Abstract

Fulfillment of beef availability needs to be considered to maintain a balance between supply and demand. This is because the market often experiences price fluctuations due to stock imbalances. This research aims to identify the most effective strategy using a game theory approach to guarantee the availability of beef and maintain price stability in Balikpapan, where Balikpapan always brings in beef from outside the area, both local and imported beef. This research provides valuable insight into the importance of collaboration between the parties involved, namely local beef traders and importers. This research also serves as a guide for decision makers in the beef industry to achieve an optimal balance between supply and demand. The results obtained through pure strategic analysis indicate a competitive situation between local traders and beef importers. Both parties adopted the same strategy to maintain a 100% stock level, which resulted value of the game is 55,673,262,189.

Abstract

A company that offers products naturally needs storage space called a warehouse. Warehouse has an information system regarding the availability, status and condition of goods in the warehouse. Parties who need materials are required to come to the warehouse to pick up the goods. With limited human resources, there will be a buildup of queues and waiting times that are getting longer along with the number of users entering the system. This study aims to reduce the number and time of queues by conducting simulations with different scenarios. The study used primary data by combining 3 days of observation data as many as 34 data. Observations were made during normal working hours, namely 07.30 to 15.30. The actual model of the warehouse queuing system is a single channel multiphase. By comparing the actual simulation model with different scenarios, it is expected to find scenarios that can reduce the time and number of queues.

Abstract

RT area. 36 is located in North Balikpapan with some of its residents working as vegetable farmers on plantations. One of the problems faced in RT. 36 is a hard and dry soil condition. This has an impact on hampering planting in the form of decreased crop yields and even crop failure. The water level in the soil during the dry season tends to be so low that plants cannot survive. This problem gave rise to a solution in the form of designing an automatic watering machine to improve the quality and water content of the soil for planting as well as innovating automated technology to control agricultural land conditions using a timer. Previous soil conditions experienced drought and poor soil with a water content of 10%-20%, 50% microorganisms which could hinder agriculture by increasing the risk of crop failure. After using an automatic watering device, it can increase soil water content by 30%-50%, microorganisms by 20%-30%, so that it can increase crop yields by 20% in various seasons and improve the quality of the harvest.

Abstract

In the material procurement process, there are often delays in the arrival of materials that cause maintenance and operational delays. Evaluation of the material procurement process is necessary to identify the factors that cause delays. Utility and waiting time for various staff showed significant variations, with the highest waiting time at the approving stage (4-24 hours) and the creation of TOR, FPB, RAB documents (1-11 hours). Utilization at the FPB, TOR, RAB creation staff from 13% to 62%, RO staff 6%-55%, HPE staff 50%-77%, RKS staff 10%-52%, approving user team, assistant manager to manager of 73%-90%, PDP staff 0%-45%, HPS staff 0%-45%, PPP staff 0%-44%, entry staff 61%-81%, eval staff 4%-41%, BA staff 0-56%, PO staff 8-52%. Three improvement scenarios were developed, with scenarios 2 and 3 being the best, scenario 2 reducing resources and scenario 3 increasing the purchase of certain materials, in order to optimize inventory.

Abstract

Balikpapan City, as one of the supporting cities for the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan, faces significant challenges in meeting the demand for clean water. The increase in population due to migration and infrastructure development following the relocation of the IKN has led to a continuous rise in the demand for clean water. The rate of water loss, or Non-Revenue Water (NRW), is quite high, reaching 25.85%. This situation has resulted in low distribution efficiency and highlights a gap between the available clean water distribution system and the actual needs of the community. As a result, clean water service coverage reached only 80.07% in 2022. This study aims to identify the factors influencing clean water distribution, develop a dynamic system model, and formulate optimal scenarios. The research method used is a dynamic systems approach, which enables comprehensive analysis of the cause-and-effect relationships between variables in the clean water distribution system, as well as simulation of various policy scenarios to find the most effective and sustainable solutions. Simulation results show significant dynamics in clean water distribution. From 2023 to 2035, pipeline length increased from 1.4 million meters to 1.6 million meters, yet clean water consumption decreased to 23.67 million m³ in 2029 and 23.15 million m³ in 2035. Of the three designed scenarios, Scenario 3, which involves a 4.2% annual increase in pipeline repair rates and a 1.47% annual increase in the number of customers, proved to be the most effective. This scenario successfully reduces pipeline leakage rates and significantly improves distribution coverage.

Abstract

Rapid population growth, limited developable land, and rising housing demand create increasing pressure on the urban settlement system in Balikpapan. This study aims to develop a comprehensive model to support sustainable housing planning by examining the interactions among social, economic, and environmental factors.  The study gave strategic optimization in housing and setllement planing in Balikpapan with social, economic, and environmental consideration. A system dynamics model was constructed using causal loop and stock–flow structures to simulate system behavior from 2020 to 2050. Indicator performance was assessed using an entropy-based weighting method, while efficiency was evaluated through a data envelopment analysis approach. Three policy scenarios were tested: economic growth, development of public rental housing, and a combined strategy. The results of the study indicate that the environmental output variable (green open space) experienced a significant decline from 696,800 hectares to 390,599.6 hectares. The results also show that environmental indicators consistently achieved the highest performance, followed by social indicators, while economic indicators remained the weakest due to high development costs. Therefore, recommendations for improvements in the environmental sector can provide better output results. The scenario focused on vertical public housing provides the most balanced outcome, improving social welfare while reducing pressure on land resources. These findings emphasize the importance of integrated policy planning that aligns effectiveness and resource efficiency to support sustainable urban development.
