Abstract

Facts show that not all educators are able to optimize information technology facilities according to the learning needs and characteristics of students in social studies learning after the Covid-19 pandemic. Social studies learning will have a number of significant issues if it is not adjusted to the characteristics of students of generation Z, by which their daily life is influenced and dependent on gadgets. The purpose of this research is to produce a mobile game based social studies instructional media that is able to develop students’ 21st century skills. This study uses the Research and Development method with research stages using the ADDIE design model (Analysis, Design, Development Implementation and Evaluation). The results showed that the media get recommendations with eligibility criteria for use from experts of media and social studies materials validators with an average score of 4.11. The study is implemented with a quasi-experimental design in class 8A as the Experiment class and Class 8C as the control class. With the significance of 0.000 < 0.05, social studies instructional media based on mobile games is effectively used to develop 21st century skills. It is concluded that mobile game-based social studies instructional media has been proven to effective in developing students' 21st century skills.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to determine the effectiveness of using the VCT Model based on local wisdom values in Pancasila and Citizenship education to increase students' social awareness. Method: This research used a quasi-experiment with a one-class group pretest-posttest design. This research was conducted at JHS 26 Makassar, Indonesia, with a sample of 31 students. Effectiveness is measured based on the results of the n-Gain test developed by Hake. Results: The research results found that the use of the VCT model based on local wisdom values was practical and effective in increasing students' social awareness as evidenced by the results of the N gain pretest and post-test, which were in the high category with a g- ave of 0.89 and the results of the practical test of the value-based VCT model local wisdom by teachers 92.30% (efficient) and observers 90.98% (very practical). Novelty: This research contributes to preserving cultural heritage as the nation's wealth.

Abstract

Educational institutions have a responsibility to provide students with moral understanding to be able to face moral problems in society. Researchers worldwide make various efforts to discover the best strategies and formulate them into a framework for building the moral intelligence of students. This study provides a bibliometric overview of articles published in the Scopus database with the keywords 'moral intelligence' and 'students.'The bibliometric review was conducted using data processing tools, VOSviewer and Publish or Perish (PoP). The obtained data consisted of 17 articles, following five stages of the bibliometric review process: defining search keywords, determining initial search results, refining search results, compiling statistical data, and conducting analysis. The results of the bibliometric review indicate that the publication trends related to the moral intelligence of students globally tend to fluctuate. Iran is the country with the highest number of Scopus-indexed articles on the theme of students' moral intelligence, totaling ten articles. Meanwhile, the most significant citation trend for articles occurred in 2010, with a total of 26 citations. The limited amount of research conducted on the theme of students' moral intelligence presents an opportunity for researchers to explore novelty aspects.

Abstract

This research is entitled The Use of Middle School Social Sciences Teaching Materials Containing Multicultural Life Material in Singkawang City. This research aims to find out what form of social studies teaching materials are used in junior high school social studies learning in Singkawang City and what the material content of multicultural life in Singkawang City is in the social studies teaching materials used by teachers in junior high school social studies learning in Singkawang City. This research uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques using interview techniques, observation and document analysis at 5 junior high schools in Singkawang City. The validity of the data used is data triangulation and method triangulation. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique uses interactive analysis with three stages of analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing verification conclusions. The research results show that, first, the form of social studies teaching materials used by teachers in learning social studies in class VIII of junior high schools in Singkawang City is printed teaching materials in the form of books, namely social studies textbooks or student books published by the government and worksheet books that refer to the Merdeka Curriculum. Second, in the social studies teaching materials used by teachers in learning social studies in class VIII of junior high schools in Singkawang City, there is no material content about multicultural life in Singkawang City. The material content in the social studies teaching materials used by teachers in junior high school social studies learning in Singkawang City only contains national or general social studies material, so to get around the absence of material content on multicultural life in Singkawang City in junior high school social studies teaching materials, the teacher conveys multicultural life material in Singkawang City is given verbally in a limited manner according to the teacher’s knowledge. Thus, it is necessary to recommend the development of teaching materials based on multicultural life in Singkawang City in junior high school social studies learning in Singkawang City as a means of multicultural education so that students become more acquainted with know and understand the social life and cultural traditions that exist in the environment around which students live with the hope that students can discover, appreciate and apply social values in multicultural life in Singkawang City which are the basis for building students’ social attitudes in order to create a harmonious and tolerant social life in Singkawang City.
