Abstract

This research is motivated by the rise of foreign cultures that enter Indonesia, giving rise to fading people's love for local culture. The purpose of this study is to describe the locality of Minangkabau in the novel Everything That Heaven Swallows by Pinto Anugrah and utilizing the results of his research into learning literature in the form of handout teaching materials. The research subject is the novel Everything That Heaven Swallows by Pinto Anugrah. While the object of this research is a study of Minangkabau locality contained in the novel. Data collection techniques apply reading techniques, note-taking techniques, and literature study techniques. Furthermore, the collected data was analyzed through three activities, including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or verification. The results of the analysis of Minangkabau locality elements in the novel Everything That Heaven Swallows Pinto Anugrah's work found that in the novel stored local knowledge, local culture, local skills, local resources, and local social processes. Furthermore, the results of the research were used for learning novels at SMK in the form of teaching materials in the form of handouts adapted to the Basic Competency of even semester class XII novel text material.
