Abstract

This research is motivated by the lack of creative and innovative learning media so that students find it difficult to understand the material presented by educators, efforts to overcome this problem are the need to develop animated video learning media that can attract students' attention because of attractive images and colors. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) research using the ADDIE model which consists of several stages (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The test subjects were class IV students at SDN 04 Koto Baru. Data collection instruments use validity instruments, practicality instruments, and effectiveness instruments. The assessment instrument was validated by three validators namely content/material, media and language, then the practicality sheet was determined by the practitioner. The effectiveness of animated videos is determined from the learning outcomes of class IV students at SDN 04 Koto Baru using animated videos. The results of the validation carried out by three validators obtained an average validity value of 85% with a very valid category in the sense that the animated video for learning Mathematics is suitable for use by students. The results of the practicality value of the educator's response questionnaire obtained an average of 89.99% in the very practical category. The results of the practicality value of the student response questionnaire obtained an average of 90.56% in the very practical category, so that the teacher and student response questionnaire obtained an average of 90.27% in the sense that it was easy for students to use and time efficient. The results of the effectiveness value of 10 students who took part in learning using the media developed on the Flat Shape material stated that 90% complete was categorized as very effective so that it was easy to use and very efficient in terms of time.

Abstract

The background problem of this research is the low mathematics scores of students and there are still many students who experience difficulties in completing multiplication calculation operations. This research aims to identify class II students' understanding of Mathematics concepts in multiplication material, and to determine the difficulties experienced by class II students at SDN 11 Sitiung in completing multiplication calculation operations. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interviews and documentation. Data collection uses test and interview methods. The research subjects were 6 students, each consisting of 2 students classified as high, medium and low ability, taken from 19 class II students at SDN 11 Sitiung. The instrument used in this research is test questions containing multiplication calculation operation problems. The indicators used to describe students' understanding of mathematical concepts are using the indicators proposed by Kilpatrik, namely: 1) restating the concepts that have been learned, 2) classifying objects based on mathematical concepts, and 3) presenting concepts in various representations. The data analysis techniques in this research are data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research showed that the achievement of understanding mathematical concepts was the first indicator, 3 out of 6 students had achieved the achievement of understanding the concept. In the second indicator, only 2 out of 6 students classified objects based on mathematical concepts. In the third indicator, 6 out of 6 students were able to present concepts in various representations.

Abstract

This research is based on problems in Mathematics learning in the discussion of addition materials, where the learning outcomes in mathematics subjects are low, students do not pay attention to the teacher when explaining the learning material, and lack of using creative and innovative learning media. Through this problem, the purpose of this study is to compare the learning outcomes of students taught using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by the media of the number of hours with the learning outcomes of students taught using conventional learning in mathematics in grade III of SDN 16 Koto Baru. This study uses quantitative research with the type of Quasi Experiental Design research, using a Nonequivelent Control Group Design research design. This research was carried out at SDN 16 Koto Baru in grades IIIA and IIIB in the even semester of the 2023/2024 school year. The population in this study is 31 students in class IIIA and 31 students in class IIIB. The data collection instruments used are test questions, observation sheets and documentation. The development of instruments used is validity test, reliability test, problem difficulty test and discriminating power test. The data collection techniques used were the initial test (pretest) and the final test (posttest). The data analysis techniques of this study used normality tests, homogeneity tests and hypothesis tests. Based on the results obtained from the paired samples t test, which is 0.000<0.05, it means that it is rejected and Ha is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by the media of the number of hours on the learning outcomes of mathematics in the third grade students of SDN 16 Koto Baru.
