Abstract

The tongue is a small part of the body that holds significant power to influence both individual life and community well-being. James 3:1–12 provides a firm warning about the dangers of an uncontrolled tongue, depicting it as a fire, a world of evil, and deadly poison. This study aims to examine the meaning of controlling the tongue as a responsibility of Christian spirituality through a literature review and exegetical-hermeneutical analysis of James 3:1–12. This qualitative research employs primary data from the biblical text (Indonesian Bible Society version and the Greek text) and secondary data from commentaries, Christian ethics books, and theological journals. The findings indicate that controlling the tongue is a sign of spiritual maturity and an essential aspect of Christian discipline that must be continuously cultivated. Disciplined speech reflects living faith and serves as a means to foster love, truth, and peace within the community. This study highlights the need for churches and believers to integrate ethical speech as a core part of their witness in the world.

Abstract

This article is rooted in Paul's exhortation in Ephesians 5:16, "make the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil," which carries profound theological and ethical relevance for addressing the challenges of time management in the digital age. The background of this study arises from the widespread phenomenon of digital distraction among Christians, where technological advancements often lead to wasted time and a decline in spiritual quality of life. The purpose of this research is to analyze the meaning of "redeeming the time" in Ephesians 5:16 through biblical exegesis and contextual hermeneutics, and to explore its practical relevance for Christian time management today. This study employs a textual exegetical method, including linguistic analysis of key Greek terms in the original text, along with a contextual hermeneutical approach to relate the biblical message to the realities of the digital era. The findings indicate that “redeeming the time” demands a faith-driven awareness to wisely seize every kairos opportunity amid a world full of distractions. In conclusion, Ephesians 5:16 provides a strong theological foundation for Christians to manage their time proactively, productively, and in alignment with God’s will in the face of digital life challenges.

Abstract

The reason for the phrase "For if we sin willfully" in Hebrews 10:26 is to remind its readers of the importance of maintaining a godly life and avoiding sin, and to emphasize that it is only through faith in Christ and a godly life that we can obtain forgiveness of sins and eternal salvation. The letter to the Hebrews was written to Christian Jews living in the first century. They had received teaching about Christ and the Christian faith, but still faced pressure and persecution from their Jewish neighbors. This letter was written to strengthen their faith and help them understand how important their faith in Christ was. In this letter, the author teaches about the virtues of Christ as the high priest and the perfect sacrifice for the sins of mankind. He also teaches about the importance of maintaining faith and godly living in response to the grace and salvation that God has given through Christ. Hebrews 10:26 discusses the importance of Christ's sacrifice as the perfect offering for the sins of man. This verse emphasizes that if a person who has received the teaching of the truth deliberately commits sin, then he loses the opportunity to obtain forgiveness of sins.

Abstract

This article discusses the doctrine of evil spirits from a Christian faith perspective, focusing on the existence and activities of supernatural beings that oppose the will of God. In Christian theology, evil spirits are associated with sin, temptation, and human suffering, and are considered a serious spiritual threat. Although the concept of evil spirits is often overlooked in the modern era, many people still experience negative spiritual phenomena, highlighting the importance of this topic. A lack of deep understanding of the doctrine of evil spirits can leave Christians vulnerable to spiritual attacks. This article aims to deepen theological understanding of the existence and role of evil spirits and to provide insights on how Christians can spiritually confront these negative influences. The research also emphasizes the relevance of this doctrine in daily life and spiritual practice, referencing the Bible, especially the New Testament, where Jesus Christ is depicted as having the authority to cast out evil spirits.
