Abstract

Resilience in non-congenital quadriplegics is the ability of individuals who experience physical disorders or disabilities due to disease, injury, or conditions that arise after birth to overcome pressure, stress, change, or disturbance, as well as the ability to recover after experiencing difficult situations. This research aims to describe resilience in non-congenital quadriplegics. This research uses a qualitative analysis method with Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The data collection technique uses interviews based on an interview guide with two subjects. This research shows the results that both subjects were able to survive and recover from the events experienced from the beginning of facing disability to living their lives today.

Abstract

Adolescents living in families where a parent has schizophrenia are at risk of experiencing significant psychological distress. This study aims to gain an in-depth understanding of the subjective experiences of a teenage boy in dealing with the psychological burden of having a mother with schizophrenia. The research employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method and utilized Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) for data analysis. The participant in this study was a 16-year-old male adolescent who lives with his mother diagnosed with a chronic mental illness. The findings reveal that the subject experienced psychological burden in both objective forms, such as caregiving duties and domestic responsibilities, and subjective forms, including feelings of shame, anxiety, limited social interaction, and emotional conflict. Despite these challenges, the subject developed adaptive coping strategies through social engagement, sports activities, and support from peers and the surrounding environment. These findings highlight the psychological dynamics faced by adolescents in families affected by mental disorders and emphasize the importance of experience-based approaches in psychological intervention efforts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the correlation between loneliness and Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) among working mothers experiencing long-distance marriage (LDM) in West Sumatra, a population facing dual challenges of work responsibilities and limited spousal support. Loneliness, often triggered by the lack of emotional closeness and reduced social support, is hypothesized to significantly contribute to FoMO, particularly in the context of increased social media use. The research employed a quantitative correlational design with a sample of 385 working mothers selected through simple random sampling. Data collection utilized the FoMO scale developed by Kurniawan and Utami (2022) and a loneliness scale designed by the researcher based on Russell’s (1996) dimensions. Data analysis used the Pearson product moment correlation test after ensuring normality and linearity assumptions were met. The findings revealed a significant positive correlation between loneliness and FoMO (r = 0.649, p < 0.05). This indicates that higher levels of loneliness are associated with greater FoMO tendencies among working mothers living apart from their spouses. The study highlights how psychological vulnerabilities related to marital separation and dual roles increase susceptibility to FoMO. These results underscore the importance of providing psychosocial support, strengthening marital communication, and promoting digital literacy to reduce FoMO risks. This research contributes to understanding the psychosocial dynamics of working mothers in LDM contexts and can serve as a basis for preventive interventions to enhance mental well-being.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-acceptance and fear of missing out (FoMO) among Generation Z students who use the TikTok application in West Sumatra. A quantitative approach was employed with 386 Generation Z students selected through purposive sampling. The self-acceptance variable was measured using an instrument developed by the researchers based on Bernard’s (2013) theory, while the FoMO variable used a scale adapted into Indonesian by Kurniawan and Utami (2022) based on Sette et al. (2020). Data were analyzed using correlation techniques. The findings reveal a significant negative correlation between self-acceptance and FoMO (r = –0.522; p = 0.000 < 0.05). This indicates that the higher the level of self-acceptance, the lower the level of FoMO experienced by Generation Z students using TikTok. Conversely, lower self-acceptance is associated with higher levels of FoMO. These results support the notion that low self-acceptance may trigger negative social comparison on social media, increased anxiety, and dependence on external validation. This study offers practical implications for students, parents, and higher education institutions to pay closer attention to self-acceptance as a preventive factor against the negative effects of excessive social media use.

Abstract

Quarter life crisis is a phenomenon that can occur in individuals in their 20s who experience a major transition in life, from the world of education to the world of work. This crisis arises due to extraordinary uncertainty about the future, confusion about the direction of life, and feelings of helplessness because there are too many choices available. Good social support from the environment such as emotiona/ appreciation support, material, information and companionship will help final year students experience the quarter life crisis phase. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between social support and quarter life crisis in final year students at Padang State University. This type of research is quantitative research with a research sample of 292 final year students using probability sampling techniques, namely cluster sampling techniques in determining the sample. The instruments used were the quarter life crisis questionnaire and the social support questionnaire. The results of the statistical analysis test of the study showed that if the significance value was 0.000 (p <0.05) it meant that the research hypothesis was accepted. There is a significant relationship between social support and quarter life crisis in final year students at Padang State University with a correlation value of -.615, this relationship is in the strong correlation category.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between payment preferences and impulsive buying behavior among young adult e-commerce users in Bukittinggi. Digital payment methods are suspected to influence impulsive buying tendencies by reducing financial awareness. This study used a quantitative approach involving 93 young adult respondents (18-40 years old) who actively shop online. sampling technique used in this study was incidental sampling, data were collected through questionnaires measuring aspects of payment preferences (such as positive emotion cash, positive emotion card, social gratification, and money management) and impulsive buying (cognitive and affective aspects). Validity and reliability tests confirmed that the research instrument met the established criteria. Data analysis using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test showed a very low and non- significant positive relationship between payment preferences and impulsive buying (r = -0.047, p = 0.656). Although statistically insignificant, the variable description indicates that respondents tended to have a high level of impulsive buying, with payment preferences dominated by social considerations (social gratification). These findings imply the importance of enhancing digital financial literacy and expenditure management for consumers, as well as considering local socio-cultural factors in understanding consumer behavior.
