Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding refers to the practice of providing breast milk solely to infants aged 0-6 months without introducing any additional solid foods or liquids such as formula, fruit juice, honey, or tea. The objective of this study is to assess the impact of administering green bean juice (Vigna Radiate) on enhancing postpartum breast milk production among mothers receiving care at the Yeni Clinic in the Tinggi Raja District, Asahan Regency, in the year 2022. This research follows a quantitative approach and employs a quasi-experimental design known as the "slum experiment," involving both pre-test and One Group post-test designs. Data analysis involved the application of a paired t-test on a sample of 10 postpartum mothers facing challenges in providing exclusive breastfeeding, and the study was conducted in June 2022. The findings of the study indicated that prior to the introduction of green bean extract, the majority of mothers (90%) experienced low breast milk production, with only one mother (10%) achieving sufficient breast milk production. Following the reintroduction of green bean extract, two mothers (20%) observed an increase in breast milk production, while eight other mothers (80%) achieved adequate breast milk production. Data analysis results revealed a p-value of 0.000, which is less than 0.005, indicating a significant influence of administering green bean juice (Vigna Radiate) on breast milk production among postpartum mothers at the Yeni Clinic, Tinggi Raja District, Asahan Regency, in 2022.

Abstract

Acts of violence usually occur against helpless victims, especially women and children. In fact, this act of violence occurred in the environment closest to the victim, for example, the neighborhood or school, and was carried out by perpetrators who were supposed to protect women and children. This is usually caused by a low level of knowledge about the dangers of violence, especially on the victim's side. So it is necessary to carry out an educational program to prevent acts of violence against women and children in an effort to support government programs to minimize these actions. Counseling activities were carried out at the Al-Yasiriyah Brothers Education Foundation. Counseling is carried out with the mechanisms of the lecture method, discussions, and mini games, which aim to provide an interactive counseling impact that can meet the target of understanding the participants' understanding regarding information on preventing violence against women and children. The results of the counseling show that satisfaction with the implementation of the extension activities had an impact on increasing the knowledge of the extension participants, with a percentage score of 86%. With a description, each participant gave an assessment of being in the good category in the implementation of the extension activities. While the average assessment given by extension participants on the implementation of activities has an assessment level of 3.45, This counseling activity is expected to broaden the participants' insights regarding the impact and strategies for preventing violence in everyday life, especially for women and children.

Abstract

The Community Service Program (PKM) in Bingkat Village, Pegajahan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, aims to improve community welfare by making instant dry healthy drinks from ginger extract. This activity involves lecturers and students from the Indah Medan Health Sciences College, with a focus on empowering housewives who are members of the PKK group. The training was attended by around 60 participants, who showed active participation during the discussion session on the benefits of ginger and the process of making healthy drinks. The training method includes lectures and practices, participants learn about the properties of ginger, how to choose quality ingredients, and packaging techniques. After the training, participants succeeded in producing instant dry healthy drinks, which are considered to have a distinctive aroma and fresh taste. A marketing plan was also prepared, including identifying target markets and promotional strategies through social media. This program has a positive impact on the family economy, increasing income through product sales. The community is expected to be able to increase their immune system and reduce the risk of disease by consuming this product regularly. The sustainability of the program is very important, so support is needed from the village government and related institutions for further development. Challenges faced include limited access to markets and capital, which require solutions through microfinance and effective marketing strategies.
