Abstract

The coverage of management pregnancy complications in Indonesia tends to increase every year, but not yet comparable to a decrease in maternal morbidity and mortality. This was allegedly due to the increase in the number of high-risk pregnant women each year and because of the delay in referral due to delays in the mother and family in seeking care or deciding on approval of actions when there was a risk of even complications / emergencies. Delayed decision making is assumed due to lack of awareness of the mother and family due to lack of convincing and ineffective health communication carried out by health workers, especially midwives in delivering information about the risks and complications of pregnancy. Effective communication in changing behavior is persuasive communication that can be learned by midwives in order to help convince mothers, families and the community to be aware of the risks so that they can quickly and accurately make decisions for handling / action. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of midwives' persuasive communication on the decision making of mothers and families experiencing high risk pregnancies. The design of this study uses a quasi-experimental pre-posttest with control groups. Subjects were selected based on inclusion criteria by simple random sampling for the treatment and control group, with a total of 30 midwives in the Jember Regency. Communication is measured by a checklist and decision making of pregnant women viewed from filling out the questionnaire. Data analysis with simple linear regression test to assess the effectiveness of midwife persuasive communication on decision making for pregnant women. The results showed a significant effect of persuasive communication on maternal decision making by 49% (P <0.001). Persuasive communication into an intervention increases the competence of midwives' promotives so that they can help convince mothers, families and the community to be aware of the risks, there is no delay in referrals that cause pain or even maternal death.

Abstract

Labor pain is a physiological condition that began at the first stage of labor (laten and active phase). Pain comes from uterine contractions and cervical dilation in an attempt to pave the way for birth and encourage babies to be born. Experts find pharmacological and non-pharmacological ways to reduce pain in labor, one of them is Dzikir guided by childbirth helper (midwife). The purpose of this study was to analyze the differences of labor pain level on mother in latent phase before and after applying Dzikir. Subjects were 15 accidentally selected mothers in labor latent phase on March - April in PMB ā€œSā€ Puger Jember. The design of this study uses a quasi-experimental one group pre-posttest. Results showed significant decreased pain level of mothers after doing Dzikir significantly (Z=-3,578, p≤0.001). In conclusions, there are differences of labor pain level on mother in latent phase before and after applying Dzikir.

Abstract

Stunting, a type of malnutrition that begins in the womb until the first two years of life and is worsened by recurrent infectious diseases after birth. Children in tropical countries experience more worm infections which can cause blood loss through the digestive tract due to the number of bad microbiota in the digestive tract. Cumulatively, bad microbiota can cause malnutrition and blood loss which results in decreased body resistance and causes problems with children's growth and development. The aim of this community service is to examine the presence of gastrointestinal microbiota and HB which is associated with nutritional status in stunted toddlers. The method/stage of the activity is a screening examination starting with anamnese and physical examination, then Hb and feces examinations are carried out on stunted toddlers in the Kaliwates Health Center area, Kebonagung village. The number of stunted toddlers targeted was 17 aged 24 – 60 months out of 30 children whose parents were willing to have their Hb and feces checked. The result of this community service is that the number of bad microbiota is greater than the good microbiota in stunted toddlers and in this condition the Hb levels also decrease. Conclusion: Shifts in the composition of toddlers' intestinal bacteria have been associated with an increase in the number of gastrointestinal infections which resulted in a decrease in Hb levels in stunted toddlers.

Abstract

Midwives provide continuous and plenary midwifery services, focusing on aspects of prevention, promotion based on partnerships and community empowerment together with other health workers to always be ready to serve. Pregnant women need holistic care to meet basic needs, not only biological needs with the 10T examination but also psychological, social, cultural and spiritual examinations with a holistic examination covering the mother's physical, psychological, social and even spiritual condition. . The instrument in this study was a questionnaire consisting of questionnaires on social and economic factors as well as measurements of general maternal data such as weight, height and other routine measurements for pregnant women. After a statistical test was carried out using the Spearman rank correlation, it was found that the p-value was -0.073 with a significant level of 0.566, which means that the variable physical status of pregnant women seen from BMI and socio-economic status of the mother has a fairly strong but not significant relationship in the opposite direction. Not only social and economic factors that affect the welfare of pregnant women. Routine holistic care is needed for pregnant women to monitor quality pregnancies.

Abstract

The issue of nutritional status, particularly stunting in children, is a global concern that requires serious attention. This research aims to investigate the relationship between gut microbiota and hemoglobin (HB) levels and nutritional status in children at the Kaliwates Health Center. This type of research includes observational analytics with a cross-sectional study design. Sampling was done by purposive sampling, resulting in 19 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. The analysis of this study includes univariate and bivariate analysis with statistical tests using Chi Square. The research instruments used were digital Hb tests and laboratory feces examinations. The results of the univariate analysis using the Chi Square test showed that the majority of children's gut microbiota was abnormal (89.5%), while the majority of HB levels were normal (42.1%) and the majority of nutritional status was in the short category (47.4%). The bivariate analysis results of the relationship between microbiota and Hb levels showed a p-value of 0.215 (p-value>0.05), while the bivariate analysis results of the relationship between microbiota and nutritional status showed a p-value of 0.000 (p-value<0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is no relationship between gut microbiota and Hb levels, but there is a significant relationship between gut microbiota and nutritional status.children's nutritional status, including the role of the microbiota in digestion and absorption of nutrients.
