Abstract

This research analyzes the optimisation of Dui Menre’ in the economic utilisation of families, analysed from the perspective of Maqasid Al-Syari’ah, focusing on the Bugis community in Bone Regency. The research aims to ascertain the impact of dui Menre’ on the economic welfare of families post-marriage, how the Bugis community optimises dui Menre’, and what strategies can be implemented in the management of dui Menre’ for family economic utilisation. Additionally, it examines how this can be integrated with the principles of Maqasid Al-Syari’ah. The methodology employed in this research is qualitative descriptive, with field research as its primary approach. Data collection techniques included interviews, questionnaires, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that dui Menre’ within the Bugis community in Bone Regency has yet to be utilised optimally. The funds allocated for dui Menre’ are primarily expended on wedding celebrations. The economic impact on families results in newly married couples lacking independence, progression, and financial prosperity post-marriage. These consequences contradict the principles of Maqasid Al-Syari’ah, which can threaten the preservation of hifz al-din (protection of religion), hifz al-nafs (protection of life), hifz al-‘aql (protection of intellect), hifz al-nasl (protection of lineage), and hifz al-mal (protection of wealth). Strategies to optimise dui Menre’ include avoiding the excessive expenditure on lavish celebrations by simplifying the concept of the wedding. Furthermore, setting aside a portion of dui Menre’ for savings and investments can support the household needs of newlyweds post-marriage.

Abstract

Introduction: This study aims to analyze the mediating role of Circle of Friends and Flexing on the influence of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) and Israf (excessive consumption) on purchasing decisions of imitation fashion products among Generation Z in Bone Regency. These social and psychological factors are known to be the main drivers of increased consumption of counterfeit goods. Methods: This research uses a quantitative approach with associative methods and Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) analysis techniques. Primary data were obtained through the distribution of online questionnaires to 230 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. The measurement instrument used a Likert scale of 1 to 5 and was tested for validity and reliability. Results: The t-value for the Circle of Friends variable on Purchase Decisions was 7.333 with a significance level of 0.000, and Flexing had a t-value of 3.235 with a significance of 0.001. Both were statistically significant. FOMO had a significant effect on Circle of Friends (t = 2.575; p = 0.010) and Flexing (t = 3.162; p = 0.002), but it did not directly affect Purchase Decisions. Meanwhile, Israf had a significant effect on Circle of Friends (t = 5.354; p = 0.000), Flexing (t = 4.914; p = 0.000), and Purchase Decisions (t = 2.606; p = 0.010). The indirect influence through both mediators was also proven significant. Conclusion and suggestion: The results of the study conclude that Circle of Friends and Flexing significantly mediate the influence of FOMO and Israf on purchasing decisions of imitation fashion products. These findings confirm the importance of social influence and self-imaging motivation in Generation Z's consumption behavior. It is recommended that education about authentic consumption and strengthening regulations against counterfeit goods be improved.

Abstract

This study examines the mediating role of tawāḍuʿ in reducing ecological poverty through economic behavior. It integrates the concepts of deep ecology, environmental justice, and khilāfah to explain the relationships among environmental injustice, natural resource exploitation, economic greed, sustainable environmental policy, and ecological poverty. Using a quantitative approach with SEM-PLS, data were collected from 245 Muslim middle-class respondents in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The findings show that environmental injustice increases resource exploitation, which intensifies economic greed and leads to less responsible economic behavior while weakening tawāḍuʿ. In contrast, sustainable environmental policy enhances tawāḍuʿ, fostering ethical awareness and promoting more responsible economic behavior. Tawāḍuʿ significantly contributes to reducing ecological poverty and serves as a key mediator linking structural and behavioral factors to socio-ecological outcomes. The results indicate that ecological issues are not merely technical or economic but are also shaped by moral-spiritual dimensions that influence economic behavior. This study contributes by proposing an integrative ecological–structural–spiritual model and empirically validating the role of tawāḍuʿ within Islamic environmental ethics. Practically, it highlights the importance of integrating moral-spiritual values into sustainable environmental governance.
