Abstract

Communities around mangrove forests use mangrove forests as additional livelihoods such as looking for shrimp, crabs, shellfish. The existence of a relationship between the community and the existence of this mangrove forest raises the perception of the community in an effort to maintain and preserve the existence of the mangrove forest. The purpose of this study was to analyze the perception of the community in Tuapejat Village on the existence of mangrove forests in North Sipora District, Mentawai Islands Regency. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative, the determination of respondents using the Slovin formula with a population of 94 respondents and a sample of 76 respondents. The data analysis method used is the chi-square test using SPSS version 0.25 software. The results showed that the level of public perception of the existence of mangrove forests in Tuapejat Village, Sipora Utara District, Mentawai Islands Regency showed that 70% had a high perception, 24% had a moderate perception and 6% had a low perception. There is a significant relationship between age, education level and length of stay and with community perceptions of the existence of mangrove forests in Tuapejat Village, North Sipora District, Mentawai Islands Regency.Keywords: Community Perception, Coastal Ecosystem, Mangrove Forest.AbstrakMasyarakat yang berada di sekitar hutan mangrove memanfaatkan hutan mangrove sebagai mata pencaharian tambahan seperti mencari udang, kepiting, kerang. Adanya keterkaitan antara masyarakat dengan keberadaan hutan mangrove ini menimbulkan adanya persepsi masyarakat dalam upaya menjaga dan melestarikan keberadaan hutan mangrove. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis persepsi masyarakat di Desa Tuapejat terhadap teberadaan hutan mangrove Kecamatan Sipora Utara Kabupaten Kepulauan Mentawai. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif, penentuan responden menggunakan rumus slovin dengan populasi responden 94 dan sampel sebanyak 76 orang responden. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah uji chi square menggunakan software SPSS version 0.25. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat persepsi masyarakat terhadap keberadaan hutan mangrove di Desa Tuapejat Kecamatan Sipora Utara Kabupaten Kepulauan Mentawai menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 70%  memiliki persepsi tinggi, 24% mempunyai persepsi sedang dan 6% yang mempunyai persepsi rendah. Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara usia, tingkat pendidikan dan lama menetap dan dengan persepsi masyarakat terhadap keberadaan hutan mangrove di Desa Tuapejat Kecamatan Sipora Utara Kabupaten Kepulauan Mentawai.Kata kunci: Persepsi Masyarakat, Ekosistem Pesisir, Hutan Mangrove.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze aspects of environmental sustainability based on natural heritage conservation and resource management at the coastal tourist attraction of Nagari Ampiang Parak, Pesisir Selatan Regency. Researchers carried out research through the use of qualitative methods using purposive sampling techniques. Techniques for collecting data were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The process of testing data validity uses source triangulation analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation process, and conclusion. The turtle beach destination is said to be environmentally sustainable in terms of natural heritage conservation and resource management. The results of the research show that management of natural heritage conservation is not yet optimal, information media such as sites do not yet exist, resource management is not yet optimal because the destination does not yet have renewable energy, does not yet have guidelines for monitoring the reduction in water use and does not yet have data and reports on water quality.
