Abstract

This research aims to analyze and reduce waste in the woven bag production line at PT Kerta Rajasa Raya through the Lean Manufacturing approach using the Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) methods. The company experienced various types of waste such as waiting time, unnecessary movement, over-processing, and product defects, which led to a decrease in production efficiency. The analysis results showed that the highest types of waste were unnecessary motion, defects, and excess processing. Using VSM, it was found that of the total production time of 51,997 seconds, only 51.1% were value-added activities. Through the application of FMEA, the main causes of waste were identified based on the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) value, and a number of improvement recommendations were designed such as improving work layout, implementing quality gate, and strengthening preventive maintenance. After the improvement, production time was reduced to 42,139 seconds and process cycle efficiency increased to 63.1%. These results show that the application of Lean Manufacturing through VSM and FMEA is effective in improving production efficiency and reducing waste in the company.

Abstract

Due to this fast growth in the logistics industry, the demand for high-speed and reliable delivery services is increasing. This paper is based on a qualitative case study in which the current delivery process at ABC Company is studied, and recommendations are provided for process improvement. Data were collected through observations, interviews, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), VOC, Voice of Business (VOB), and PICK Chart analysis. Based on the analysis, the eight types of waste and the Process Cycle Efficiency (PCE) of 25% were found, which refers to many non-value-adding activities. The most prominent problems were delay in delivery, damaged packages, wrong destination, incomplete address, and poor shipment verification. After improvement, the process was reduced from eight stages to four, and the lead time was decreased from 64 hours to 37 hours. Thus, it increased logistics process efficiency by approximately 42%. Value Stream Mapping has been instrumental in supporting process improvement, courier performance enhancement, and customer satisfaction.

Abstract

Companies need to develop a good business strategy in order to compete, including in choosing quality raw materials from the best suppliers. This research aims to select the best steel plate raw material supplier at company XYZ by using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Additive Ratio Assessment (ARAS) methods. This research involves the process of primary and secondary data collection which includes identifying supplier selection criteria, collecting data for each criterion, and collecting performance data from suppliers. The results showed that the order of the best steel plate raw material suppliers at company XYZ with the largest value was ranked 1st supplier company Steel Kras with a K value of 0,195207; ranked 2nd supplier company Jaraindo with a K value of 0,137696; ranked 3rd supplier company Capris with a K value of 0,135158; ranked 4th supplier company Kamaseta with a K value of 0,116481; ranked 5th supplier company Wima Indo with a K value of 0,106039 and ranked 6th supplier company Cenia Mandiri with a K value of 0,084586. Based on the AHP and ARAS methods, the relative weight of each criterion has been calculated, which helps in evaluating the best or potential suppliers to choose from. In addition, the ranking of suppliers is also determined based on the resulting priority value.
