique of data collection in this research was pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data were analyzed by using t-test. The researcher found that the mean score of pre-test at experimental class was 61,85 and the post-test was 81,71. Meanwhile the mean score of pre-test at experimental class was 60,00 and the post-test was 70,13. The result of t-test analysis presented that observation was higher than t-table (7,75 > 1,994). Therefore, H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. As the result, there was any significant effect of kahoot toward students’ reading comprehension at tenth grade students of SMAN 8 Muaro Jambi
