Abstract

Culture-based tourism (Cultural Tourism) is a type of tourism activity that utilizes culture as a tourist attraction visited by tourists in these tourist destinations, tourists will feel and learn about certain cultures. The existence of cultural tourism can be used as an object of tourist attraction that can preserve cultural heritage. Cultural tourism is like a double-edged knife in the use of cultural heritage as a tourist attraction. On the one hand, tourism can preserve the cultural heritage, while on the other hand, tourism activities will damage or negatively affect the cultural heritage because the object will be consumed by tourists (Burn and Holden, 1995). To avoid the negative impact of tourism, good management of tourism is needed, especially in this case culture. If the tourism industry can be managed properly, tourism can ensure the preservation of nature and culture. In addition, tourism can also be a forum for employment for local people around the tourist area. Community empowerment development can be applied from several indicators, including increasing knowledge, increasing abilities/skills, and related to programs implemented by the government. This research uses the descriptive qualitative research method, meaning that data is collected through several stages; field observation, data collection, resource person interviews, documentation, and relevant literature review, The title of this study is Tourism Development based on Culture and Environmental Entrepreneurship and is a case study in

Abstract

The impact of the Covid-19 virus around the world is so great that a new order of life is needed. At this time all humans are facing a new normal era where humans must start new habits that are guided by cleanliness, health, safety, and also environmental sustainability. The Indonesian government has made great efforts to stop the spread of the Covid-19 virus by making a Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) policy that paralyzed all activities until it was replaced with the Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) due to the emergence of a new problem, namely the economic crisis. The Covid-19 pandemic with PSBB and PPKM has had a major effect on the world of tourism, due to travel restrictions. Utilizing information technology through a virtual tourism platform, people can travel virtually. This virtual tour is very efficient in terms of time, space and cost. This paper discusses virtual tourism for two tourist destinations, namely the Louvre Museum in Paris, France and the Pattaya Floating Market in Thailand. The author uses virtual reality technology based on Youtube 360o, Google Street, and several platforms that provide virtual tours.

Abstract

Axis Aligned Bounding Box (AABB) is a popular method for object collision detection in distributed virtual environment (DVE). Actually, besides AABB several researchers have found better methods but those methods are not used in DVE. The simplicity of AABB is one of reasons. Another side, researchers have found several methods to make a scalable DVE to accommodate huge users. Object-based simulators architecture is one of them. It uses a simulator for an object in DVE. This paper aims to determine the comprehensive effects of implementing AABB in DVE and to enhance AABB implementation in DVE using object-based simulators architecture in order to be able to use other object collision detection methods in DVE. This research had four stages. First stage, we developed DVE application. The second stage was running AABB in DVE. In this stage, we also determined characteristics of AABB implemented in DVE. Third, we implemented AABB in object-based simulators architecture. This architecture used more simulators to manage objects. Finally, we analyzed and compared the results to the common existing DVE. There were three parameters measured in this research: runtime, frame rate and CPU usage of simulation application. The experiment results showed that computation complexity was the most important thing to be considered in DVE because DVE always updates its environment. Adding a few workloads into AABB degraded strictly performance of DVE. The results also showed that the enhanced AABB implementation in DVE using the object-based simulators architecture could rich the user experiences. The average runtime, frame rates and CPU usages using this architecture are 0.001 second, 239 fps and 20.94%, respectively. These achievements are better than common DVE. This novel approach could be used to implement other better collision detection algorithms in DVE such as oriented bounding box (OBB).

Abstract

In line with the urge for Inclusive Tourism Development, the tourism and hospitality industries have continuously faced a limited source of literacy on disability-friendly tourism. This is to achieve chance equality in the tourism sector. Other than facilities, inclusive tourism can be created and developed by creating a program or event. The program implemented can be designed to suit the needs of people with disabilities. “Fam trip Diffable” is one of the flagship programs organized by the Kulon Progo Regency Tourism Office to simultaneously publish or campaign for Inclusive Tourism Awareness which has been forgotten and abandoned and also educate people with disabilities in addition to traveling at the same time. Hence this paper aims to campaign the Disability-Friendly Tourism as one of the Inclusive Tourism Development movements that need to be considered. The “Famtrip Diffable” is one of the case studies in this qualitative approach research. With that, the Kulon Progo Regency Tourism Office can simultaneously promote the top tourist destinations in Kulon Progo Regency amid the pandemic. Considering this activity is carried out during the pandemic, of course, many things need to be considered such as health protocols and physical distance restrictions. Considering that this program involves many disabled friends ranging from deaf, mute, and blind people, this program is also designed to be able to adjust to the special needs of diffable friends. Such as collaborating with the Medical Team, Rescue, and Interpreter. Possible obstacles that may occur during the event can be prevented and overcome. This event also collaborates with Kompas TV in the Jalan-Jalan Lets Go” program which can expand publications, educate and inform the wider community about extraordinary programs by the Kulon Progo Regency Tourism Office. In summary, conclusions are drawn and some suggestions are offered regarding the topics that are likely to provide opportunities for future research directions.

Abstract

The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on tourist visits and hospitality has been enormous in various countries. This is due to social restriction policies and risks related to health. The purpose of this study is to prove quantitatively whether there are differences in the level of visits by foreign tourists and the occupancy rates of hotel rooms in Indonesia before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study uses 4 years of secondary data obtained from BPS from 2018 to 2022. The data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive using a nonparametric statistical tool, namely the Wilcoxon Signes-Ranks Test. The results of this study indicate that there are differences in the level of foreign tourist visit and hotel rooms occupancy rates in Indonesia before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. It can also be proven that there were differences in the hotel rooms occupancy rates in Indonesia before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on national data in Indonesia, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic can reduce the level of foreign tourist visits and the occupancy rate of hotel rooms. This research recommends various innovative ways to deal with the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the tourism and hospitality industry.
